Actually if the F86 would have messed up the pilot because, as a 1st generation fighter made during the Korean War Era, it has only 6000 lbs of thrust and no afterburner. If he was used to 1970's era Jets, he would be used to using the engine's massive thrust to get out of trouble by climbing. With low time on the F86, he really wouldn't have appreciated how important that massive thrust had been to his flying experience, and adjust himself to emergency procedures if the thrust is not available

#9: Jimmy Leeward's aircraft suffered from a small nut and bolt failure on the elevator trim tab. This is what caused the A/C to pitch up violently. The unusual aspects of this crash are that the main spar held up to so many G's and the lack of a fire.
Wrong! The trim tab cannot cause a violent movement of an aircraft like that. The truth is that the pilot became unconscious and slumped over the stick causing the aircraft to pitch into the ground. The ntsb screwed up royally.
Hey nut job, also if you’ve watched the videos of the actual events before impact notice the plane pitching up violently long before losing the trim tab. The pilot was in his seventies and not in good physical condition. Nowhere physically fit enough to do what he was doing. He had a heart attack. As a knee jerk reaction pulled back on the stick then became unconscious and slumped over the stick causing it to be pushed forward then cause the plane to pitch down and into the tarmac. That’s what actually occurred.
Leeward died when his P-51 Galloping Ghost lost an elevator trim tab on the port elevator, causing his plane to pitch up at 17Gs before stalling and crashing into the ground. Leewrd was dead seconds afyer gis plane pitched up from the crushing weight of the G forces.. He got squished. Do your homework and get it right next time..
Me and my pal diverted and took a different route than we usually took in Shoreham to avoid the congestion on our way to Worthing, If we didn't divert we would have perished as well. We saw the mushroom smoke and fire about three miles out.
Omg. I was at the Ramstein air show! We were front row. I had just gotten ice cream and got back to our spot as the plane crashed right in front of our spot. My dad dove on my mom and i, then ran to help others. It was so scary.
I've gone to the blue Angels air show where I live it was absolutely spectacular and everyone stayed safe and the people that were organizing it made sure we did
I’ve seen two air crashes. When I was perhaps 14, my family and I attended an autumn festival. One of the attractions was helicopter rides. We watched as the helicopter went out on a run. It went up hesitated, then started to come down nose first into a small hill. The rotors hit first, then the chassis started cranking around several times. Nobody was killed. Another time about 10 years later, my folks belonged to a yacht club. Beautiful Saturday, I was on the fly bridge enjoying a drink. An air show a few miles away was starting up. I watched for about 10 minutes and then a fighter did a wide arc, and came in low. I thought that doesn’t look good. It crashed in flames. It was quiet for several seconds and then all hell broke loose with sirens and emergency vehicles. My cousin was in the service at Ramstien the day of the crash shown here. He had to suddenly help injured people find safety.
My ears are listening to your narration but my eyes are looking at images unrelated. My mind literally went bonkers trying reconcile what I hear with what I see. Gave up at 2:29....terrible video.
At the 1952 Farnborough crash after clearing up the debris from the runway the airshow continued the same afternoon! Our ancestors were built of tough stuff!
Yes, I have been to multiple airshows. And no watching this video does not make me fear them. There is at least as much danger in driving to the airshow. Finally, most of the video clips were not at all related to the incidents being discussed, and many times showed completely dissimilar planes.
has nothing to do with a crash , just ground pyrotechnics simulating ground bombing, again people are believing these pics are with the talking points , very misleading ,
Not only does this site not have film or video of the actual accidents, it misrepresents the facts and circumstances. My main concern was the Thunderbird F-4 crash at Dulles International that killed Maj Joe Howard. Despite assertions of this site, Maj Howard's death resulted from one of the few critical failure points on the F-4, airframe number 66-0321. The failure of the stabilator hinge attachment to its hydraulic actuator caused the stabilator leading edge to go down forcing the fighter into an uncommanded, high-g loop. Major Howard ejected, but the wind blew him into the fireball, which ignited his parachute canopy causing it to collapse fatally dropping him to the ground. There were two other fatal aircraft accidents at this air show, Transpo '72.
