    I do love how the Rise of Skywalker has now made Patrick Williams regret ever saying “This is a movie about space wizards intended for children”... so much to the point he has the gall to publicly claim he didn’t say that.

      He said x white critics tend to say the SAME opinion hence why he doesn't care about them. And having done serious research on this he is right - critics tend to converge on x spot and most critics do tend to be x
      The fallacy is in ASSUMING that ALL critics are equally bad. But the premise is not invalid - in fact Mauler and Wolf prove it by having radically bad opinions.

    It took me all these years to finally understand that all these bad "video" essays are just like the meandering essays you wrote in school trying to get to that word count about a subject you didn't actually care about, repeating yourself and probably contradicting your points. So basically EFAP is the teacher in this case grading Patrick the student Willams.

      The kid was just throwing words together so he could go out and play.

    Yeah, I feel the prequels are seriously underrated, but they still have their problems and they are by no means the height of cinema. But they had more effort put into them than the sequels, and they were definitely better planned than them too. It’s for that reason that I still view them as an integral part of Star Wars, and I have fun watching them and the OT...can’t say I feel the same when watching the sequels

    • @SkaterBlades
      @SkaterBlades 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      If there's one things the prequels did very well, it's world building. Showing us the different factions and how they operate. Expanding on characters that show OT characters like yoda and creamy sheeve in a different light where their roles are pretty much reversed. It also created an era of history for a lot of interesting situations in the clone wars.
      There's also a few hidden things that enrich the prequels, like the 3 secondary antagonists (maul, dooku and grievous) representing aspects of Anakin, the warrior, the fallen jedi and the cyborg. To note, anakin follows these in each film with these characters. Anakin first shows of his warrior spirit when he destroys a trade federation ship, he begins to fall to the dark gay when his mother dies and then he becomes a cyborg in the final film. Also, Obi wan takes on all 3 and defeats 2 of them implying that all 3 were training for him to take on anakin

    • @Сайтамен
      @Сайтамен 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      TPM shows why Anakin is so important, his strong attachment to his mom, why Obi-Wan wasn't right teacher to him, why he hates Tatooine, Jedi rules, Palpatine becoming chancellor, world building, etc...And of course, podracing and Darth Maul.
      AOTC actually tells a story (Palpatine's rise to power by manipulation Republic and Separatists, Anakin's progression of falling to the Dark Side, start of the Clone Wars), develops characters, shows us real war, new planets, species, ships, droids, world, and has connection with 1 and 3.
      What ROTS show us? The largest battle in the Clone Wars, deaths of Dooku and Grievous, Kashyyk battle, Anakin's conflict with Jedi and himself, his weakness (save who he loves), which perfectly works with saving Luke, Palpatine's manipulation and rise to power, Order 66, 2 amasing final battles and the creation of Darth Vader and Empire, birth of Luke and Leia, new hope. It is meaning for the whole Galaxy and is the most emotional.
      TFA is a copypaste of ANH without any logic, good characters, with stupid jokes, infinite coincidences, which retconned whole OT: Empire hasn't fallen, Han and Leia are not together, Luke left everyone like a coward, etc...
      TLJ is not a movie, it's middle-finger to all star wars fans. Stupid jokes in each serious moment, ruining old characters, copy of OT, not answering any questions, breaking the lore, pointless sequences.
      TROS: Somehow Palpatine has returned, lol.
      AOTC is 100 times better than any of this hot mess.

      I wish the dialogue and some parts of the plot were more refined it's one of my gripes especially the midochlorian thing I think they should've just went with something simple because the movie onwards doesn't even go that deep into it neither I believe did the Clone wars show. There are plot holes like the assassination attempts on Padme but other than that yeah it was going for something I liked it but yes there are serious problems

    • @kylemc2290
      @kylemc2290 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yamatonoryuujin4871 Agreed, 100 percent. Though there was stuff in legends that I really liked regarding midichlorians (The Darth Plagueis novel ) the short explanation that they gave in Phantom Menace didn't really do a good job clarifying what they are. Casual watchers would just immediately assume that bacteria are the force. Instead of a blood sample to test how potentially powerful Anakin was, it would have been better to have a more mystical/arthurian kind of test for Force Sensitivity in my opinion.
      And yeah, I had a ton of problems regarding Padme in the prequels, and not just because of how it seemed like Natalie Portman just phoned it in for Episode 3. She's just all over the place as a character.

  • @viddykhaos2896

    “This is a movie intended for children,” does not excuse horrible writing and a lack of proper efforts.
    A toy, is made for children. It still must be a good toy, which provides entertainment and joy, and is safe, in order to be good.
    When films such as UP, Kung Fu Panda. Finding Nemo, Lion King, Prince of Egypt, etc. all exist as animated films created by studios that traditionally create films for children and/or younger audiences, you have no excuse to not do so EVEN IF you claim that your film is for children.
    TLJ, and Star Wars as a whole, is arguably not tied to any single age group. It has no excuse to be as horrible as it is.

    I genuinely liked Alien Covenant. Sure it's a flawed film but there's a lot *to* like in the movie. Great music composition, breathtaking visuals, some really good dialogue (when it isn't hokey anyways) and some great scares to good effects. Plotwise it's kinda all over the place and it does kinda hemorrhage Canon (as Ridley seems to do these days) but it's still an enjoyable popcorn flick.
