As i said there is no change in input and output power of a transformer.Inorder to maintain that when load side current increases in load side of a step down transformer for example ,small amount of primary current also increases to keep the power constant as we know voltage is constant there.
Transformer is considered as a constant flux device.. while connecting load, the secondary current flows and generate a flux opposite to the primary flux in the core..hence the net flux in core reduces...in order to make the flux in the core constant more flux is produced in the primary winding by drawing more current from the source...hence the primary current drawn is proportional to the load connected..