The Farnborough Crash was in fact a DeHavilland 110 or sea vixon that had just gone through the sound barrier when it broke up and crashed into the crowd. The test pilot John Derry and his observer were both killed.
Number 5: Probably one of the worst days of my life. Wasn't there to witness, but mum and her husband was. Never been so worried in my life. I lost 2 friends to this pilot.
You see, I went to an air show at Travis AFB back in 2014 on the Sunday show. Eddie Andreini was attempting to cut a ribbon, but then he was a little too low and the top of the 1944 "Super" Stearman Biplane struck the ground and slid until it came to a stop. That's when the fire occured.
I was at shoreham airshow when the crash happened, the plane was a vintage hawker hunter so the pilot couldnt eject, He survived in his cockpit during the crash
I've been to dozens of airshow. My dad was in the Air Force, and I am going to attend a couple more this Summer; one including the Blue Angels in my home town.
The Farnborough Airshow crash involved a new De Havilland DH110. You have not included any real time shots... I was there, and only 50 yards from where the second engine hit the crowd.
It wasn't a "spy plane" that may have caused the TU-144 crash. It was a French Mirage "chase plane" trying to take shots of it's unique "Moustache Canards" on the front of the plane. The theory was that there was no risk of collision but the TU-144 pilot was startled by it's proximity and pitched up into a stall. Because of competition they had de-regulated a safety feature on the TU-144 that restricted the Elevon's to 5 degrees pitch while the Moustache Canards were deployed instead it pitched to 10 degrees making the angle of attack to high and it went into a stall.
Let's see… Have I ever been to an, Air Show? Well yeah! Both when I was a child. Later as an independent, adult. And they are awesome! And they are creepy scary. And while some people want to see horrific crashes. I just love watching the pilots, accomplishments. With that aircraft. And so as a young child growing up in the 1950s & 60s. In Detroit, Michigan. They would have the annual air shows. At the then, mostly defunct, Willow Run, airport. When back in the day. They did a low level pass in front of the crowd. Going supersonic. In the good old days. And then about a decade later. I took a job in, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Working for a huge, advertising agency. And where one could, leave the office. Walk two blocks. And you are enjoying, a whiskey sour, waiting until the beer is as, cold as ice. While, enjoying a hot slice of pizza. But the winter of 82. Was a tough one. When, my, NBC Radio, newscaster, Bob. We went out on, a special celebrity interview.of Stevie Wunder. Downtown, DC at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. And Bob and I took a cab from, NBC's, Washington DC's, flagship, #1 rated, WKYS-FM. And I've hauled, about, 60 or 70 pounds of, expensive studio equipment. I was sitting, three or 4 feet away from, Stevie Wunder. He's awesome! When in the middle of our interview. One his entourage, bursts into the room with us. Which would have been rude. Had I been undressed. But I wasn't. And blurts out to all of us in the room. With folks from, other radio stations. Once this gal, burst into the room with us. She looks at all and asks, where's the engineer and the news man, from NBC? We acknowledged it was us. When she promptly tells us. That in the middle of the blizzard. Outside the cozy warmth. Of a high-end hotel. That our station, just called. And said… A passenger, 737 jet airliner. Just hit the, 14th St., Bridge. And NBC Radio said, we were the closest crew. And we had to go now. Approximately eight blocks away. Through, 4 feet of snow. From the blizzard all day. And hell! All I had was my, backup, handheld, pocket-sized, battery-operated, cassette recorder. To obtain, eyewitness descriptions. Questions and information from the, law enforcement agencies. Attempting a rescue. That hours later. Became a recovery. Of over, 140 people. Only six of which survived. When I then saw a hero. Lenny Skutnick. Make a decision. I was contemplating. To save this poor stewardess. On top of a chunk of ice. Blinded from the jet fuel. And trying to swim. On top of a piece of ice. As she was going under again. And Lenny ran in after her and save