  • I wasn't sure whether or not to upload this but, after the positive response to yesterday's video I thought I would include this whole clip. Past me was right to say I would be second-guessing it completely when editing! I really do want to speak openly about mental health though because we need to end the stigma, and I know that I can do just a little bit to help with that by talking about it on my channel when relevant.

Worst thing to do when you feel bad is telling yourself “Everything is fine yet I feel bad. What’s wrong with me? People have much worse struggles yet I’m here being sad for stupid reasons. I’m weak.” Denying the saddnes or stress makes it worst(for most people).

@@anywitchway3866 I mean, of course it doesn't help me telling myself "I'm weak" or "I'm here being sad for stupid reasons". What, sometimes, helps me is the fact of recognizing how privileged I am in a lot of aspects, like, some people do have waaay more struggles than I do, and that doesn't mean my reasons are less valid, but it helps me going on sometimes. This is a very sensitive topic and I don't want to get misunderstood, because there're probably gonna be people who that doesn't work for them. Don't deny your sadness, never!

That's because many youtubers pretend to be perfect. They want to seem like they are. They want their viewers to see them as and role model or perfection. After years and years pf watching, you start to believe they have their life figured out. There is this youtuber that has been making videos for 10 years now, and she just recently said "omg my haor os a bit messy, I dont believe Ive ever shown this".

And also I recommend having a mental health mini routine when you're feeling anxious, instead of immediately brushing it off and going back to what you were doing. (I did that in university and it over time it was horrible. Have a deck of cards, maybe a little drawing, a smell, meditation, something to play with, etc, to focus on.) My therapist once said that if it is something you can immediately solve, well then do it. if not, don't worry about it because it is not productive and detrimental to your health. Just have to let go and live in the way you know how and things will work themselves out. :)

Thank you so much Ruby to talk about this and show people that even those whose lifes look perfect on first glance have bad days and struggle sometimes (like we all do). I actually had the problem that a girl in school bullied me when I was 16/17 because she envied me for having a pretty good life (good grades without studying hard, few good friends, functioning loving family, getting along with siblings well). In reality I found out by myself that my dad was suffering from depression and nearly cried every night because I feared that he might be suicidal (which he luckily wasn’t but I was to feared to actually speak with somebody about it)

I am feeling the exact same way about coronavirus!! I had to fly home during the peak in April from Australia and was so scared I would pass it. However I’ve found by going out (risk free activities like walks, seeing people from afar, going into a few shops)ive slowly built up my confidence again. The truth is the virus is very real and dangerous however the media is a big factor in scaring us and causing anxiety. I would suggest you have breaks from the news and know that soon this will all be over and we will appreciate normality so much more. Really hope your okay ruby, you’ve done so well to even go back to university!!

yes, the media really bother me, imagine they would report on a daily basis what happened to people because of car accidents, and how many people died because of cars, and even show videos of those people.. of course it would get a lot more terrifying to get in a car.. there are so many scary things in life, and of course being cautious helps, but horrifying and guilt-tripping people who easily get anxious like that all of the time is really crude and calculated, and truly will end up making more people sick because of anxiety and lack of activity and vitamine D deficiency (which is something most ppl who die of covid 19 have)

You are completely not alone in how you feel, I just started my 4th year at University and have also struggled a lot moving back during the pandemic. I have the same anxious hypothetical thoughts like 'what if I get covid and bring it back to my family' and especially at work as I work part time in a care home so I think 'what if I bring covid into work'. These thoughts really weigh on my shoulders, and the lack of control over what other people i.e. housemates are doing, also adds to the equation. What has helped me over the last day or so, however, is when I spoke to my CBT therapist I guess you can say about it, and she made me realise that even though to me these are very real worries that I perceive as rational, they are in-fact hypothetical situations that thinking about does not do anything good or help anything. You can take the necessary precautions, but its not feasible to micro manage your life to avoid a situation that might not happen in the first place. Obviously these things are much easier said than done to rationalise, especially when anxiety brain has a mind of its own haha. I hope you just know that you are not alone in feeling this and as you said, its okay not to be okay sometimes!

Ruby, you are so genuinely nice person, so sensitive and so precious. I struggle with anxiety too and I feel very bad this year. But this year I also found your channel, so it has positive things too. I wish I could meet you and hug you and tell you in person how great is to watch your videos and how it helps me with anxiety and gives me hope. I am sending so many hugs and positivity and love and good wishes to you x

I’m back at uni and this was so incredibly reassuring (in the sense that I feel less alone of course!). I’m worried about it too and I’m feeling a bit homesick after coming back. Thank you so much for being so honest and raw. God bless you- sending you lots of positive energy xxx

Thank you so much for making this video Ruby! My mental health hasn't been terribly great as of recent. I've honestly been having a bit of a rough day. However, seeing this video really made me feel better, as well as made me acknowledge that its okay to feel this way. I hope you feel better soon. I hope the semester is going well for you 💗

It is okay to not be okay. I think everyone has anxieties but it does help to face it. Sending hugs. I had ocd and ptsd for years in my early 20's so I know what the feeling of overwhelming anxiety and panic attacks can be like- stay strong.

I have been having a tough time lately and I can relate to some extent how you feel. All I can say is that you are so brave to be open about it and talk about it unlike me. I love you loads. I hope you know that we all love you and want the best for you. This tough time too shall pass. Keep working hard the way you do Ruby. You inspire so many lives.
And whoever is reading this, I wish you loads of happiness and good health. Times are tough but we are strong enough to fight it.
And yes, It's okay not to be okay! 💖💖💖

you are right everyone has bad days. I think whenever you don't feel like talking about your emotions to someone, just grab a pen and a paper n start writing down everything that is going on in your mind. It really helps in channeling emotions. Lots of love from india♥️ ♥️
