Cool design, reliable brand, flickable, great 0 to 60 at 3.5 seconds, fuel efficient at about 200 miles per 4 gallon tank range for me. TFT display is great too. Lots of great competition for Kawasaki though. Thanks.
Out of this collection, Triumph is the no brainer. Different engine to test (different and bloody good). Bet it rides good, stops good too. And it'll just be scewed together well. Good dealer network.

While I'd love to see a Liter bike reimagining from the KTM 990, I think that a Chinese made RC 790 would make the most sense from KTM. More of a 750cc road going class to compete with the emerging 650-750cc class bikes. More horsepower than the rest, less weight, comparable or better tech, affordable price point. If the ZX4RR isn't too uncomfortable with the racer crouch compared to the CBR650, then it would get the nod. Alternatively (and a lot better value) I could find a lightly used Kawasaki ZX636!
I like the looks of the new cbr650 but i don't like the fact they didn't change anything about that engine. With what those bikes weigh they could use some better torque figures. On this list, my pick would be the Rs660 as well. It's just very good, though expensive. However the street triple RS keeps calling my name 😂
Great comparison in a class I love. A fairing for wind protection and looks but comfortable with useable power and affordable. The GSX 8R has 15% more torque that the RS660 which is more useful for everyday riding than revy bhp. And the RS costs 27-32% more where I love, depending on the deals. That is the same as Street Triple R or RS, Z900SE or KTM890. Looks good and all those qualities, but not sure it is worth the money. I also found the standover a little high due to the wider front of the saddle and with short legs was left tip toed. Not what I like riding around an uneven hilly city. The Daytona looks amazing and has enough power. Again the torque is down a on the GSX and the instrument screen/dash board looks terrible in my view. A Triumph blind spot. Same lame dash on the Tiger and Street triple R. The RS has a TFT but looney design with all numbers bar speed too small and the tach un-useable on the go. Someone talk to Triumph, please!
I’m in the market for a new bike in this sector so perfect timing on the brilliant video. I would say though that the pricing isn’t quite right as they’re not like for like bikes on features that are standard vs extras. E.g. Triumph has Bluetooth as optional extra while Honda has it as standard.
I was disappointed to see that the Triumph Daytona 660 hasn't got a squarish type tft display, and they are using the dull display from the other 660 models!
i think it will be rs 660 followed by daytona 660 n then honda 650r top 3 best picks for anyone....i somehow feel daytona perfectly sits in the middle of value for money package if thy had added quick shifter in std package.....
I have a Triumph Trident and love it and up until recent have been wanting to ride the RS 660 but now the Daytona came out I'm excited it's pretty simple to get down to two for me and to get to the one am I going to put it on a track or not if so RS 660 if I'm going to remain a weekend warrior I think the Daytona
The best middle weight sportbike is still the ZX-6R now that the R6 is gone. Then followed by the updated CBR600RR that is now fitted with IMU. These 2 bikes have not received major updates for ages but they are still the best and most powerful middleweight, and also they are true sportsbike (aggressive riding position, high revving engines).
Ofcourse you made it regarding to your country… duh. But for example im from turkey and since we have different import/export deals with european countries and uk, triumph is way cheaper than japanese brands, and for unknown reason kawa and suzuki are significantly expensive than yamaha and honda, so that really changes to dynamics of the list for us. But in mu heart i’ve been waiting for triumph to make what yamaha did with mt07 and r7 and make a sporty full fairing version of trident, which came out as daytona and upset some people but, they said they stopped daytona for good couple years ago. 660 daytona is better than non existent 675 daytona ❤️❤️
Interesting vid. My pics would be the Daytona 660 & GSX8R with the ZX4RR as an honourable mention. RS660 is nice but it's a bit too expensive & the reliability is a question mark compared to all the other bikes on this list.
I’m interested in the gsx-8r. Upgrade the suspension and it’d be a well rounded do everything bike. Can’t wait till my local dealer gets one so I can go check it out.
