This has probably been the most straight forward video concerning creating, hosting, and accessing a website on a synology NAS. This was awesome, and thank you a ton for posting this video. Being that I do not have a static IP, I need to use a dynamic dns for this. Have you had luck with setting up working with a DDNS for this process?

Thanks for the tutorial - how can we get SSL certs on these sites? If we secure our whole NAS with a letsencrypt cert, will that carry over to sites hosted through Web Station?

Hey, great video. I was wondering if you knew anything about hosting Python Flask applications on Synology NAS servers. I have a domain, I have the Flask app programmed, but I can't seem to get it running on the NAS. I assume the process would be somewhat similar to what you showed in the video, but I can't find any good resources online. Any tips?

I had tried to publish a simple website which I created on dsm 6 but the issue was when I try to connect from outside on my phone it opened too slow but in the lan everything is ok. Have you tried like that or the idea is only for home users?

no mention of domain names. My service provider gives me a random IP address. ~Now through the synology I can use the DS apps like DS Photo and DS Cam but how would I access my web page?

So that way I can host multiple domains on the nas.

How about using DDNS? Not everybody has a static IP address.

I'm a filmmaker and purchased a Synology DS920 to only hold files couple of months ago. Before this year, I'd never heard of the company, but now that I'm watching your video, it's exciting to know I can host a website for my film, without having to pay someone else to do it! How exciting! I wonder what else can the unit do?
it costs 12$ a year to rent domains from google, so its not entirely free.
How do you get your SSL certificate?
I always geht error 403. I did the all of the same steps but can't reach my site. Even not with my NAS IP. Can anyone maybe help me?

Does it matter if my NAS is a little older than the current model?
As long as you have web station app it should be fine. May run a little bit slower depending on your model, but I don’t think it should be a problem.
Can you host multiple websites via the NAS?
I have a readynas and it’s basically the same process as you did but i can’t wrap my head around on how to host multiple sites.

Yes! You can create separate folders within that web folder. But under the web virtual hosts you would need to select that specific folder as root. Let me know if that helps.
Can I hosting many different domain on synology server with mailserver with ssl protocoll? Would like to build my own hosting server for different domains different company's.
I believe you can, but unfortunately I have not set up mailserver yet. So I'm not entirely sure. I do plan on making a video sometime in the future and will keep this in mind!

Ok, I am confused... I don't seem to have any option to create any virtual hosts? There's not even any mention of anything called "virtual host" in my web station?
in newer version dsm 7.0, then you got to web station then-> web station portal (the icon still the same as on this video) click on it , then -> "create". and you have to choose-> "create service portal". than you'll be creating yours virtual host same way as on video. synology had some changes in UI.

Hi! Under "Control Panel - Security" you can import your SSL cert. You will have to apply it to your domain from the configure button that is in that section as well.

Yes, that is correct. You will need a service to make sure it updates on its own.

than your screwed- but it should not happen much maybe only 1x/month just let your clients know it might send them to a porn or different site and they should retry the site in about 10 min
You didnt explain that it doesnt work the same way if you create a new folder that is not "web"

I've done everything exactly as in the video, but sadly I still can't reach my NAS outside of my network. When I type in the domain name I assigned my external IP to I get the message ' This site can’t be reached '. Ports are open for the network address assigned to my NAS, but I just can't get this to work. Anyone had a similar issue and resolved it?
