I’m glad I built the carbon vs the RTR, I had to tear 1/2 of it down to install a new motor and not a problem took me 30 mins, if I’d done the RTR the motor would still be in its box
Spider No-face says you will have a good time building him. Also those portal box hats sure look a lot like Associated caster block hat bushings that are made from Aluminum. I was also reminded of watching Spencer Rivkin's build video of the B7 where he does shave/sand a bit from the steering block so that it fits more freely in the caster block. I know that's racing stuff but it might apply to this too if it doesn't simply wear in and there's still binding
When I build my O.G. GS02 BOM, I had really tight mesh in the rear diff. It was so tight I emailed Gmade about it with some pics of the assembly, and they said to just run it and it would be fine. Several years later it's just fine. Their kits are a bit odd, and some of the choices don't make that much sense, but I really do enjoy my Gmade as a trail rig. I used to use it for my comps before they got too serious and it did just fine.
Great video Mr Canyon, daft thing but I was looking at this kit in the UK last night and the next morning you released this video. Google knows man, it knows😮
Some of the newer Plastics is really crazy I got two buddies that do a lot of 3D printing when it comes to skid plate stuff like that now this is all smaller stuff but I have one of those hybrid tough little cheap Walmart drills are like 15 16 bucks they just plug in to charge them or whatever with a 1.4 the Plastics that you screw into can stop that little drill and I'm used to putting my 1.0 beatbox together with it so screwing through metal in the brass you know and being able to get them good and tight but that little plastic I just can't believe how strong it is and I mean when you first run the screw in you're putting the threads in yourself with that screw it's just very impressive
I wish there were more kits, be really interesting to hear from the manufacturers why they don't just allocate x% of stock to kit form, I'm sure they would just say due to sales. My only experience of non big 3 brand kit was MST (very good especially for the price) and SSD (zero branding/flash and a manual designed on a 90s desktop but good quality parts)
Nice to see there are still some decent kits out there, but paying 460€ for it is not what I will do. Looking forward to this build series anyway, I love watching you doing things I cant do 🤣
Search for his vids on “The Missing Link” and you’ll essentially get his thoughts on it. He built an IFS2 + Trailing Arm Enduro just a month or 2 back. 👌
Element be Elementing. They dug through the bins and conjured a "new" rig that required zero new parts. So instead of Builder's Kit 3, or blowing everyone's mind by putting a Stealth XF into something other than the SE series, we get this. Which I built out of scrap parts 2 months ago. Someone is going to ask me when I'm going to review it. I can all but guarantee it. Already got one. Built it. For cheap. It's pretty good.
They look identical, but I'd have to measure. I imagine the track on the Spider is wider than the Buffalo. Yep. 237mm track on the Buffalo, 269mm for the Spider. So they (most likely) bolted the portals onto the regular GA44 housings.
@@CrawlerCanyon I just looked it up and it's all in the gear box and nothing for option in the portals. The gear size difference in the portals doesn't make any sense at all. It looks very capable still. We will wait and see what the Canyon expert thinks.
Off topic. Just built first set of Globact wheels and compared to injora. Globact suck. Screws are weak cheap crap. Wheels aluminum is soft. Small bead lip made it tuff to keep tire in place. Anyone else feel this way or did I just get a crappy set.
Globact probably doesn't actually make anything. I have like... 8(?) sets of virtually identical Method 105 clones, from at minimum 5 different... what do we call them? Sellers? Dealers? Regardless. Aside from sometimes having their name on the inner ring, all the same wheel. So I think it really depends on what style of wheel it is, and how good that OE was at making it. Whether or not the hardware sucks is just a total crapshoot. But that's what we get for 30-ish bucks.
I built something out of parts I had on hand, which is what Element has been doing for several years now. God forbid we get BK3. Or a successor to the GK-- with a proper cage this time. If Element had announced Gatekeeper 2 with IFS2, Stealth XF, and trailing arm rear-- but housed in a cage a la the Capra, I'd probably buy one.
To me if they make rtr on this buy it no machines gears. Also the face on their air cleaner logo or this 6 leg spider the mouth and eyes remind of the styling on “drama masks”…theater. Red cat quality here for sure. Horizon I’m irritated with like spektrum ew. But with the stupidity of the output shafts will be equally remembered the same as there wheel hex to pin. We all tend to learn the best through pain mental or physical.
The "we only use one of this screw" feels very Axial. The Ryft cage has like 6 different lengths of screws holding it together. For no perceivable reason.
@@CrawlerCanyon😂 like cooperate managers having to confuse one’s work life to justify their worthless presence. Yuck on diff screw lengths my feelings when I was flat rate working on fords on late 90’s and early 2000’s. Well gosh I sound negative Batman…Truth hurts I like cars that fit on the bench take care😉.
Some are needle bearings, some are caged loose bearings-- but the caged ones typically use bearings between 5/8" and 7/8". So like, bigger than a gumball. I'm talking about not putting CV joint grease in RC car bearings. I felt like I had given that context, but I guess not. Also, it makes absolutely no difference here, as our driveshafts bear no resemblance to 1:1 driveshafts.
Gmades axle bevel gears are made of cheese. How do I know I’ve replaced mine 5 times and the new ones already grindy. Good luck buying any bevel gears they’re constantly sold out….
They're pretty much always in stock whenever I check at Gmade. Two week minimum on that shipping time, though. Can't complain too loudly at 7 bucks a gear. Would be nice if they had a machined option. Or just machined from the start. I'm less upset to see sintered in a Gmade axle than I am to see it in a Vanquish axle.
@@craigpimlott204you can always make jewelry for your loved ones with the broken ones. Bevel gear earrings maybe a pendant? You’d still have 5 left over.
I was really looking forward to it because I like that kit better than the axial but, come on, its freaking 2024 and they are still offer a kit that needs an engineering degree to put together ? And that from a corean company? Very disappointing up to now . 🙄
Nothing like sitting down and building a kit. Just finished a VRD build. So much more rewarding than buying a RTR.

48:04 man I love this hobby! Never have said "WTAF, dude???!?" as much in RC compared to all other areas of my life.
Love watching the builds even if they're not of your design, I like the mechanical side of things looking forward to the next one. Thanks

I just pick up the spider myself! I believe it's got potential depending on your style of driving
This is one that’d never crossed my feed of RC before. Keen to see how it turns out!
Glad to see you are building/reviewing this. I have been saving $ to buy one myself.
The performance had better be worth it.
It’s nice to see a kit build any day, but doubly so when it’s outside the standard Traxxas/Axial/Vanquish/Element ecosystem.
Love the vid. Look forward to part 2

Question: What do mean when you say the shock oil is yellowish? Is there something that may be added? Thanks for all the incredible content!
The tint implies the possibility of mineral oil instead of silicone. Yo no quiero mineral oil.

Did you order any "upgrade" parts from Gmade?
My question is; Is the axle housings the same width as the Buffalo or are they narrower?

Overdrive gears in the portals?
If Gmade does them as an option. The 6-to-5-to-4 stepped stubs mean 10.3/Capra gears won't fit.

It is an easy build. The gearbox is only 5 pages, but some "individual" steps have 5 or more parts.