@@cantwheelie_rob True, thought the same. Although the forks are going to be hard to upgrade due to the bar style & position so they'll need changing too if you've a cartridge kit or different fully adjustable forks with adjusters on top.
What does it for me really is the size. Im just looking for *an* A2 bike and im 194/6'4. The suzukis (gsx8r and 8s) are both the best fitted for me in the class it seems. But then again the triumph also looks really interesting and like it might fit even though it is smaller. But my point is that almost everything i look at seems cramped and i rarely ever see that talked about as a factor in bike reviews. I get that not everyone is as tall as me, but only being told to get an adventure bike also sucks.
- not in the same category, that's really a track bike as are the Ninja ZX4 RR, Ninja ZX6r, GSXR 600and 750 ! those are track bikes that ppl can legally ride on the street. The one's in the video are sport touring bikes , mainly for the street.
The RS660 is the leader in sheer performance and tech, although the Daytona 660 might be better for riders more geared towards commuting/city riding. Will be interesting to see how CFMotos new 675 triple will stack up against these. I think throwing the CFMoto 800 (KTM 790) twin into a sport chassis similar to the 450SS would be a killer option as well. Suzuki missed the mark on the GSX-8 with non adjustable suspension and almost 40lbs heavier than the R7.
Just look at the comments. They're all very vague like, "I have heard a horror story". But no one has ever seemed to have experienced one commenting. Or "Italian's, something, something ". That old trope from the 1990s. I think it would be irresponsible for him to say any more than he did.
Nice one Bob. Still can’t work out why Honda decided to include a twist and go system for the CBR650R. If anything, I thought the CBR500R would have been the better choice.
The absolute king in this category is not mentioned unfortunately. Yes it’s the most expensive but if you want a bike with the most power, best features and best looks, then you absolutely have to look at Ducati SuperSport 950S.
Thats a different category . In fact the zx4rr shouldn’t have even been mentioned in this video. Different style of riding, it’s essentially a mini zx6r. But I’d love to have one.
Hey @motobob . Do you have review of the new CBR600RR on the way? I have one ordered which is to be delivered in about 2 months, but so far no reviews of the bike has been made. Seems strange that Honda has not shipped any bikes to be reviewed when it is so close to launch. Love your channel!
Those are super sports aka street legal race bikes with the more cramped leaned forward ergonomics and wicked peaky high revving engines, not standard sport bikes. The ZX4RR has more approachable street friendly ergonomics despite having the peaky engine…
@@kennedyracing7527 the bikes listed are middleweight sports bikes, 1 level up from like a Ninja 300 or R3. The bikes you referred to are super sports. More money, more aggressive, a lot faster…

Im a simple lad..i see honda cbr , i click
For me zx400 rr in retro green ,blue and white.
i think it will be rs 660 followed by daytona 660 n then honda 650r top 3 best picks for anyone....i somehow feel daytona perfectly sits in the middle of value for money package if thy had added quick shifter in std package.....
Good video, question for you, would you buy the RS660 or pay the extra for a Honda cbr600rr?
Those are Supersports. The video is about middleweight sports bikes.
👍
Do you recommend Fireblade as the most reliable bike?
@@ragerider6283 I’m sure options will surface soon. That’s the good thing about Japanese bikes. Aftermarket mods are never an afterthought.
@@cantwheelie_rob True enough. Just got to be patient I guess.
You could’ve added the ZX-6R in the 600 cc segment… it’s the most powerful out of all of the ones you mentioned
Would love to have the Aprilia but the price in my country converted to pounds is almost 13k. INSANE
According to TST Industries, the YT channel that offers aftermarket products to almost bikes, the 8R fixed what's wrong with the 8S
You missed the Honda CB600RR?
Probably the best looking of them all.
Love to get a review on the cbr650RR!
You missed the Honda CBR600RR. Top of the list for me :D
the 600rr is more of a supersport than a sport bike
- not in the same category, that's really a track bike as are the Ninja ZX4 RR, Ninja ZX6r, GSXR 600and 750 ! those are track bikes that ppl can legally ride on the street. The one's in the video are sport touring bikes , mainly for the street.
