    Remember your play for Martz with the horribly undermanned 49er squad back in the day. Always though you were a great thrower of the football. These videos really are good for someone who is seeking to improve their knowledge. Great stuff!! Great to know you survived and appear to be doing well!

    Awesome play breakdown expert. A super winner in Zach Wilson. Don't let size fool anyone. He will shine and the team that drafts him will be SUPER thankful that they were willing to make the "leap of faith" and bring him into their football family.

    CCU was running a cover 3/1 look but jumping Wilson's Y-guy with the deep safety leaving the deep middle open. I couldn't see it live, because the camera man wouldn't film the secondary. The Y-cross "wasn't doing" all night vs. CCU. I caught it randomly watching film that week. We made the adjustment. You can see some plays of SDSU's deep safety jumping the Y-guy, but the Y-guy goes deep. One of Rex's TDs was that read/adjustment iirc.

      For me, it’s the way he throws with anticipation and his ball placement. JT really made those traits jump out at me, amongst other things. Beating the DB’s might be more challenging than college, but he’d also be throwing to guys like Davis, Mims, and hopefully Crowder or someone of equal talent. If he’s as much of a scheme fit as I’ve heard some claim, I can see him elevating those guys, especially Davis, who hasn’t seen good ball placement in his entire career imo

      sigh as a jets fan it has really pained me to see how much the organization has stunted the growth of darnold due to the complete lack of support he’s been given in terms of coaching and roster construction. i love wilson and am excited for what he will (i think) bring to the jets under the new regime, but im hoping that darnold will go somewhere with weapons and a coach that will help him realize the obvious talent he has

    • @briannewsome6208
      @briannewsome6208 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheSECRETeam completely agree. the 5th year option decision this summer is the main reason why i think sam’s time here is over. can’t blame JD and saleh for not wanting to take such a big risk with keeping sam and having it backfire. i really hope he doesn’t end up in new england (not that i think we would ever trade a potential franchise QB to them all teams). i would love to see him go to WFT or chicago and sit behind dalton or fitz for a bit to work on his decision making and confidence. a new system and scheme will do him wonders, i really do believe that. he’s only 23!

    • @TheSECRETeam
      @TheSECRETeam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@briannewsome6208 The fact that he's 23 and already has a better understanding than 22-year-olds coming in from scratch is what's really sad about contract rules like 5th year options. At the end of the day all that knowledge he's gained in his 3 years automatically should place him far ahead of the pack (and he's smart to begin with) but unfortunately there is a 5th-year option, a collective bargaining agreement, etc. and all these things stack against our chances to see people like Sam (eventually) blossom.
      If Sam could be treated, contractually, as an upcoming 2nd-year (or even a 3rd) QB, it would be a nice talking point when comparing pros/cons of keeping Sam or drafting ZW

    • @goclbert

      I get you man but the thing with Wilson is that he's just a much more polished prospect than Sam. He's also more physically gifted. I liked Sam a lot but I have my floor and ceiling higher for Wilson than I did for Sam. My only concern is injury.

      @@zachariahsmith9130 I'd say it's pretty close. I think Fields is better though. He's not a bad passer in my opinion, and his legs are just a plus. I don't see where the criticism comes from.

    • @yeahr1ghty
      @yeahr1ghty 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nicholas104 its mostly due to the offense Ohio runs, and their lackluster coaching. Most of the things people knock Fields for like holding the ball, struggling vs blitz, and not checking it down, none will be an issue once he gets on an NFL team and learns the playbook.
      His mechanics could be better (particularly his throwing motion), he will take sometime to learn a real offense, and most importantly he needs to take care of himself when he scrambles/runs because he was causing himself to get banged up in college by inviting contact.
      Zach Wilson will probably be more productive his rookie season (he is a more aggressive thrower and has more experience with a playbook closer to what the NFL does), but I think Fields has the mental make-up and physical talent to be the better QB long term.

    • @flyingcircus8294
      @flyingcircus8294 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wilson is better player. More consistent imo. Mechanics are consistent throws are consistent hes used to throwing in tight coverage which will be like that in the nfl he can throw with bodies around him. Fields at times has a pitcher motion where his legs get close and then he takes a long step to throw. Fields is extremely talented but he's not as consistent as a thrower as I'd like him to be. And it steps from his Mechanics. He sometimes uses too much shoulder and the arm flops around its not a tight motion. Has a bad tendency of not hitting drags and flats on the money. But fields to me is Cam Newton but 6'3 I've said this since I've seen him in HS. He reminds me of cam Newton but smaller. But to me Wilson is the best in the class he has the highest potential. I dont know how he is on the board and all that extra stuff but as a talent and from his film he looks the best. Most of the top guys this class are good
      Jones Lawrence mond fields and Wilson are as good as they come as a class. But yeah I think fields are some technical things to clean up imo. But he has all the physical tools.

  • @SchulzEricT
    @SchulzEricT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In retrospect... I've seen you gush about his anticipation but occasionally talk about how he's pre-decided who he is gonna throw to. With the data we have, what he's done on the Jets thus far, it seems like his "anticipation" was probably driven a lot by him just deciding who he was gonna throw to prior to the snap, right?
    (I've also heard some criticism that he doesn't seem to know the playbook, with some evidence given... and based on my obviously very limited ability to understand/evaluate that, it seems like valid criticism, in a way that logically overlaps with pre-deciding throws.)
