I have a few points to add: 1) Some cultures (Norse, Mongol, some Turkic cultures) have traditions that make it easier to hybridize/gain cultural acceptance (Malleable Invaders, Culture Blending, Xenophilic). Picking a culture with one of these traditions will help with creating hybrid cultures and making other cultures like yours more. 2) You can alter the game rules to allow for faster culture merging/diverging, while still having achievements unlocked. This is definitely OP, but if you want to create lots of new cultures a lot faster, you can do so. 3) Forming a new culture prevents you from taking the “Adopt local culture” decision later. 4) Be careful when creating a divergent or hybrid culture as a vassal. If your liege is of one of the parent cultures they will normally choose to convert to the new culture, spread it to a bunch of low-development counties, and choose useless technologies as their cultural fascinations. You might want to consider temporarily gaining independence from your liege, forming the new culture, and then swearing fealty to your liege again.
Amazing tips! Thank you for your insight! I didn't realize they modified the game rules to accommodate so much! It's very annoying to me when trying to do one county cultures and you get vassals / lieges that ruin your rocket ship of innovation

haha they have a few scripted events where historic rulers arise inside your realm like the Seljuks if you're in control of the persian empire area so it would be cool to have more peasant uprisings similar to this that are different from just peasant factions. And maybe more options to interact with populace
I have a video request. I was talking to "Do it for Bruce" and we were noticing Grand Weddings are REDICULOUS. Can you make an event guide about how to max out events like hunting, feasts, tournaments, and such? I've never done a tournament or a tour and I feel like I'm sleeping on some great opportunities. - Grand Wedding Hacks: 1) Huge Health Boost 2) Relationship Boost 3) RENOWN - If you are friends with your liege (and you invite them to the wedding) there's this event where you can get 750 renown from them!
That sounds really cool! I'll add it to the list. I've been using grand weddings to jump start my viking's renown so I can get the first pillage perk and get more prestige. I didn't know you can get 750 renown wow. I'll have to look at the code for that (which I love to do). I've been able to elevate Mann in 12 years. I wonder if it'll be faster after this update's crazyy advantage change, might be faster being able to fight bigger armies earlier.

yo i dunno if this is in your wheelhouse but after messing with some tradition stacking i'm curious what the fastest you could get 100 development on an entire empire is. i'm assuming best choice to start would be deccan empire but i'm curious what the actual procedure would be, between culture and building and whatnot
Covering a whole empire in 100 dev is an interesting challenge. I wonder if it would be better to rush in the best place or rush in the middle to maximize spread - or maybe to rush both sides (say in Deccan first somewhere on the mainland then on Sri Lanka). I'd probably say Deccan is still the best candidate because of the terrain but maybe worth trying something in Europe for instance with less mountains

Do you have any plans for a guide to playing tall? I find wide empires boring after the first few and just having a small area(e.g. Ireland) be richer and stronger than all of france much more interesting
I do plan to have a tall playthrough and if it's not easy to make it into a guide I'll do separate videos for a playthrough / a guide. I also love tall builds myself, it makes me feel like a true steward of a realm.
I thought you could change language when you diverge? I want to diverge so I become cultural head but I want to keep everything I have until I can hybridize with breton with picks Swords for hire (Breton) Costal warriors (Norse) Dexterous fishermen (Breton) Performative honor (Norse) Chanson de geste (Breton) Only the strong (reform) Warriors by merit (reform) Stand and fight (reform) But tingmeet and raise runestone are too valuable in the meantime to toss for divergence cus they can help me better set up succession and earn control and prestige as i raid and conquer counties. Malleable invaders is a necessity for the hybridization so I can't toss that. Was hoping to diverge by changing the language Pillar to brythonic which I learned from a scheme on king solomon. Not seeing an option though. Then there was an event where I auto diverged as manx and got industrious and a few others but lost Malleable invaders, ended up deleting that game and started from scratch. How do I prevent auto diverge and how to I diverge where I only chase the cultures language. It would help with my hybridization with Bretton. Plan is to stay norse long enough to elevate kingdom of mann an the isles and then hybridize to brythonic culture to get pendragon brittania empire.
To quote the wiki: "the target language as a pillar occupies at least 10% of the realm's counties, borders the character's culture, and has at least 25% acceptance of it (each condition can be met by a different culture that has the target language as a pillar)" So while you can use language as the reason to diverge, there are enough requirements where you might deem it not worthwhile / as efficient to diverge using language versus something else. My personal favorite is to have a custom Equal faith and that lets you use martial custom change (only like 10 or 11 cultures have Equal martial custom) You might have experienced the auto diverge from norse into norwegian/swedish/danish/etc. The force divergence happens in the year 1000 to any norse character who owns lands directly or through a vassal in scandanavia. To prevent the split you can either not control any scandanvian lands whatsoever or if you control at least 80% of norse culture counties the split will not occur You can diverge early and still take the elevate kingdom of mann & the isles decision as long as your heritage is north germanic if that makes your life a little simpler
Unfortunately, most times only with custom characters. Someone in the world needs to have or spawn with a dead culture and then you recruit (abduct) them to your court and have them educate your heir and convert your heir's culture to the dead culture. You need to do that while your heir is young otherwise they may not change cultures. If they do change culture, once your heir takes over they can then promote the dead culture as usual. Personally, I've never seen dead cultures like Roman culture 'appearing' in my playthroughs so personally I think the only way to play these dead cultures is to start with them.
@@breadgodgaming yes I thought so, I’d love a comparison of Macedonian and Greek culture, obviously the Greek one has some left over Roman traditions but still. I’m at some point going to do a campaign where I try to restore Europes culture to before the western Roman collapse which will be super hard
@@billychops1280 That's awesome and super difficult! There is a game rule to increase culture and/or faith conversion speed up to 4x faster for each (although not achievement compatible) if that helps!
Hi bread god would you know a mod that makes it easier to increase development in all counties i find it to be an extremely tedious aspect of the game especially when innovations are limited behind it, it would be awesome to actually completely develop historical cultural lands without having to completely focus all your resources on increasing dev and also would make the ai able to catch up on it too
I'm not too familiar with mods but I see there is a 'Powerful Development' mod where he's boosted development task by 300% compared to 50% so it should be easier for everyone to develop. It hasn't been updated recently so I'm not 100% sure if it will work or not, but there has been some comments and it isn't a complicated mod so I think it should work? You can combine this with turning down the plague frequency game rule so there is less development loss. In fact you can turn off plagues and the game will still be achievement compatible. Another thing you can do too is to change domain limit game rule to +3 (gives +3 minimum domain to player and AI characters), meaning you can hold more things and most rulers should be more rich and thus have an easier time buying more buildings to develop their lands. If you don't mind it, doing a one-county culture is very strong in speeding up research and is also easier to research for
Good guide but your micophone setup made me want to turn it off immediately. Way too much bass and it feels like your mouth is inside my ear which is very uncomfortable to listen to, it feels like ASMR. Maybe consider puting a bit more distance between your mouth and the mic. This is also causing "popping" sounds when air from your mouth constantly hits the mic. Thats just me though, I'm very sensitive to people's voices and mic setups on youtube. But objectively speaking this isn't good voice over audio, even though other people may find it bearable. Just my 2 cents. Cheers (th-cam.com/video/bAaOn0cdjSw/w-d-xo.html)
