    Hi Sophie - the gift you were making in this video was for me from my brother and sisters on my 60th birthday. It was reminder of the beautiful stained glass window in my old flat, which was in part of an old bank building in Holyhead, North Wales. It’s great to see how it was made - thank you so much for all your hard work and attention to detail in making it, it’s perfect! A beautiful and original gift 😊

      Great to hear from you. It was a pleasure to make. I really liked it actually. Ger showed me photos of the windows - they were truly stunning. And I have to say, I really enjoyed your rendition of Video Killed the Radio Star - had me grinning from ear to ear! Great start to my day!

    This has inspired me to start again. I hope my lead is still workable! Framing is definitely something I need to know more about, I look forward to that video 🙏

    Your explanation is excellent. What is the metal of these parts? It seems that they are easily cut and manipulated.

    I always learn some new technique from watching your videos :) This time, using a piece of scrap lead so the nails don't chip the edge of the glass. One question: do you use lead with different heart heights? Otherwise it might be hard to get the overlap with your edging pieces

  • @ArkOfMystery
    @ArkOfMystery ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome! Could you also hang the piece with a chain? I understand the came could sag. But would 12mm border came hold, if the piece is small enough?

    • @SophiesStainedGlass
      @SophiesStainedGlass  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you do try hanging your piece by the lead, make sure your loops are positioned at a joint - mitigates the sag a bit.

    This is a beautiful piece! Question for you, what is the white powder that you put on after the putty?

    • @SophiesStainedGlass

    Hi! Love love love watching you work and your completed pieces!
    Question…do you use H channel lead on the border when you’re going to frame the piece and U channel lead when not placing in a frame?
    Thank you!!

    • @SophiesStainedGlass
      @SophiesStainedGlass  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, H for both. I mostly make architectural panels where H lead is always used on the outside.

    Thank you for the video Sophie can I ask do you cut to the inside of the black patterns? Also how do formulate the design - what thickness etc do the lines need to be and is there any software which can help with this?

    G'day Sophie, just wanted to give your videos a thumbs up and hit that subscribe button from down under in Australia. If it's not too much trouble, could you chuck in a shoutout about the materials you snagged for this project and where you picked 'em up? Cheers!

      Thanks for your message and for your support. I get my glass and paint from a shop in Reading and the frames I get from an online framers. Not sure how much this helps you in Aus! And of course, Amazon is always worth checking out as they do rule the world and everything in it!

    Why does everyone fast forward through the cleaning of the piece. I would like more detail about how that is done. I think proper cleaning is essential.
