    Funny I have been feeding Tetra Goldfish pellets for 5 yrs since a 3/4 in baby. It's now huge and beautiful. NO need for fancy priced stuff.

    I learned something from that 🙂
    My fancy goldfish get a couple of small pinches of bug bites, followed by Tetra GoldJapan sticks.

    Chris - I raised a query with Vitalis when the protein level on the sinking pellets was reduced significantly from 41.9% to 36.1% in November last year, via their website enquiry tool as I buy the 1.8kg containers at about 6+ per year. Within 5 minutes the sales director had rung me to chat about it and explain this change. Apparently they are meeting an EU regulation if you want to sell there. As a result of this you must report the wet weight percentages not post processing. Their food has higher moisture levels because they do not use heat or cooker extrusion which other well known companies do. Given this is a recent change many products in the supply chains are still labelled per the old rules and indeed some companies may not export into the EU. Worth considering in the wider context of your reviews etc.

    Hi Chris, just bought a pack of NLS goldfish formula and was surprised that most of the good ingredients are not listed on the label, no krill or giant Squid or menhaden fish for example, main ingredient is Whole fish.
    Do the do different formulas for Europe and US? 5:03

    • @AquaticElements
      @AquaticElements  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's interesting, if I'm honest I'm not sure. They potentially could have changed the formula, does it have those ingredients listed online still?

    • @waleedjanabi939
      @waleedjanabi939 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don’t seem to list full ingredients online on their UK websites but they mention Antarctic Krill in the general description of their products.
      It would be interesting to fund out if they have changed their formula everywhere but US retailers still list the usual ingredients.

    Hi Chris, I was just researching quality fancy goldfish food. I had a look at the Hikari Discus Bio-Gold and they have a high protein content, with good quality ingredients. What are your thoughts on this food? I've already bought myself Repashy super gold and soilent green as a daily feed. But thought pellets would be good to add to their daily food routine. Look forward to your thoughts 👍

      I will have a look into this food and maybe do a video on it. I find high protein foods are good with young fish to bring them on, however adult fish (fish over 2-3 years) are best on a slightly lower protein food and more of a maintenance diet as the excess protein will become wasted due to reduced growth and energy expenditure.

      NLS is a very good quality food and if money wasn't an object this would be one I'd seriously consider. Right now I am trying kenta, herons fancy goldfish and also fast and grow. My fish are hibernating for winter now but these will be the foods I will use up next year

      @@AquaticElements just a quick question my goldfish are on tretra flakes at the minute as unfortunately I had very little knowledge is this bad for them ? Thanks!

    • @AquaticElements
      @AquaticElements  ปีที่แล้ว

      Flakes are okay but not the best. If you are feeding flakes make sure to release them under the water so the fish arnt taking in too much air at the surface. Think of flakes like lots of little crisps and pellets are like burgers. The crisps are messy and go everywhere, polluting the water and not holding too much nutritional value but the burger is easier to eat and holds more nutrients. Hope that helps a bit 😀
