Thank you for your support and kind words! That is a great tip, I've noticed that sometimes petitioning your liege for other claims works more often than not, which is kind of strong!
ah sorry I don't think I was very clear and didn't give any examples. So when you're declaring war the war target is usually whatever the casus belli is. For example a conquest war would be targeting a specific county, duchy, or kingdom and that would be the war target which is highlighted as the striped blue color. A claim war is for whatever titles are being claimed. Versus wars without specific targets like independence or tyranny wars have the capital as the primary war target
I like that you pointed out how one of the biggest advantages of mercenaries is that they can be summoned instantly at a rally point. The same applies for holy orders of course. This is a very powerful ability and has much better uses in fact than just reinforcing a losing battle, which frankly is not always advisable as depending on the size and terrain of the baronies (large desert or mountain provinces in Africa, Siberia or Tibet) the battle may be over before the reinforcement mercenaries even get there. A much more powerful use is to wait until the enemy army is locked in moving into a tile with defensive bonuses and summoning an army there to ambush them. This can wipe the entire enemy army, and in particular you should keep an eye out for which army the enemy war leader is in and when they are locked into moving into one of your provinces call up an instant army to ambush and hopefully capture them, ending the war. I'd also like to point out a way to use rally points in combination with men at arms regiments when you are a large empire that needs to fight on multiple distant fronts. Normally this is a real nightmare when you have an empire that stretches halfway across the map because there is no way to raise part of your men at arms regiments to one location and part to another. They always get raised all at once in one location no matter how many rally points you use. To circumvent this the key is to keep your men at arms *unstationed,* then when the war begins call up only men at arms in your capital (this should only take one day). The next day pause the game and select x number of men at arms regiments that you want to be fighting let's say on the eastern front, disband *only* them but not the rest of the men at arms, move your rally point to where you want to raise that portion of your men at arms and raise men at arms there. Then go back to your capital and disband the rest of the men at arms standing there, move the rally point to the another side (e.g. west) of your empire and raise men at arms again. Now you should have part of your maa raising thousands of kilometers away from the other, and because your men at arms were unstationed, the game will treat them as having a disband distance of zero to your capital and thus incur no raising time penalty. The rest of the peasant levies, if needed, can then just be split via multiple rally points. This lets you fight for instance in India and Britain at the same time and have siege weapons in both places. And if you don't mind doing a little bit of micro every time you employ this trick you can also re-station your men at arms in between the partial disbanding and partial re-raising, that way you don't have to miss out on the bonuses from buildings. Finally another trick with speeding up late game wars, which are mainly slowed by army raising time is to hold multiple empires *and* their capitals, allowing you to switch capitals an unlimited number of times by switching primary empire titles which in turn lets you greatly reduce the raising time of your men at arms by having the capital close to whichever front you are fighting on in any given war (only thing to remember is you can't move the capital during wars).
Phew, I finally made it through this video. I’m new to CK 3, I’ve literally discovered it like a few weeks ago. And I’m super invested. I’ve got a digital notebook and am researching everything to get a better understanding of this game, while also playing, of course. THANK YOU for taking me by the hand and explaining it as if I know nothing, because I really did know nothing, haha. My first time playing as a pagan badass witch was me just constantly breaking truces after winning wars for Irish counties, haha. I wasn’t sure why it happened but I figured I’d just keep soldiering on, literally. It worked out and I conquered Ireland that way, but at a price of course. So it was funny to learn why exactly and what my get around would have been. I would love to know more about knights, unless there really is not that much more to know about them. And a question: I remembering white peace-ing a war by sieging different holdings and getting my war score to 30 % but I believe this was a war for my entire realm. While the queen of England was sieging, I was heavily outnumbered and decided to siege some of her holdings. Is that then possible? Or do I misremember something? Because if so, then a possible strategy is to hurry up and siege as many holdings from the enemy to up the war score, right?
Thank you for the kind words :) I know my videos are really long so really thank you! I have a knight optimizing video that I recorded but need to re-record due to T&T updates to talk about accolades etc, but I've been really busy IRL so it might be some time sorry. You discovered an optimal strategy on your own, I'm very impressed :) It's actually a highly used strategy to have a full army of only siege weapons and then while the enemy is sieging your realm you base race them and siege them down before they can react. You can even hire a stack of mercenaries or send a small army of levies to distract the enemy AI armies while your other armies siege away as well. It also helps that siege weapons are cheaper to maintain. I didn't include it here because you have to be decently familiar with those war mechanics, but definitely use it if you're comfortable :)

These would be need to be applied to the formular, but thats a simple manner really