The ZX4RR is crippled in North America to about 50HP for some reason. You need an ECU flash to unlock the full power.
Don’t be discouraged by the tier list format, you’ll have plenty of fun on all of these bikes, even the dopey ninja 650.
Im 6feet 3 which would you suggest.
if you are getting feed back ref reliability with Aprilla, it may be interesting too know more!
I will put a reservation for the cbr 600rr.
How about the most favorite stunt bike Kawi ZX6R?
Thats a different category . In fact the zx4rr shouldn’t have even been mentioned in this video. Different style of riding, it’s essentially a mini zx6r. But I’d love to have one.
Hey @motobob . Do you have review of the new CBR600RR on the way? I have one ordered which is to be delivered in about 2 months, but so far no reviews of the bike has been made. Seems strange that Honda has not shipped any bikes to be reviewed when it is so close to launch. Love your channel!
2 motnhs later, GSX8R is the new star of the show.
Not the best for the hardcore enthusiast, but for everyone else.
I’m waiting for the 2024 Honda CBR650R to come to the US
Would like to see where the new CBR600RR would be on this list.
what's you opinion on zx6r?
Cbr 650🔥🔥🔥
Now all things considered guys would you take the Ninja 650 or Tuono 660??
Free Advice for people watching this video and are hoping to get a middle displacement Superbike please, "wait for the CFmoto 675 SS/SR".
Aprilla reliability fucks it all up
Middle sport: 650
Middle naked: 900😅
20 years ago any 600cc calling its self a sports bike with less than 115bhp would have been laughed out of the showroom.
Only thing making me not to consider the GSX is the looks ngl
What about ZX-6R AND CBR600RR???
Gimme the Daytona 660. Every time. Any day.
My rs660 hasn’t given me any problems. That was the first year it had problems
I wish they made those Aprilia’s for tall people 😢
Calling that 660 a Daytona is an embarrassment for the 675R or the 765R!
I'm kinda surprised one can still find as many as 7 middleweight sportbike
what about zx6r 😢
So what your saying is…the Ninja 650 is the KLR 650 of sport bikes 🤔
Get that ancient ninja 650 out of here!
Anyone who says Aprilia isn't reliable never had one
I have a 2006 Aprilia rs125 with 44k km on its and its showing its first problems
Who needs traction control on a sub 100hp bike
We are so spoiled for choice these days. Even beginners have the RS457 and CFMOTO 450SRS coming up.
Why was the ZX6R not part of the list? If it's the price point or because it's a supersport, the Aprilia shouldn't be here either.
Why did you include the new CBR600 rr and the Kawi 636??
Those are super sports aka street legal race bikes with the more cramped leaned forward ergonomics and wicked peaky high revving engines, not standard sport bikes. The ZX4RR has more approachable street friendly ergonomics despite having the peaky engine…
@@sleeper.simulant7327 I disagree the title was best middle weight sport bikes.
@@kennedyracing7527 the bikes listed are middleweight sports bikes, 1 level up from like a Ninja 300 or R3. The bikes you referred to are super sports. More money, more aggressive, a lot faster…
The ninja 650 is not the 636 nor is the 400rr and the CBR650r is not the cbr600rr completely different bikes bud not even in the same class
@@Slayer66037 I know they’re way better than these other Middleweight
CBR650r someday!
Why are you not including Kawasaki ZX6R?
Its a shame Aprilia priced themselves out of the market. Even with frequent discounts, 33% more than a GSX-8R.
Assuming you can afford any of the list then, RS600 full stop
Isn’t the Ninja ZX6R a middleweight?
Yamaha bring back the R6 !!!
Zx6r ?? 🤔
What about zx6r?
Different category.
I’ll pass of Triumph products. They are known for having too many reliability issues. The features and looks are great-but the expense of the purchase plus breaking too often-the Japanese bikes are a better bet.
where is the king at the zx6r
ZX6r?
