Yea they misspoke on this one. They are not going to raise the price any higher during peak times, but instead discount it during off peak times. In the US this can be likened to a "Happy Hour" that many restaurants already do.... "Half Price Apps" from 4-6 PM because that's a slow time for them is one example... heck, there's a restaurant in my town where all entrees are advertised half price from 5-8PM Monday thru Thursday. It gets people in the seats, makes up on volume and people buy alcohol and soda which are higher margin than the entrees most of the time, anyway What Wendy's is doing isn't novel, it just isn't seen implemented by a nationwide Fast Food purveyor. It's like everyone angry has never gone to a happy hour.
Reducing the price of food that is about to be thrown out could in theory be a good use of this. If we have a chicken sandwich we are about to throw out reduce the price, recoup some money, give someone a deal, and reduce food waste. I say "in theory" because i don't think this is the best way to reduce waste or what they are planning to use the new pricing model to accomplish.
IT ain't that complicated bruh... a burger will be cheaper in the off peak hours and the normal price in the peak hours, if you want french toast stix they'll be cheaper at 9pm, if you want a platter of burgers for 8 people and thick cut steak fries you can make it at home for the price of one combo with a teeny Frosty, ok?
But the problem is people will avoid regular hours and then go in on the off hours which means prices ALL the time will go up. idk what you see as a good part of this but i don't anticipate they're gonna want to lower prices.
@@adankpancake Nah, maybe some will take advantage of the off peak times but the reason there's peak times is because that's when most people are hungry and also available, like lunch hour or after work dinner time. Only retirees ever take advantage of the early bird or "blue plate" special that's existed since the dawn of dining out. IT's borrowing from the Uber model of supply and demand.
minimum wage federally is still 7.25. it's raised in bigger cities because cost of living has gone up but there is empirical evidence out there that has proven companies are raising prices and making record profits nearly every year. talk to me about wages after you stop being a class traitor