her life! Oh my God! I didn't move as quickly. I knew if I attempted that. There would be a good chance I would die of hypothermia. And I hesitated. He didn't. A true hero. As he did almost lose his life. From hypothermia. It only took minutes. The water was below freezing. And so that definitely, ruined my day. And to be outside in the elements, improperly dressed. For the next 18 hours straight, without a break. As the city and Rose had come to a standstill. Nobody was going anywhere. And NBC News. Could not get one of their camera crews down there. And so I was reporting back to, NBC, DC. When they then, redirected me. To call the home base. Up in New York City. It was difficult, interviewing the, police scuba divers. They are standing there in front of me. Clad in their wetsuits. And crying. Crying because. The water was too cold. Even for, scuba wetsuits. They needed scuba dry suits. Of which none were available from any law enforcement agency. In and around the, DC Metro region. Encompassing the Maryland suburbs and Virginia suburbs. When they then. Had to take a Maryland state, Bell jet Ranger, helicopter. To Ocean City, Maryland. Where the Coast Guard had, super cold weather, dry scuba suits. And an hour and 1/2 there. And an hour and 1/2 back. And by that time. Any hope, for survivors still in the, fuselage. Were in vain. And it's really hard to watch policing scuba gear, crying. And with no video. Just audio. So that was even worse day. For the passengers of Flight 90 of, Air Florida. That quickly went out of business after and because of that. And the passengers and the crew. Had a particularly rotten day. And…will not be able to remember. Because they are all dead. By the time I got home with my light jacket. I was suffering from extreme exposure being outside for approximately 18 hours. In subfreezing temperatures during a blizzard. And by the time I got home. I think I passed out before I hit my bed? And about, 12 hours later. My radio alarm clock goes off. Tuned then, to Washington DC's, premier, album rock radio station. With this schmuck DJ. Calling up Air Florida. And asking, how much a one-way ticket was to the 14th St., Bridge? And what do your stewardesses ask people? Do they want coffee, tea or, icewater? Ha ha ha. Of course who was that schmuck DJ? Why, none other than, pre-famous, Howard Stern. And he lost his job for that. Only to be picked up by, WNBC. In New York City. And awarded. With a, millions of dollars, contract. Why? Making fun of approximately, 136, dead family members and friends. Before they were extricated. From the fuselage. Already flash frozen. To stay fresh. In the morgue freezer. And what the FUCK Howard!!??! Man… Did that his me off! What an ass hole! Making his living. At others, unimaginable grief. I mean what the FUCK? Why is that even allowed? That is not entertainment! That's Mr. Feel Bad. And a worthless piece of, shit! So, thar ya go. Plane crashes, not fun. And I couldn't say goodbye to Stevie Wunder. RemyRAD
1991 at El Toro Marine Base in Orange County CA....f-86 Saber wasn't high enough on his loop, came down and hit the runway belly first and rolled in a ball of flames. He was supposed to have a mock dog fight with a Mig-15, but that pilot was in the hospital with the flu, hence why I wasn't recording, cause I thought the Mig was going to take off after that loop. The heat from the crash was was very fast...it was there and then gone.
On the day of the Shoreham Air Show, that you featured, was also the Bournemouth Air Show, less than 100 miles away. I just had this bad feeling. Then I heard the news…..
Myself and a friend attended the recent Dallas,TX Airshow a month ago this year (November 2022) and witnessed firsthand the B - 17 Flying Fortress and the P -63 collide in mid air. Pyrotechnics were going off at the same time so, naturally we were stunned as this was not part of the fireball displays. Never had I seen anything like it before. You could actually see both aircraft lying and just burning.
The Galloping Ghost crash was caused by extreme stress on the airframe which resulted in a failure of the left side trim tab on the horizontal stabilizer which caused the aircraft to lose control
I do not know why pilots do these air shows. I have heard of more pilot deaths in Airshows than any other form of aviation in my life and nobody talks about it.

