Couple months ago I bought new amp and at the second day I discovered your channel and instantly regretted my purchase. I was blown away how good that tones sounded, especially VDOP tone wich I was looking for. So now I'm happy katana user too. Thank you for everything!
Thanks for putting these together. Just got my Bluetooth adapter for my Katana Gen 3. I think I'll try your tones first. You got some really good sounding tones.
You may be to young for this but there's 2 people one Pat travers tone on snorting whiskey drinking cocaine is hard to nail theres chorus and flanges mixed check it out a patch would be awesome. Thanks
Men, you are a HERO, your tones are only ones that i find actually good, they are not just good, they are incredible, im suprised specially with the pantera tone how good it sounds, pleeease do a DEATH tone, from sound of preserverence
Wow! Hey man great job! I was thinking about hetring this amp and I think you put me over the top for sure. 🎸🤘 So I have a request for some ZZ Top "Eliminator" album. Led Zeppelin anything. Thanks again!
Mason, have you ever tried having a reference track from an artist, a track of you playing, and putting the difference in the waveforms into an eq/ tone match program like iZotope? Would be interested in your answer, and the outcome. I heard...from someone much more knowledgeable than myself...it is QUITE accurate. Thanks bro. Great work as always
Ive considered trying it. Seeing exactly what the differences are with it. Maybe ill do a video specifically about that. But for my tone vids they need to be unedited after recording (besides volume and fixing any extra loud bits) because I want the video to sound as close as it can to the downloaded tone for someone else.
@@Synthedelicit's late. Maybe I'm not understanding, bro. But all I meant like you have, let's say, black Sabbaths ironman studio version, as a reference track. You...by ear...come up with a ballpark similar tone. You then compare the two sound waves, and input the differences into iZotope ( or whatever). Bam. Your matched tone. It would automatically make the corrections to the patch you were creating, wouldn't it? Then THAT could be the patch you make the video on? Perhaps I don't fully understand the process ( very likely). Your intial track would just be to compare it to the original, so you could get a close match, and the match would be your final work product/ patch, if I'm not completely mistaken. PS- To clarify, similar to what Scott/ Guitarnivore did in HIS EQ match vid, except you load the differences between your initial one and the reference track into the matching program, instead of the reference track itself
I’ve always preferred actually Mic’ing it. although if you play around with the custom mic settings on the katana you can get pretty close to how it sounds in the videos. the simple “rec” mic preset on the katana sounds pretty good but i think it sounds a bit too thumpy/lowpassed. in the room, Depending on if the room you’re in is similar to mine in size and reflection dampening; it should sound great. also my katana is elevated. it will sound different if it’s on the ground.
@@Synthedelic Thanks for the information. I just have the amp to play with and using headphones because I live in an apartment so don’t wanna bother my neighbors. Mostly playing Metallica stuff and want to get close to their sound
Any idea why the sound doesn’t sound as full coming out of my amp? It’s almost like quiet, not as powerful. I’m not sure how else to explain it. The tones I make (not download) have a fuller sound than the ones I try to download
Awesome job, as always! How do the live sound you hear in the room compare to the recorded sound when you play back the video? I’ve noticed that you have the Kat up high rather than down on the floor - do you find it easier to hear the tone at quieter levels?
If you have the katana pointing towards your face you can hear the tone pretty good. so i have it up where i can move my head all around and hear the speaker from different angles. thats kinda how i find where to put the mic.
I’ve started using studio monitor speakers connected to my pc, with Kat connected via the front Aux input - so I can hear both the album tone I’m trying to copy and Kat. I noticed a big difference in the tone from these speakers vs Kat - which I now realise is to be expected. Recently I’ve started using some Audio Technica headphones plugged into the monitor speakers. This is much better for comparing tones, but still some differences in how the tone sounds - especially with low-end and also gain. Observing your setup led me to try listening to the Kat speaker up close (currently it’s sat on the floor). I hear much more of the gain sound and overall clarity than I do when standing. I guess the main takeaway is that the “room” tone is quite watered down from what a close-mic’d setup captures. This explains why people download patches and then find it’s not quite the same as in a video demo (no matter who made it). Lots of praise and respect for what you do - and I’m learning lots as a result! I just spent the last few weeks working on some EVH tones - my latest tone chasing rabbit hole!!
@@Callisto1969 i’ve used the aux input only once. but i wasn’t exactly happy with how tracks sounded coming through the katana speaker. I keep my katana up on a stand. i think it makes it less woofy. when im shaping tones. i like to not compare the room sound but only compare my recorded sound. when i’m trying to find where to put the mic. i move my face in circles around the front of the amp. works pretty well. I want to do a jamie’s cryin type tone!

Your channel is awesome, the tones sound great. But when I download or just watch and copy, they sound nowhere near as good as yours do. I know the guitar and pickups have a lot to do with it. Its not like I'm using sub-par gear, weird.🤔
I’m so glad you exist and did boss katana tones, pls keep chasing tones that people ask for and I really appreciate sharing your tones.
I have a lot of respect for what you’re doing bro. Much love❤
I really enjoyed your tones in 2023 + thanks for all the patches

Great tones in your library. You’re one of the best. Can you do an Iron Maiden Number of the Beast or Wasted Years tone in the future? 🤘🎸
iron maiden will appear 🤘

if i did something like that it would be its own video 👍👍
You should do Kirk’s lead tone
You should do some more Pantera albums🤘🏻
Absolutely!
Do you need a mic to get this tones or does it sounds good with just the katana amp?
Keep up the good work👍🏻

i’d say a medium (not disturbing the neighbors) loudness is what i usually have going.

if your amp is on the ground. if its pointing at your face (mine is). are also some big things as to why it wouldn’t sound the same.
The point is to play guitar!
