Same here. The tape is lost, but I still have that cassette sleeve. All time Exodus favorite ❤🤘 Thank you Rick for this, I just love to watch you answer these questions.
Rick, good to see you! He looks healthy, man that’s cool. This man right here is a beast on the guitar, he sometimes outshined Gary on the guitar and that’s saying a lot. I hope everything is good on the Exodus camp and hope we see more of Rick going on.
Rick thanks for taking the time to answer everyone’s questions. I saw you around the Toxic Waltz time. Exodus at that time was ducking insane live in front of 200 people in Fort Wayne Indiana. You guys threw down for a di my hardcore audience. Thanks for your work ethic despite the poor turnout that night. One of the best shows I ever saw. Forbidden and a local legendary band Ratzkrieg opened up for you guys. I have been a fan since Bonded by Blood. I never get sick of that album. Thanks!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and memories Rick. I miss seeing and hearing you in the band. I hope to see you onstage with Exodus again someday \m/
Pleasures of the Flesh is quite an overlooked album. No one ever talks about it not even the band members themselves. It's an AMAZING , EXCELLENT album even though it had bad mixing. I totally see silver linings in it.
One of the best Q and A’s I had seen so far! Rick is a pure professional, he keeps the session smooth and flowing without having to curse and use any obscenities. 👍
good to see you and i hope the h team is back. 89 in vancouver i was standing 3 feet behind you guys. was just awesome, my favorite band right there watching the opening act with me. you are one of my favorite guitarists and have been for a long time. cheers.
Last time I saw you guys live was in NYC CBGB 1998/99 I went to the back of that small place and spoke to you and Paul ballof you guys treat me sooooo well ,not much Gary but you guys was awesome, thanks I will never forget that!!!!!
IN 04-05 I met Rick at they're old (now gone) rehearsal spot and he offered to give me guitar lessons. They kind of became just me hanging out and asking him about exodus and life. He's a great guy with a really positive energy about him. He was super inspirational to me at that time (I mean so was Gary and all of exo but I didn't have any personal relationship w them). Sincerely, a fucking total exodus fanboy for life lol
Growing up in the bay area 80s-90s. I've been fortunate to see exodus a bunch of times. Always off the hook ape shit crazy time!!! Much love and thanks for all the memories Rick! Miss seeing you up there man. Hope to start seeing you more!
Killer guitar player, thrash metal pioneer but just as importantly - maybe more - what a cool fucking guy. Miss hearing him play but so glad that dude is happy and doing well. Saw him as a kid in 85' with Anthrax, Exodus and Celtic Frost at Harpo's in Detroit... PRETTY sure I saw him and Gary do that guitar duel that he mentioned that night, too! What a memory! Here's hoping that somehow, things work out to see him again out on the road in the future. LOVE YA, Rick!!
I loved getting spun out of my mind on that good old school crank(not that weak crystal shit) and going to see these guys play. They always killed it and had the gnarly pits.
And one note when I met dude he had a JSX and a triple X and a Bernie Rico. So fuckin sick. I bought a triple x a few years later when I was 18 and still play it
GOT TO JAM WITH YOU,GARY AND ERIC CANNON ON BASS IN PORT RICHMOND IN THE TEA FACTORY,RIGHT BEFORE THE PLEASURES TOUR.TOMS KIT WAS THUNDER.IT TOOK GUTS FOR ME TO ASK TOM TO PLAY HIS KIT-LOL-YOU ROCK MAN-CAN'T WAIT FOR NEW EXODUS!!
Rick, I believe it was at the Manchester Apollo when you fell through the stage. You have some great influences and I believe you had guitar lessons from Mr Satriani. 🤘🤘
Rick I miss your contrasting style with Gary. You guys kill it! I hope you’re still playing. I’d love to hear any music you’ve worked on. Talk about chemistry. The H team had it! I’d love to see you do some vids on how to play classic Exodus. So good to see you and enjoyed the hell outta your responses.
I myself use the sh5 custom pickup. I originally got because Gary played with them along with the peavey xxx. It’s cool to hear Rick used that same pup back in the day before they switched over emgs.
