    Well crafted; terrible message. This targets people who seek authority and violence rather than people who want to protect and help their community. This appeals to the exact audience responsible for our nation's current distrust of police.
    Like I said, perfect advertisement for your target audience; terrible advertisement for trying to recruit competent officers that benefit their community.

    Very nicely made recruiting video but more fiction than fact. People that join because they like what they see on this video will be sadly disappointed once they are on the job and see the realities of modern day policing. If you actually care about helping your community, have a thick skin, strong stomach for the amount of evil you will see/have to deal with then consider it. Those of you looking for a paycheck/secure job, do yourself a favor, save yourself a lot of time/effort and seek life elsewhere. I would recommend anyone thinking of pursuing a career in law enforcement first go on a few ride alongs with your local PD or Sheriff Dept if they offer it. Ask to go on day and night shift/cover different districts of your community of possible. It's one thing to see officers on dashcam videos and quite another to be there in person sitting alongside them in a police cruiser while they patrol/answer calls for service. You will see first hand the type of element they deal with day in and day out. If this is your calling then I wish you all the best of luck. Stay frosty out there!

    What you put out there as recruitment will attract certain types ... if you like guns , army , flash bangs ,drama and taking down baddies you'll get o e type ...take a look at new Zealand police adverts ...it's police jamming music in a lift ,dancing together, doing fun exercises ,running ,yelling out stuff as they go .male and female together ,helping people ..all in a humorous way ....I don't know how they got a tradition of whacky humour but I suspect Maori help....they even dress up for All Fools Day and Christmas

      It doesn't really show what it's like to be a first responder. The flashy stuff is interesting, but SWAT doesn't really come out to play very often. Most of police work is going to and trying to resolve arguments/fights. it can be a really interesting job and I know a lot of guys who are great at it and love it. But at the same time, talking to someone who is irritated at the teenagers next door for playing music too loud isn't exactly counter strike

    I like this video, but some elements that I saw disturbed me. The are at points 0:35, 1:26, 1:29, and 2:27.
    Now take into account that I am a military veteran and I classify myself as a conservative before you start attacking my person and not my argument.
    Why are we militarizing the police force? It seems to me that we are turning our civilian police forces into military soldiers, which is kind of like something the founders of this country complained about when they published the Declaration Of Independence. This is the issue of having military/combat trained soldiers patrolling/policing the people.
    Sure you can argue that the threats faced by police officers is greater now than it ever has been before in the history of the United States, however the statistical evidence from the Bureau of Labor shows that police work isn't the most dangerous job in the country.
    From 1970 to 1980: police deaths averaged 231 per year.
    From 1980 to 1989: police deaths averaged 190.7 per year.
    From 1990 to 1999: police deaths averaged 161.5 per year.
    From 2000 to 2009: police deaths averaged 165 per year.
    From 2013 to 2014: police deaths averaged 113 per year.
    In 2018, police death's were at 148, which sounds high, but if you eliminate accidents, and other non-violence related deaths (like illnesses), then the number drops to 114.
    (Please note that I kept the Automobile Crash fatalities included in the count because we don't know if they were chase-related or not. That count stands at 28.)
    (On an even sadder note, more officers commit suicide than die by violence each year. We have to figure out why this is and help the officers with the stress I think this over aggressive war on drugs, crime, etc. puts on them.)
    On the other side of the equation, from 2000 to 2014, the FBI reported an average of 390 justifiable homicides by police each year, with a very slight (but erratic) upward trend.
    Fatal Encounters’ data from earlier years is admittedly incomplete, but they have so far collected more than 14,000 records of people killed in interactions with police from January 2000 through June 2016. That's an average of 823.5 fatalities per year.
    There needs to be a police force, that I agree. We need them to help keep the community safe and enforce law. Their job is to protect and serve the public. However, I don't think we should arm them like the military.
    The purpose of the military, and having the advanced weapons, tactics, vehicles, etc. that the military does, is so they can go and KILL the enemy.
    Again: KILL the enemy
    Is the American public the enemy? I hope not.

      @Malice211 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Dave Halstead ...it’s their SWAT unit. That setup is ideal for any close quarter operations. You think tacticool has to do with being “militarized”

    • @02shooter20
      @02shooter20 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dave, take this into consideration. First of all, don't simply rely on numbers of officers killed per year as your determination as to how dangerous police work is. I would argue that police work is very dangerous, more so now than ever before, as criminals are better armed, better trained, and themselves more dangerous than ever. But police officers learn from other officers sacrifices. Our training is very focused on officer safety, and maybe what you call the "militarization" of police has helped to save police officer's lives. Criminals are not simply getting better armed because we are, it is the other way around. We are arming ourselves better because the criminals that we deal with everyday are getting more and more heavily armed. So our "militarization" is helping to keep us alive. As a veteran yourself, would you have wanted to kick a door on a house in Afghanistan, knowing you had to go inside and look for someone armed with an AK 47 hellbent on killing you, when all you had was a Beretta 9mm? And no body armor? We don't pull out the big guns just to go out on normal calls, traffic stops, and other interactions with the public. But when we kick a door and go into a known criminal's house, someone who most likely is heavily armed, with the intention of taking away his freedom for what could end up being decades behind bars for him, and knowing that he may not want to go peacefully, we go in wearing all the protective gear we can get our hands on and as heavily armed as we can be. Why? Because it's not in our job description that we are expendable. We want to stay alive and go home to our families just like soldiers do when they are deployed. I am a veteran myself, from the early 1990's. I have no combat experience, but I have a great deal of respect for those who do. I have been a police officer in Texas for 23 years and I can assure your that I have seen criminals with AK 47's, AR 15's, high quality and high capacity pistols, and on an on. Gone are the days of bad guys carrying a piece of crap .22 revolver that doesn't even function half the time. So we protect ourselves as best we can. Thanks for your service to our country. We used to sing in the Army, pick up a weapon and follow me. If you want to know why police are "militarizing", strap on a badge and follow me.

All police recruitment videos should show what policing is all about; enforcement of the law and protecting the public and not showing SWAT in action type thing .
      by the way, i conservative gun owning BRIT ! our police recruitment videos are the the opposite and look stupid and i cant stand them ; usually dipicting the police being polictical correct to gays , muslims , trans etc . I also cant stand idiots in europe and unfortunately other brits bad mouthing US Police , just beliving the media bullshit ! i have actually met mimi city police officers some years back and they are good officers and friendly . The UK police have they share of problems as well, however also having to deal with more knife and gun attacks as well.
      whilst the glock is in service in most police forces here, there is trend now to go with the sig p320 or the smith and wesson M&P all in 9mm none go for anything higher

I would advised people to have your phones ready to record any and all interactions with the police in the performance of their duties and to invest in a vehicle dash cam front and back video, so it's not your word against the officer's.

What good is a "Guardian" who can't fight? Yeah, I've seen your C.V., didn't notice any LE agencies mentioned on there. Just a whole lot of unspecific generalities. New cops today are wasting 1-3 years of their lives before realizing how oppressive the job is and quitting. Why do you think cops kill themselves at such high levels???? Duh. Nobody is going to buy your garbage self-published book, especially when you go around on TH-cam plugging it with easily disprovable lies like "there is no formal education in integrity for police". I've been a cop for 25+ years, and I've probably got more time in ethics classes than you do writing books.
