What do you do with the broken phone
@@ricky1000also ask Jerry rig everything
@@jvris already did
You had the iPhone's frame as 'Titanium', but isn't the frame almost entirely Aluminum, with a strip of titanium fused around the outer edge? That's what JerryRigEverything found when pulling he phone apart.
Both of them have broken backs, but how much will it cost for the repair? Could you answer that?
Titanium may be stronger and harder than aluminium but that also means more of the impact will be transferred to the rest of the phone, whereas aluminium would just deform and absorb a lot of the impact.
Yeah and alluminum isnt too hard to reform back how it was. Lil bit of buffing would do it fine
That's how tempered glass works to protect the screen from damage
@@Dra999. It doesnt do a very great job at it clearly as we look at newer phones published which crumble at the press of a finger
It's not even titanium the shell is less than 1 inch and under that titanium shell you can see a nice thick layer of aluminum
Man, going back to the 12 series, especially the 12 Pro Max drop test, it’s crazy how Apple threw away the formula for a resilient phone. The 12 Pro Max will be goated for that for a long time.
My 12 pro is so good without a case. I only use a tempered glass protector. Dropped it many times on rough concrete and never had an issue with the screen or glass back cracking. And the stainless steel housing barely takes any damage.
13 series isn’t bad either tbh
Ive got an 12 an i dropt it from my desk and the hole back glas shattert maybe i was just unlucky
@@Vitsigunyou were unlucky my 12 without a case fell on concrete just got a small scuff and the glass is perfect
Drop my 13 Pro a dozen times a week, often on the concrete garage floor. Zero cracks. Basic tough style case.
I love how the harder titanium frame is seen as protecting the phone more. When really a harder frame is just going to allow more of the shock vibration to go through the phone to the glass, making it more likely to crack. I would much rather a more pliable frame that scuffs but has less glass cracking
You can either get a case or pay $169 or $199 for a new glass screen
Apple's titanium is nothing but marketing
Lol.. I like how people trying to justify the usage of 1mm thick titanium which is not stronger than the previous stainless steel frame.
Time to switch galaxy lol
Titanium was to make it lighter.
The Galaxy is a bigger, heavier phone with a curved display. A solid win for the Galaxy.
@@Indy_Mapping_EditsHe meant that it's a big win for Galaxy that it didn’t crash as badly as an iPhone, even though it's bigger and heavier, with curved display.
Its bigger, heavier, has curved display yet didn't fail like the iphone. And how is getting a bigger, better display for the same amount of money not better?@@Indy_Mapping_Edits
@0vTXpress I tried one galaxy with curved edges (s8), and I did love the look and feel. Unfortunately I also used it without a case and it eventually fell and got cracked on the curved edge. Every galaxy I bought since then has had a flat display and I prefer it overall. Haven't broken one since. Currently using my s21 without a case and it feels so nice
@0vTXpress did you even read what I said? I said I prefer flat screens overall, but liked the look and feel of the curved screen while I had it. My current and previous phones were both flat screened galaxy's (s10e and s21). If curved edges could be more durable, I'd consider trying it again, but I'll stick with flat for now.
Take the L isheep
Well, S23 ultra should get more points since the back glass on 15 pro max can easily be shattered by applying little pressure.
Even minimal thumb pressure can be disastrous for the thing.
@@neilmcguinness4422not minimal the dudes fingers were white
@Handsome_Squidward69420 not that much press the pro max did much worse than normal 15
@@Handsome_Squidward69420Bro that is minimal… You still have to apply force.
Would love to see a test with the regular impact case to see protection. More sensible case for most people for size
Yes, would never use that case, its big and really ugly..
i-Blason cases are very good and the phone will survive all these tests as good as this case.
Why is tempered glass on PC cases stronger than smartphones? Despite much cheaper prices.
@@zeniktorres4320 most cases would survive this
@@fynkozari9271it's thicker glass. The glass on smartphones are really thin. Anytime Corning (makers of Gorilla glass and ceramic shield) improved the formula, phone makes decide to make them thinner and thinner. Or basically make them 90% glass as it's the case with all flagship phones since the iPhone 4. I would rather want the back to be metal or plastic but it doesn't look or feel "premium" even though 90% of people stick a case on their phone. While on a laptop it's usually protected by metal or plastic.
I miss the bonus round being 10 drops. I feel like that gives a really good idea to how the phone will hold up over a few years worth of drops and shocks
Same, I also miss the drop test from 1m.
it really doesn’t give a good idea, who the hell drops their phone 10 times onto concrete throughout a few years, not to mention people would most likely have a case or a skin

@@notlxrd2In the speed test, the iPhone wins, but for the average user there is no difference. the iphone just starts spewing glass everywhere and fall apart, which is a major con
that corner drop practically destroyed the back, idk how that was slight edge at all
Lol he kept saying SLIGHT edge and I was like, DUDE!!! 😂
Feels like the iPhone took a step back this year, let’s hope Apple fixes these issues.
they made the glass protrude on both the frond and back, so unless it is a straight corner drop the phone should always crack if dropped on hard and unever surface.

