    Just saw your video while ago and because mostly you didn't get answers to your questions I would like to explain:
    0:42 those are pieces of a kind of liana called "Sa Khan", known for some foreigners as "spicy wood" (due to its tart taste), the locals especially the Luang Phabangese use them in their signature dish called "Or Lam" (the most delicious stew in Laos, browse the net for it)
    0:55 Mai Phai is bamboo, and bamboo shoot is No Mai (they don't sell any bamboo in the wet market though, "no" means "sprout")
    1:12 the woman said "Bou Sa Pha Ciao" means the flowers are for the altars (literally "praying to Buddha")
    1:24 there are a kind of gourds (no way to know their English name)
    1:30 Momordica Charantia known as "Bitter Melon/Gourd" due to its bitter taste (with minced pork+mushrooms filling and then steam cooked - delicious)
    1:46 Chrysophyllum cainito known as "Milky Fruit" (browse the net for it)
    1:56 "Lo Sipsong Phan" - one kilo for 12 th kip, simple (she made a short break between Sip and Song that why you were confused, sounded Losip Songphan)
    3:27 You were her first klient that's why she touched her merchandises whith your banknote saying "Manh, Manh, ..." which means "successful (sales)"
    4:25 the Lao cuisine bases on the fresh herbs, unlike in the more West with dried form of the herbs and spices.
    4:30 Trichosanthes cucumerina known as "Snake Gourd" (steamed cooked eaten as a side dish)
    4:45 Khai Mot / Red Ant eggs, cooked with Sweet Leaf Gooseberry (the leaves right next to the ant eggs) or stir fried with chicken eggs - delicious (two of the favourite dishes for Laotians), "lo Saen" means 1 kilo for 100 th kip / "Khid Sip Phan" means 1/10 kg for 10 th kip.
    6:05 "Dok Khae" - with minced meat filling and then steam cooked, delicious
    7:22 the eel is "Eaen" in Lao
    8:18 the fish was supposed to cost 35 th kip (Samsip Ha) but she said she wanted only 33 (Au Samsip Sam Pai)
    10:12 Pygoplatys auropunctatus Blöte - Horn Stink Bug known as "Maeng Khaeng" (catalogued by a Dutch guy in 1945, living on the trees), the locals grill them+chili+garlic and smash in the mortar making a dip for the sticky rice (I don't know how they can eat it, when endangered the bugs emit a chemical substance which will stick to your skin and make yellow-green unwashable for days, and the smell, see their name, I can't describe how awful it is, yet it is the most expensive bug in the wet markets)
    10:17 It was definitely a young jackfruit (used for soup and stew)
    12:35 you just saw a cow nostril (without the proper cow, its owner)
    12:46 the pink eggs and next to them the white ones they are duck "Salted Eggs" (browse the net for them)
    I hop it helps.

    • @Craig_Black
      @Craig_Black  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that makes sense. So there’s so many in Luang Prabang for how small it is.
      There’s;
      - Naviengkham market which is the one in the video. It’s best to go at between 3/4 as that’s when all the locals bring their produce.
      - “Morning Market” which is a beautiful market with a mix of everything local that’s very Lao and then some stalls catered to more falang stuff like expensive teas and things like that. Best time for that one is 6:30/7 am
      - Phosi market which is by far the biggest and is mostly indoors. It’s almost like a supermarket as it has all sorts for daily life. Best time to go here is 11 am weekday if you want it quiet or 11 am on a weekend if you want to see it busy with local life.
      - Then there’s the night market which is also open during the days on weekends.
      *There are many more markets but these are my favourite because they are beautiful in their own ways. Also I listed them in order from my most favourite.

    How many subs do you need for monetization?

    • @Craig_Black
      @Craig_Black  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I need 1000 but I’m debating if I should wait for a bigger audience before I start putting ads on my content.
      When I hit 1000 subs I get the community tab which makes it a lot easier to grow.. apparently.

    You need to write down the Lao words using phonetics when learning Thai or Lao basically the same language. Having a British accent makes it more difficult for the Lao to understand you. The word for market in Lao is Da Lot. Da Lot Cher Arai? Market name is what? At least you are making an effort to learn unlike the thousands of expats who live for years in Southeast Asia and make zero effort and later wonder why they are so miserable living there.
