That box template for the bolt pattern is a great idea. Thanks. One inexpensive upgrade you might like is adding stainless braided brake lines. It makes a huge difference in confidence when you need braking control and power.
Ah, ha! Thank you for this video, a week ago I discovered a small amount of oil residue on the front-left quadrant of the head on my 2021 DR650 with 1000KM on it (same as yours). I suspected oil was seeping through/around the selant between the rocker cover and the cylinder head. Thanks for this video, it's confirmed to me that this is in fact what is occurring and it looks like it's a common problem on DR's. The next step, I think, will be to pop the rocker cover off, as you have done and reapply sealant and re-torque the head bolts.
Fantastic! I've been having the same head bolt leak (minimal) since buying my 2021 pig new from the dealer last March. It hasn't caused any performance issues at all (15,000km), but I'm going to save this vid to add to my end of season maintenance. So this stopped your leak?
So did you just remove the cam cover and then re-install to fix the issue? Did it work? I've heard of some guys having to seal the whole thing with silicone to stop the leak.
head bolt leak? WTF? It the cam/rocker cover leaking. You should NEVER remove a single head bolt like you did. You have to remove all of them and then re-torque in sequence. And, I'd personally never remove the head bolts w/o changing the head gasket.

LOOKS LIKE I HAVE A LEAK IN THE SAME SPOT TY
Did you have to replace the black plug on the right side too? And did you have to put silicone on it before putting the plug back on?
Yes

Yes and yes it worked!
of course you need a silicone between the cover and the head