I made a big excel sheet to calculate how many men my knight only army could fight against because of using the basic damage formula haha. But yours is more advanced thank you! Hi friend, excellent video. One question though, in 29:31 there is a battle where 1700 troop beat a 77000 troop stack. How was that even possible. I think your narrative at the point just doesn't capture the reasons behind everything that is happening and there is a lot of 'meat' in further discussing what is going on and how to create such 'unbeatable' armies. In real life you would never expect 1700 to beat an army of 77000 however given this is just a faulty game full of exploits and you might want to delve deeper in army content and factors that would allow the creation of powerfull small armies. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm surprised you noticed haha. It definitely is not realistic but that was me pushing the game to its limits by doing extreme min-maxing. I have the raw video awaiting editing but it's in the middle of my priority list. I really miss summer breaks... This was meant to be just a beginner's guide so I thought the min-maxing was out of the scope this time. I only briefly mentioned it, but to improve your army mid-game and beyond we want to stack buildings that boost our troops. What I did was hold onto 9 duchy capital counties (which is also abnormal) and built 9 military academies. I also had a genetics program to create the strongest viking family so I had 80+ knights with an average of 50 prowess and about 1100% knight effectiveness meaning my army was worth about 5 million damage or the equivalent of 500,000 levies. Which is why they demolished the 77k stack and not just a close victory. Hope this clarifies a few things and sorry for the delay in releases

Is there any way to increase army quality? Sometimes very small mercenary armies of ~400 footmen will have elite quality even when the commander skill is not great. Is it determined by counter efficiency?
best way to increase your army quality is by having more men at arm regiments, because levies are what make your army so low quality, why? because they are weak they only have 10 attack and defense and no pursuit and such, thus only having levies is not really worth it, another way to make your army quality better in my favourite way is accolades and knight effectiveness, knight effectiveness is basically how good your knights are at fighting you can increase it by having certain buildings but you can also increase knight effectiveness by going down the martial path and going down the gallant tree and going to the right side. hope this helped.
Troop quality is purely dependent on the number and quality of men-at-arms in your army stack. It doesn't increase or affect troop damage at all and yea as you noticed the commander does not affect army quality. So if you have 2000 peasants and 1000 armored footmen in your raisable armies, when you raise all these guys it might be 'medium quality'. If you raise only the 2000 peasants it will say 'low quality' versus if you raise only the 1000 armored footmen it could say 'high quality'. It may also say 'high quality' if you only raise 500 footmen. So it's purely to reflect, at a glance, the 'strength' of the army, but honestly it kind of is misleading. So to increase the quality, you basically just want as many men-at-arms as possible. I don't know the exact numbers but I would assume the stronger men-at-arms would contribute to a higher quality rating at a faster speed than weaker men-at-arms.
Are you sure there isn't more hidden counters or dynamics to men-at-arms by default. The fact that the only thing that matters in the end is damage is quite disappointing. At first glance the combat system seemed really complex and built on these counters, but as it turns out i only need siege and heavy infantry...
Yea it only really matters if the armies are approximately close, otherwise being outnumbered greatly and on a mountain does not mean there will be a legendary defensive victory. It was even worse before the patches where your men-at-arms were able to teleport / be instantly summoned.
Defending or executing? Defending if you can attack the enemy as soon as they land, there is a “recently disembarked” -30 penalty advantage if they just got off a ship for 30 days so that’s the best time to strike. Sometimes you can fight off an army that is 50% larger because -30 advantage means you get +60% damage on the enemy If attacking, then focus fire on the castle holdings since you can get prisoners they are worth more than the loot from only raiding. There is an economic filter at the bottom right and the tiles with the special buildings (especially mines) will reflect places with high amounts of loot. For military strength, since we are tribal, we create troops with prestige. So in between raids and wars we want to go on hunts and feasts to gain as much prestige as possible to raise a strong men-at-arms army. Sorry I still don’t have a raiding video up yet. It’ll still be some time until I can get to it!

The formular I set up for calculation of casualties per tick almost 3 yeasr ago is:
(1.02a * 0.03du * (w/U) / T * I = C
d = damage of the requested damage dealing unit
u = amount of 1 specific damage dealing unit type in battle
a = advantage modifiers
w = combat width
T = toughness of enemy unit you want to know the casualties of
U = total amount of units on damage dealing side
I = the percentage the army is made of this unit type (e.g. 500 levies of a 1k army being 50%)
C = Casualties
a > 0, since in case of it being negative for the attacker it wouldnt matter since advantage only increases the damage of the one who has positive advantage, but doesnt reduce the damage of the one with negative advantage
if w>U then replace w/U with 1, since in that case the damage dealing side isnt suffering from combat width
This does not keep countering in mind nor percentile boosts of commander traits or otherwise present traits. These would be need to be applied to the formular, but thats a simple manner really
