Spencer I used to be pretty fat then i got into running and ran a good 800 freshman year and saw your 8 minute abs video over the summer and started doing it. Now im pretty strong in my core. That stuff works man
Loved the commentary over the races. Watching the races with tunes is always super hype but getting to hear your thought process as you go through the race is awesome in a different way
absolutely correct Justin - Spence did an amazing job narrating the action AND for me a HUGE plus was Spence kept "SLOW MO" OUT of the vid. As a viewer, I'm so amazed how fast these elites run and I want camera angles that promote a sense of SPEED ! I think SLOW MO is good for NFL replay challenges, but not for track and field {with the exception of a "photo finish" Ha! ] Spence had the perfect balance of "college life", pre race, the actual race, commentary, and conclusion - it was an "A + " in my book.
Really liked the commentary style, something different and I liked how it gave us some more insight into what you’re thinking about during different parts of the race!
yea 4:07 is really fast no matter how you cut it - that's 2:03 per 800 - if I ran 2:03 for an 800, I'd throw a party and invite all my friends over to celebrate LOL - Spence has run 3:59 for the mile before and I'm sure he"ll do it again. The guy seems to have a good head on his shoulders and he's destined for great things. Let's all keep encouraging him, because he's worth rooting for.
@@AdamsLTFC420 Don't be down on 8:04 - As long as you're doing your best, that's what matters - I don't know you, but if I had to guess, you're a person of integrity and honesty and that to me is more important than your mile time {with a good plan that time could easily fall} - I was worked with a guy {we were aircraft mechanics} he said he ran a 4:06 mile in high school and I believed him - but after a few weeks of research discovered he ran like 4:47 {which is still good] but I was pissed he'd lie about his time. Loved this video. Obviously disappointing about the races not going too great but you're keeping it real and keeping it about running and racing and that I can really appreciate and relate to.
That One I do not know what your point is, if you have a point and I’m not going to take on an argumentative attitude. I will just say two things. Sometimes fatigue hits harder the next day, and as you get older recovery becomes slower
Love the commentary over the races Spencer, its cool to get a sense of how you were feeling during the race since watching on video you can't tell how tired someone really is or isn't
You're my favorite youtuber you give me hope in my running and keep me motivated, also it wasn't two bad races but actually two good workouts!! Stay hungry Spence you got this!
Just subscribed and "rang the bell" - the video was an A+ . You're really a breath of fresh air. You are the real deal and I'm positive the Good Lord has many great things in store for you. Try not to be so down on a 4:07 indoor mile. Even on what you call a "bad day", you're still pretty darn fast !!!! You just so happen to go to the same school that my FAVORITE basketball player plays for - Mac McClung - have you seen Mac play ? - I think you and Mac have one thing in common & that being both of you will turn pro in their respective sport - keeping up with McClung kind of helped me stumble on you and the main reason I stumbled on McClung was because I grew up in Fairfax VA only about 20 miles from Georgetown U. Anyway, the important thing is I found your channel since track and field is my favorite sport. Just out of curiosity what are you majoring in at Georgetown U. ?
It’s awesome you guys raced up in Bloomington. I’ll be racing there in a couple weeks at an open high school meet. I use rungum before every run and I’m a coffee drinker in the morning lol. Don’t be sad about a bad race bro, happens to the best of us. Keep your head up. 4:08 and 4:07 miles within a 24 hour period are incredible.
"The story you're about to see is true, the names have been changed to protect the innocent" OR is it "the story you're about to see is true, The names have been changed to prosecute the guilty" LOL
I ran a poor 1600 leg my last meet too. It is easy to overthink these things. Hopefully we can both bounce back in a big way next time we lace them up.
Matt Payamps went to Saint Anthony’s which is about 10 mins away from where I live. Me and my teammates used to always marvel at his ability when he ran at championship meets. Absolute beast. Also 4:07 is fine at this point you’ll go under 4mins soon enough.
Great race Spencer, 4:08 isn't something to be ashamed of at this point in the season. Shout out to my man Arjun Jha for out kicking you in the DMR lol.
I really enjoyed the commentator video. I would not mind if you were to continue doing your race videos like this, but also if you were to switch back to what you were normally doing I would not mind as well.
Hey bad races happen to everyone my dude! Just because you are super fast doesn’t mean you are perfect! And it is the lack of imperfection that makes you entertaining. If I knew you would win every race and not get better why would I watch? Haha
And let's not forget, it's really hard for a college runner to "hit home runs" 4 years in a row. It happens in all sports - how many times have we seen in MLB, a guy gets called up and "sets the world on fire" only to suffer the following year the proverbial "sophomore slump" - I can think of several really fast college runners who had incredible sophomore seasons followed by a "down" junior year {"down" meaning they still ran OK, but somewhat off of their PB's} - this is normal - my theory is, it's the body's way of trying to recover and heal from all the grind. If we are true "Spence Fans", we need to root for his LONG term success. The guy's got incredible talent, he could be a guy to really go after the Kenyans in years to come. {the Brits I think he's got that covered now, except for Mo LOL}
gdi spencer you're doing great. and it's like you say: trust the process. you're gonna have off days and off races, but there's always an X factor in there you can't control. the invisible flying bastard jellyfish suckin the water out and dehydrating you the night before, shit like that. do everything you can for the best prep possible, so when you get there you can eat that bastard jellyfish and smash 4 lmao idk remember to take time to enjoy it too