Nothing they can do without changing the design. See JerryRig how the iPhone 15 Pro Max cracks quite heavily when slightly pushed in the middle from the back side. The titanium might matter too, as it is less flexible, I think. And they will not change the design as they ordered tens/hundreds of millions and that costs many billions of dollars.
This is the durability test I have been waiting for. Thanks you :)

Can't fathom how that second drop was a tie... But otherwise, great video, very insightful

Was waiting for this so long
I think it goes without saying that any large phone should be in a case if you’re worried about damaging it.
I actually loved the case testing! It’s always so difficult to find proper reviews or drop tests of phone cases. I would love to see more dedicated tests like this for popular phone cases.
It made me angry literally. Plus the case looks so bad, dont know who would love to carry this sht arround.
I agree with not liking the case, personally I’m a big Mous/Dbrand Grip case guy, and I would love to see testing with those cases.
Man love your videos excellent work
Been waiting for his video past 2 weeks thank you
that ultra bounce case is like putting a huge chrome bumper guard over a Mercedes S Class 😂
For real. It's absurd😂. Unless you're an outdoor construction worker, it's depressing to use such case with something this sleek and beautiful.
mostly meant for people who are over paranoid about the durability of their phones
Apple cannot do anything about this fail without changing the design. See at JerryRig how the iPhone 15 Pro Max cracks quite heavily when slightly pushed in the middle from the back side. The titanium might matter too, as it is less flexible, I think. And they will not change the design as they ordered tens/hundreds of millions and that costs many billions of dollars.
I guess it is due to the thinness of the rear glass. To make it as light as possible, something's gonna give
@DarkPa1adin there's also no metal backplate to the glass either they moved it to the inside layer of the phone
The problem is, this new titanium frame is actually stronger and less flexible, but the awful thing apple did this year is that they removed the aluminum backplate behind the back glass that was like a wall behind it to handle more pressure, they putted that on the phone frame itself not the glass (that’s also why replacement got significantly cheaper) so combining all of that make it much harder for that glass handle pressure like before, the old design and stainless steel proved to be objectively better so hope they go back to that again.
If titanium is less flexible, then the back glass should be safer. The only reason the back glass shatters is because it is now weaker.
Waited a long time for this 🔥
Thanks for the tests
i love how you can see glass flying in every iphone drop
Titanium doesn’t absorb shock that much and the iPhone back glass is protruding out from frame

you can tell the S23U's biggest weakness is it's curved display, as always
the same exact shattering pattern happened to my S8 few years ago.
No worrys s24 no more edges
Yeah I hated the curved edges. It completely abolishes the integrity of the phone.
I love what the s23 ultra did with the curved display compared to the s22 ultra. Case on it feels dead flat. S24 ultra us going to look way too boxy
I like the boxy look, plus its not going to break as fast@@williamg7138
I think it would be fairer if you did the drop test with a new s23 ultra, not using the same clip in the drop test with the ip14 Promax (personal opinion). All the cracks of the s23 ultra in this video are the same as the s23ultra in the drop test with the ip14 promax :))
your 4K closeup are the best quality closeup i have seen of the iphone 15 so far on youtube
i can’t wait for the speed test from this channel
The moral of the story, and why 80% of sensible people use a case and glass screen protector, is to spend a bit more to protect your £1400 devices. Even after the first drop, you would spend loads on a repair, even though the S23U looked worse, the cost would be similar! I am impressed both are still fully functional after a hard beating that does not represent real life at all.
With AppleCare+ you can replace front and back glass for a small fee.
@@eugene1640 After you factor in the monthly cost of AppleCare+ it isn't all that small of a fee, is it?
Correct! I don’t know anyone who runs around with a naked phone.