One of the best solos from you guys will be ARCHITECT OF PAIN ,also I never heard this song live will be special for me and I'm always a fan from you guys ,you and Gary is like Batman and Robin should never been apart, one of the greatest pair in heavy metal history!!!!!!!
my personal paul bailoff story: hangin out at ruthies inn he's wearin a puffy dark army green ski jacket and he looks like a hand grenade!...after that, i always referred to him as 'the human hand grenade' 🤘🏼thanks for sharing🤘🏼
Hey Rick! You da man! I was fortunate enough to meet you on Pleasures tour in San Antonio Texas! Autographed my ticket, and what a nice, wonderful, genuine person you were and are. I agree with you 100%..... it's all about the love and how you treat people. Surround yourself with good, great, people. And also fortunate to meet Gary years later on Kreator (Hordes of Chaos!!!) tour, again in San Antonio. You and Gary...... and Lee, are the most killer ass thrash mother fuckers, EVER!!! You've al influenced me, PERIOD!!! I always love the harmonies you guys have created. Chills up my fucking SPINE, BRO!!! Love you, man! I love all you brothers! "WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE SO HEAVY?!!!!!" BUUAAAHAAHAHAA!!!!!!!
I seen Exodus at Ruthie's in Berkeley, Louisville Gardens with Anthrax and Helloween during the Headbangers Ball Tour. I also seen them a couple of times in Fresno at Strummers and I met Rick at the Cadillac Club. The first 3 albums were my favorite. I fell off the Band wagon years ago. However Rick Hunolt is one of my inspirations. Exodus music definitely went down hill once him and Rob McKillop left the band. I love that guy, hope I run into him again somewhere here in California.
Always loved Chemi- Kill. It's the best riff they ever wrote. That and Lesson In Violence. I loved Pleasures. It's my fave album. Seeds of Hate and Parasite are also epic.
thanks for answering my question rick!! pronunciation on the last name could use some work lol but interesting though about the germans n french. always thought it was a dutch name somehow
I enjoyed the tones , the magazine articles , and drumming very much when I was in high school (1986). I went to the Celebrity Theatre Show (Orange County , Calif.) and the sound was similar to surround sound with headphones. I saw a female fan from that show behind bars too. Maybe I was hallucinating. I don't know. I'm still adjusting to life as you all know it. Doing just fine. Don't got no weed for the BUFFALO BILLS GAME tomorrow though.
Sounds like Rick wants back in?! I WISH they would tbh!! I love Lee don't get me wrong but i grew up with the H-Team since day one! He is an integral part of their history and classic albums now that Heathen will be going strong, Lee should go back and get that classic band back running and bring Rick back in! H-Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember getting Pleasures of the Flesh and just being blown away by the guitar playing. H team were the best players in thrash.
Same here. The tape is lost, but I still have that cassette sleeve. All time Exodus favorite ❤🤘 Thank you Rick for this, I just love to watch you answer these questions.
Agreed, those two were fucking killer, could never pick a favourite Thrash partnership between them and Hanneman/King..
But fuck aye, Holt +Hunolt!
Same. I still get blown away every time i play it. Which believe it or not, is quite often. That album is timeless for me.
Tempo of the Damned was one of your shining moments!
I got to see them on that tour twice. So glad I did. One of the best Exodus tours ever
@@pleasuretokill Saw them with Megadeth back in '04 (Steev Esquivel performed vocals)
I had a chance to meet Rick he told me he was most proud of HIS guitar work on Impact and Tempo.
Dude, a Rick Hunolt signature model by Jackson? I’d get that immediately. Love Jackson guitars. Good call!
Jackson Guitars do indeed ROCK............
I’ve met Rick before; he’s a very friendly, humble, down-to-Earth guy.
I've met Rick as well a totally down to earth guy he didn't have a ego or anything about him. Very cool individual.
After hearing the story of Rick falling through the stage multiple times I wish there was video of it. Shits funny as hell. 😆
Bring back Rick, and have Exodus with 3 guitar players like in Iron Maiden!
Why the hell not
BEST COMMENT EVER!!!!
I love this idea!!!
@Exodus
Rick, good to see you! He looks healthy, man that’s cool. This man right here is a beast on the guitar, he sometimes outshined Gary on the guitar and that’s saying a lot. I hope everything is good on the Exodus camp and hope we see more of Rick going on.
Rick is awesome! He still has that youthful energy that so many lose when they turn 20!
Rick is way cool - I'm FB friends with him.

I remember piling in a taxi after metalween at berkeley keystone;) waking up, to you, ripping "no Love' with no amp. Me and Mimi, lonnie, and toby.
Great to see Rick again, the falling thru the stage story was hilarious 😂

One of the best Q & A’s I ever watched on this channel. Rick is a hell of a cool guy, well spoken with great stories.
A definite thrash legend!
The best guitarist of Exodus. Far away from the other.
Changing of the Guard is LEGENDARY. Best solos on any Exodus song, imo. Monumental choices/composition. A+++ \m/
