      According to my daughter, I am a 'boomer', but I have no idea what a 'Gen Z' is or what their humour involves. And I strongly suspect that it would be best - for me, at least - if it stays that way...

    • @mygirldarby
      @mygirldarby 2 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      @@paulhaynes8045 I doubt it. You're probably not a Boomer if you have a kid who is Gen Z. The youngest Boomers are abt 62 years old. If you were born 1941-1959 (give or take a couple of years), you're a Baby Boomer or a "Boomer." The term comes from the baby boom that happened during and after WWII. If you were born between 1960-1980, you are Gen X. Millenials or Gen Y were born approx. 1981-1999. People born abt 2000-2020 are Gen Z. A generation is roughly 20 years, +/- 2-3 years. I don't think it's best for you not to know about generations and their characteristics, although I fail to see how Dr. Francis in the video has "Gen Z" humor since would be considerd among the oldest of the Millennials, being born in 1981, or the youngest of Gen X.
      Humor really isn't that much different among the generations. If it were we couldn't look back to old comedians from the past and find them humorous. I find Charlie Chaplin's black and white silent movies hilarious and he is way, way before all of our time.

    I can't believe we're starting to have medical stand up comedy in 2022.

    Human evolution from the moment in wich a monkey lost it's tail and started hanging upside down has been a series of blunders that somehow paidoff :
    We lost our tail , started brachiating , the body became upright to compensate ,
    It became significantly faster and more agile among the trees ,
    Some came down on two legs , they could move really efficiently and use tools for defence and offence ,
    Others became knuckle walkers and could reach larger sizes ,
    The tailess , brachiating , bipedal tool using monkeys that cook food have discovered agricolture , now everything is extinct

    5:35 Excuse me, Rohin, you've clearly never had pet mice. They "thrive" off of Mycoplasma. Damn things die from lung disease like flies. If they don't die from cancer that is. I've had mice for quite a while. Poor breeding practices for decades, focused on only appearance, have given them pisspoor health. We're trying to fix it. But, anyway, mice. Lots and lots of colds and pneumonias.

    Throughout this whole thing the main thing I was thinking was "can I make my own niche of academia into a comedy routine".
    I'm not naturally funny except for being able to riff on what other people have already said and some exceptional dad jokes/puns. There's got to be *something* funny about spending eight years of my life studying volcanoes only to find that I basically don't know anything about them and should have just gone into finance after my undergraduate and retired by now.

    Each of these shortcomings has a lot more advantages than disadvantages, except the heart one. Yes we have many bones in our wrists in feet, but they allow more complex movement. Bipedalism is one the most important aspects of our evolution. The knee is held together by a rubber band, but its not like you have infinte space in the knee, only a rubber band fits. Our backs are also not as weak as we think if we properly strenghten postural muscles. We can lift hundreds of punds for Christ sake.