Deveria ter usado um outro S23 ultra com capa anti impacto da mesma marca também pra ser justo
Where is your speed test video? I always wait for that
Finally a more scientific drop test. Love this channel
The takeaway: if you can't hold onto your phone, you should probably be using a case and a screen protector.
My hunch is that the Titanium Frame is proven to be a tough material although the current Ceramic Shield can't keep up with the frame's durability. They should upgrade Ceramic Shield next to match the titanium frame's durability so it wont break that easily
how about update to some plastc? tha one uses to make screwdriver handles, cheaper and dropproof
This is the video I was waiting for.
Really excellent video and comparison. What's the film protector?
iPhone 15 pro’s titanium frame is more brittle than stainless steel which will absorb less shockwave resulting in more glass breakage. And if the glass breaks less or more in both phones you will have to replace it anyway. 🤷🏻♂️
But the cost my guy
And in one case I would be more willing to not replace it
the back on the s23u remains intact even if it gets cracked multiple times, it never gets brittle, and you don't have to replace it
even if you do, it costs like 20$
on the iphone however, the glass is an absolute mess, and you have to change it, and oh boy it costs a healthy amount
@@ridakesserwan8712that’s bullshit the quote for a back glass repair by Samsung is $149 ex Tax. Yeah you can buy an off brand part for $20, + an hour worth of your time, but good luck sealing that to IP68 and will not be the same glass quality as original.
@davidbelecci6970 where I stay (India) if you want to replace iPhone 15 base back glass the it's 15k inr before service charges and for Samsung it's 2.5k before service charge for s23 base. The issue is iPhone 13 is even more pricey at around 33k(not sure about the exact price, but above 30k for sure)
the cost is almost 6x to replace an iPhone 15 base back glass as compared to base s23
I think it will same in many other countries
@@davidbelecci6970 it will never be the same as original even after Samsung's own repair, they don't include it in the warranty, that's a universal thing.
it's not even 3rd party that costs that much, you can buy the genuine one for cheap compared to what apple offers
you don't need 2 braincells to consider this phone a better option for repairability, it won't splatter everywhere and repair costs are relatively affordable

@@kujobroI think it’s about wireless charging and some other things like repairability
I mean, yes, not every phone can survive every drop. It may depend on the angle or where exactly it hits the place but 15 pro max clearly shatters and loses pieces of glass from its rear glass and you are very likely to end up with a phone with missing glass pieces in the rear, which is not the case with 14 pro max. Apple must take into account user feedback and do something about this. In countries like Turkey where iPhone is really really expensive, it is a complete turn off. iPhone 15 pro Max's base model, for example, costs as much as 8 months of my rent here.
That's quite something.

The 15 Pro will be put in the same category as the 6/6 plus: bad structural decisions lead to poor durability. Too bad, I was going to buy the Pro after seeing the launch
Depends on your use. My 6 Plus held well with just minor dents on the edges even if it wasn’t occasionally dropped. Besides, what’s the point of not being careful after spending so much on a phone. The 15 Pro Max have the best battery life of any iPhone plus the processing power is also no joke. Useless opinion but it’s an opinion so it doesn’t really matter.
15 pro is holding up really well. Pro max back glass seems to shatter faster than previous models tho

Everything is fully functional. Same glass still. No cracks no nothing. One micro scratch near the bottom speaker when dropped the phone on gravel covered road. Otherwise - 7,5 years and going on. I am thinking it is time to upgrade 😅
@@danialadam. three things: everythingapplepro’s drop test shattered the 15 pro’s glass as well as the max’s from waist height, a pathetic result no matter how you look at it. Also, the 15 Plus appears to have a longer battery life than the Pro Max from Mrwhosetheboss’s testing, likely the result of a less power hungry chip. Also, Samsung S23 can go toe to toe with the 15 Pro…without overheating. I’m sure if you’re careful with the 15 pro you’ll be fine but I’m going to get the 15 Plus or 14 Pro Max for durability reasons.
Titanium is actually pretty soft compared to steel, it's just lighter that's all. If you want strength and toughness, steel it is!!
Yeah, looked it up after this vid and steel basically is more bend and scratch resistant… titanium is just lighter with a better strength to weight ratio.
I think if you have it in a case, titanium MAY do better, since it’s less weight (so everything is less likely to break) but bare… steel is just plain better.
Edit: I think titanium is mainly used in airplanes, which make sense in terms of being lighter and able to lift off the ground while retaining a certain level of strength. I think in smartphones… while lighter is nice… think steel just might be best.
Titanium needs coating. They need to take reference from titanium watches with coating that can withstand beyond 4800v (forgot the unit)