Yeah I’m pretty sure we can see the oversized MiG in the thumbnail crashing into the forest you don’t need to circle it
I have always thought that an air show would be so awesome to go to but after seeing this I never want to go to one!
I've gone to the blue Angels air show where I live it was absolutely spectacular and everyone stayed safe and the people that were organizing it made sure we did
Emergency fireball?....lol
If it wasn’t 2021 this probably would have happened to us 🤣
Yep
It's safe to watch Airshows on television than watching them live. There is no guarantee when a plane will fall right on your head.
Most tragically you said FLUGtag 😂
This would have made a great side piece during a 3am, AM radio show! He shoots...He misses!
Read a few comments before deciding to watch a lot of baffling images
THE BEST OF THE BEST!
My ears are listening to your narration but my eyes are looking at images unrelated. My mind literally went bonkers trying reconcile what I hear with what I see. Gave up at 2:29....terrible video.
you lasted longer than I did. Shut it off at 1:29
Air shows are much safer than you driving a car on a road.
Hi ranron person skroling down the coment
Hi
This was so frustrating to watch. Show the damn actual footage. Nothing else
This would make a great podcast. Because you don’t need VISUALS! Sheesh.
Emergency fireball 😂
10:08 wow thats a big explosion!
has nothing to do with a crash , just ground pyrotechnics simulating ground bombing, again people are believing these pics are with the talking points , very misleading ,
@@bobob427 does he care? Care at all? IT WAS BIG
I couldn't watch this rubbish. Whoever put it together shouldn't give up their day job
Just wasted a bit of my life I'll never get back.
What a waste of time watching this
Wow such a realistic thumb, nor even a clickbait or something
I’m sad that people died:(
I was at shoreham airshow when the crash happened, the plane was a vintage hawker hunter so the pilot couldnt eject, He survived in his cockpit during the crash
The Hunter does have an ejection seat, he just cocked it up
OMG those are the craziest plane crashes I've ever seen not that I've seen one I'm glad I've scared of heights

Dang that mig-29 was huge on that thumbnail...

Hi everyone! 😁
I grew up going to air shows every year and never felt unsafe!
I was there on the 2011 air show, I fainted when the plain hit the ground
PLANE de PLANE(I think I spelled it right!)
No thunder BOLT I LOVE THAT I CAME THERE
Your visuals are appalling!
You’re being sarcastic right?
RemyRAD
You have way to much time
YES I've been to airs show and Loved them
First hey everyone
Hey
I like how the thumbnail looks like everyone is walking towards the crash
and the fact that the jet is as big as a 7 story tall building
My friend used to say "When people are the problem, the problem wont go
Myself and a friend attended the recent Dallas,TX Airshow a month ago this year (November 2022) and witnessed firsthand the B - 17 Flying Fortress and the P -63 collide in mid air. Pyrotechnics were going off at the same time so, naturally we were stunned as this was not part of the fireball displays. Never had I seen anything like it before. You could actually see both aircraft lying and just burning.
I’ve never been so confused by a video based on true events since the pictures don’t match the story.
I'm loving this presentation with no relevant visuals
The Galloping Ghost crash was caused by extreme stress on the airframe which resulted in a failure of the left side trim tab on the horizontal stabilizer which caused the aircraft to lose control
You'll never catch me at an air show or an indoor shooting range
The (heavily edited) pictures you show to illustrate the Ramstein Air Disaster have nothing to do with what really happened.
Tom Cruise can pull 9 G's cause he's The Maverick .
Pissing myself at the thumbnail!
2 rules to follow : 1 - don't talk, 2 - show us the footage.
Number 10 is basically a Culvoord Starburst. Where my TNG peeps at?
I do not know why pilots do these air shows. I have heard of more pilot deaths in Airshows than any other form of aviation in my life and nobody talks about it.
I pray to God that things like this don't happen
Pitiful. Segments are jumbled with non-essential clips.
Clickbait. The only thing this video makes me afraid of is watching this video again.
