Thanks for the video, Mike! For the first time since getting the game last year, I'm now seeing how everything in FoF connects together, and it's amazing how clean and elegant the design is. I just want to point out a mistake for future viewers, in case they're following along with the actual game (as I am): at 41:07 the table used is actually from the next mission (the Cerisy Offensive), not the Trevieres Offensive we're playing. The German unit placed should be a sniper, not an LMG nest. Thanks again for giving me (and others) the confidence to tackle this little beast of a game. Cheers!
Can't believe I missed this somehow... I recently got the newer edition of FoF and wondered if you had a vid on it so I could understand WTH WAS GOING ON! akum...haha Sure enough you do and it's the best man. Ty for the playthrough and your time and efforts in making these. Very appreciated!
Love the vids Counter Attack. I've set up and run through this scenario twice with the new 2nd Edition. Made it to the 3rd turn the first time, made some errors; reset and made it to the 7th turn...my GIs got pounded. I am now confidently running through the scenario for the third time using better tactics and making fewer mistakes. I second doing a Nam or Korea reboot.
29:50 - I always thought it was odd that the platoon commander couldn't give a move forward and find cover command - using 2 commands...I love this game but I wished they had given that as an order - so I house ruled it. For 2 commands, the platoon commander can give a move and seek cover order Great set of videos by the way - these really helped me get into the game and I'm just about to get it back to the table so I was re-watching
@Billy Riley: Same here (rewatching for getting the game back on the table). I love you house rule and will try it myself. That's the good thing about board gaming: you don't like a specific rule? Change it, it's your game, you can do with it whatever you want, and it is there for you to have fun while playing.
I don't think I could have started playing this game without this video! Two questions/observations... 33:30, if the unit finds cover, why would you leave an "exposed" marker on it? At 34:10, why randomly choose which "potential contact" marker you will check first since you end up checking all three anyway? Finally, a general note to any other new person... on the Normandy Campaign OB, the term "Mission" at the top of the chart should read "Mission Ammunition".
Great video. I've just started another playthrough of the Normandy Campaign as well, it's super fun. A couple of things I picked up on: a] The Arty Spotter doesn't exert a PDF, and the VOF marker is placed on it's incoming side. That would have put you at Contact for your subsequent checks (at least I play that non Basic VOF markers count for level of engagement). b] Not sure what contact table you used for the 2nd engagement (I think it was Mission 2) but you should have placed a Sniper. I know that Random 6 all too well... Looking forward to Turn 2!
Around 44:55 small thing, but i could not find were it says that u can remove the exposed marker from pinned units. Rules states `` A unit remains Exposed until the marker is removed in the Clean Up Phase``

Getting back into this game. I love this walkthrough. I noticed you haven’t uploaded in a year. Hope to see some more soon. Happy holidays

Nice! Keep it up!
Just want to thank you for this video.
Superb demonstration of the game. Ive always been enthused for FoF as much as intimidated.
Just got mine this afternoon - mega excitement ! This playthrough should prove to be very useful.
Thank you Mike for this! Really an interesting game and you present it so well as always!

Excellent video.. watching this helps me when read the rulebook
Excellent video. Hope you will consider doing the Korea and Vietnam scenarios as I am more interested in those. The Lonesome Gamer did WWII as well.

Sam Griffith Thanks fore all tips / corrections, and kind words.
This is such a great learning resource, thanks so much for doing this it really helped get my head around the core concepts and flow of the game!
playing the reprint - careful the missions have a different order of battle now.
I would love to watch full playthrough of non-Normandy scenario. As far I concern, there is no single Vietnam or Korea playthrough on YT.
Kirq I've had quite a few requests for that. They are in the queue, but that queue keeps growing :-)
Excellent. I have fof vol2, this video is a great help, as I follow.
This looks epic, I tried it in Vassal, but it is a lot of rules to keep in mind. I wish there was a pc game to play this!
Hi! Just discovering FoF, wonderful game, wonderful video. I think you shouldn't have placed the pdf's when firing in the same card and the FO though

For any incoming fire u use the smaller number for defense
Great video!
It starts out like there is a Setup video but I couldn't find one. :-\
Gregg Cleland the first 10 minutes or so are literally how to set up ☺
Why did you add the bazooka teams and mortars when it clearly states that those should be added on mission 3 and 4 ?
I don't remember that in the rules. Perhaps it's a 2nd edition change?
The 3 and 4 aren't the mission they start in but how many you have available.
