Do you know more about the gold tone pendant with Jade? I have the same one and wasn't sure about it. Did you test the diamond above? If it fake? Please help! Thank you
Eyes....best one....with 576 megapixle of resolution. It is funny that people use machine to identify gems in West. Here in India If you go to jwellers and use this machine to identify gems...you will be in an awkward position....BTW good meachine for rookies
The clear stone in the ruby necklace you bought yourself could be spinel, topaz, or a white sapphire. Did you know that years ago spinels were so commonly used in fake jewelry, that many people, including my sister and I grew up believing they were fakes! Now they have come i to their own and are going up in price.
You are so fortunate to have inherited the emerald ring and the ruby ring (other video) from your grandmother. They are absolutely gorgeous - just my style - plus the sentimental value!!
I'm just learning gemology and recently purchased a few gemstones. This video was very helpful and i will look to purchase this or a similar product to help quickly check for fraudulent glass items.
The closer the needle is to the end of the corresponding black line means its QUALITY STONES!! Each line is each type of gems threshold so that means lesser quality gems should read like half way or more towards the left and QUALITY STONES MAX OUT!!
The Presidium II tester instructions specifically says you must place the wand point as close to 90 degrees as possible in relation to the gem surface to get an accurate reading. I see you very often pressing the wand point onto the gem at an oblique angle, and so that is going to affect the accuracy of the reading for that gem. I know it takes practice to get that to be second-nature when using the wand, and since you just got your gem tester, you'll get it down pat soon. -- On the other hand, your video is very well done and very informative. It's actually one of the best I've seen for providing concise / precise information for amateur gemologists - and very demonstrative - meaning you show everything you're doing - unlike so many that don't - leaving the viewer guessing - and you do it so well without any trace of that annoying condescending "expert voice" tone we often encounter in other gemology videos. -- I really enjoyed this instructive video and look forward to your others. Thanks.
Thank you Texas Gal your video was very beneficial. I had just received my new presidium in the mail but had no clue as what to do with it bc it came with very limited instructions. Now I can test all my stones and accurately price my jewelry for sale. YOU ARE SPECIAL, THANK YOU & GOD BLESS🤗
I loved this video! I'm going to get one of those machines. Fun! Your grandmothers ring-WOW what a stunning piece with a huge emerald and all those diamonds!!!! Have you had that appraised? Keep it under lock and key!! Thanks Margaret for showing us this.
Margaret, this equipment is sensational !! I would love to have one like this. I know you will enjoy it, as it will help with identifying gemstones and listing jewelry with the added confidence of knowing precisely what a piece contains. Wow! Thanks for the demonstration. I hope you will have additional opportunities to use this again on your channel. Take care, and keep on sharing. Love your channel !
@@TexasGalTreasures you should that ring is worth a lot and should be insured the emerald alone is awesome plus all those diamonds it could be in the tens of thousands easy
I have my acid testing kit, magnet, and diamond tester from Amazon which has saved me a few times. I'd LOVE a unit like this though so I don't have to keep running up to our local gem shop to test what something is and feel guilty for not buying anything. Lol
I just received one of these for Christmas. I calibrated mine and did do some testing. Pleasantly surprised that some tested for being real stones. My question is, when testing, do you just touch the needle to the stone or do you actually have to press it all the way down just like you have to when you calibrate? I did it both ways. With diamonds, it went all the way up, regardless. I could just touch it with the needle and it registered. Just want to make sure I'm doing it correctly. Thanks
I have one and using it a lot to test jewlry I bought on eBay. I have 1 problem. I bought a few pieces of SPinel and 3 showed it was Spinel. THe 4th piece is a large pendant, concave cut that the seller who is the same person who sold me the other pieces, tested as glass. I tested it many times and it keeps showing glass. I did the UV light test and it does glows just a little. WHich test wqould you think is correct? THanks. Eudice

I have rough gemstones of every mineral!!! I believe I have a 30.1g/19.4dwt/150.5 carat diamond or clear garnet, or something super special!! Theres only a couple gems that do the optical phenomena that LORRAINE Does!! I'm tryin to save to get it tested!
Thanks for the video. Ive tested hundreds of stones with one of the $10 diamond testers and compiled a list of what number they go up to on the scale with it set at 1, 1 being glass and 10 being diamond, my list does correspond to the scale on that tester, saph and ruby 8 to 9 for example. The test isnt perfect as with your device as it wont differentiate a lab grown stone and a genuine, its great to see if something is glass though, there is many more glass stones on the market then there is lab grown.
before identifying something immediately as the most "obvious" looking because it's luxurious or more expensive because it's "EMERALD OR JADE" because it's green, do search up color-names before the name of whatever the indicator is pointing to the closest, considering gems such as nephrite and jadeite are completely different varieties of minerals, as well as ruby and sapphire are different varieties of corundum, thermal and electrical conductivity of stones and the elements that make up the content of the stones is what's making the indicator on your device shoot up all the way to diamond when it's diamond and the others when it's around the others. If it's not shooting up to jadeite or nephrite, it's not Jade. The same reason the device isn't shooting up as quickly when it goes to glass. If you use a handheld device like one of those horrendously made but surprisingly accurate diamond selector devices that take 9v batteries, you'll even see how Jadeite and Nephrite will shoot up unbelievably quickly to high readings on the device. Such as right about where the ending of the black column that indicates nephrite, joins with the one that does with jadeite.
@@TexasGalTreasures Mhm! Anything to help out. I'm alright at the stuff so I'd love to help people figure out more on it so they can use the information better to their advantage.
Imperial Jade is more of a color, the two types of Jade are Eastern Jade or Jadeite [more transparent/translucent], where Western jade is Nephrite Jade which is softer & Darker. Chrysoprase Is pronounced Cr-is-oprase not Cairoprase. I hope this heps.
Even though the tester was in the Topaz, Sapphire range, doesn’t mean it’s Topaz. There are a lot of jewelers that use White Sapphires. My concern is when it overlaps like that. Then there are other tests that must be performed to make sure they are natural, if they have been treated, or if they are specific stones.

I've had one of these for a few months now and it's great for some things, but the category I find difficult is rock crystal. I get no registration at all into the quartz range or even into glass. There are a lot of stones I have that I know are not plastic or glass that just don't register at all. Is anyone else finding this? It would seem that it should register into the quartz category.
Try using g a magnet. If it doesn't stick to magnet, it may be silver or really good stainless steel, if it sticks to magnet, it probably isn't any good... Also if I rub good silver with my finger tip, I come away with black on my finger that is harder to remove than dirt or dust...

12:05 is probably green chrysoprase, otherwise it wouldve shot-up to near nephrite and jadeite considering both are similarly conductive.
