You know it's funny...I asked this question on CloudyNights not too long ago about whether it was possible to image the Moon landing sites. I was very adamantly told it wasn't possible from Earth because of all the atmospheric interference and whatnot. I'm glad to see someone proving those guys wrong! Very awesome image!

I often get asked if you can see the flag or the lander - which of course you cant. When you think that hadley rille is just over a kilometer wide and that that distance on the moon can be resolved by amateur equipment, then its no surprise that when conditions and seeing are good, we can view the general area of these landing sites. Thanks v much for watching Razell!! Cheers, Ray

Of course you can "image the the apollo landing sites"
It's not like they took the tiny patch of lunar surface they landed on with them.
But with amature gear - you won't be seeing anything they left behind.
And to defend what you were told on CN, TYPICALLY when a newbie asks that question they mean:
"Can I actually resolve anything they left behind?"
      Which is a hard "no"
No flags, no lander decent stage, no tracks by man or rover, no abandoned rover.
So yeah. With a good map of the moon, and good terrain recognition skills YOU CAN look at and image the landing sites
But you won't see the "hand of man" in any of them.
Not from earth in a telescope anyway.

Really enjoyed that. Never thought of daylight astronomy photographs.

Pretty cool. I set up my Mak 180 and just preparing for some Moon session. Finally no clouds here in Poland!
