I made coffee out of the nutpowder and smeared it over my sunglasses, now they have a matte finish and I found out the nutpowder works just like Dillan optics NIR technology, reflecting the UV beams from the sunlight. So thank you now I don't need new sunglasses.

Going to cut a lot of haters off at the pass about reliability. Yes, the R56 was unreliable for a few years. If you're looking for an R56 Mini you need to know what years to buy. For the Cooper S you want at least a 2011, but more a 2012 or a 2013. These have the "newer motor" mentioned in the video, the N18. The N18 had 2 versions. The 2011 and any 2012s up to a 03/2012 build date have the first version with a Continental High Pressure Fuel Pump that is unreliable. The second version after 03/2012 build dates have a Bosch HPFP that is much more reliable, however they don't move as much fuel and are harder to tune for power. The caveat to this is the JCW. The JCW did not get the N18 until 2013 model years. This is because they had difficulty moving enough fuel with the Bosch HPFP to support the bigger turbo. Before 2013 on the JCW and before 2010 on the S, the N14 motor (shown in the video and mentioned as the "older motor") has a lot of issues with thermostats, water pumps, HPFP, and timing chain tensioners. If you are looking to buy an R56, avoid the N14 like the plague.
totally agree. Went through my 06 R53 and fixed trouble spots with some better parts, and all was well. They are far from reliable, but with TLC you will be alright.
I blew a motor on my R56, but that was partially my fault. For the most part if you stick to 5000 mile oil changes and make sure it's not eating oil you should be fine. Also, approve of the Meshuggah \m/
i have a 07 cooper s and only knew about the timing chain and the crank ventilation system issues. then again what car or motor wont have some kind of issue eventually.
UnlinealHand very true! I had a 2009 MCS and I loved it but it was non stop problems. Then I had a 2013 which was a lot easier but for some reason the ecu was harder to decrypt. Now I have a fiesta st. But nonetheless Minis are fantastic cars
My 2009 N14 Clubman Cooper S was a joke of a car. Gotta love that Peugeot PSA engine in a 'premium' vehicle. Will never touch a MINI/BMW for as long as I can, their build quality on that car was horrendous, yet zero Euro/UK recalls for ALL of the common problems.

Love the fast MINIs. One of the best handling FWD cars of all time. Loved my R53, went like stink and screamed like a demon. With a 17% reduction pulley it was perfect for DD and some trackuse. Was rock solid too, no issues.
These are a bargain these days for a track car project.

Instead of upgrading for a better clutch, let's downgrade the car...he said i went through "A" clutch, it isn't that bad, but why downgrade the power for that ? meh seems a weird logic to me, maybe im too "ricer" who knows....rice is good btw...especially with some CHASSIS NUTS POWDER on top of it ^^ ;)

35,000 miles for a clutch on a "performance" car is actually not too bad. On the Mini's if you take it too a dealer to have it replaced then yes it will cost an arm and a leg, but if you buy the parts yourself and do the work it is literally 10 hours MAX doing it yourself with a quick 4 corner jack that costs $300 plus the specialty BMW tools at another $120 (plus whatever clutch you want to buy) you are into a full clutch a flywheel replacement for under $1000 and they make MANY clutches for Mini's to handle near 300whp which is very difficult to get out of a non-head swapped, bigger turbo N18. So he literally would have been fine spending $1000 instead of making it slower, less fun, and overall less attractive (to car guys). The guy's answer seemed sketchy to begin with.

147k on my 08 R55 N14. I am aware of the issues of these engines but mine has served me very sweet and well over these years. Had a prior 02 r53 as well and loved it to but the turbo is great. Just gotta keep up on maintenance and listen to that engine to be aware of the timing chain. If you use the updated tensioner with the new chain guides it will be nice to you. Also gotta watch that vacuum pump don't run dry from low engine oil cause it will snap a cam shaft.

I do want to correct one thing. The JCW Minis of that generation do have an Electronic LSD. That was one of the main differences between the S and the JCW.
What did he say about the Exhaust, I can't hear it clearly enough but something about a Invidia Q300?
I'd buy the "just add Öhlins" shirt, just don't make it Mini specific... I have Öhlins on my Miata. also, R/T Öhlins are around 2k for most applications...

only 200bhp? wow so little for something that's boosted. a clutch in 35k miles? ha I burned out mine in my Cobalt LS in a couple thousand miles in the first year of it's life racing it to hard. now over 86k with the second clutch and still running strong and only weights a little bit more then that mini Cooper.
now I've got an SS/TC to replace my LS as a daily now my LS will be my track toy.

A little bit of sound deadening in the rear would have taken out more of the exhaust noise then 5 cars back seats and still being able to see out the window I still haven't figured out how the hell did they make the most expensive version and it was using up all the older motors and stock that 70+ HP more a 2nd gen s have isn't going anywhere with a base being 500+ lbs lighter and that's before the rear seats and I have AAA and I have a 2010 with the panarama roof white with the power stripes soon to be removed and God bless great friends Matt said do you want it for the trade in value and I was like I don't want you to do anything because I am getting a helluva deal and he could spend $500+ and I was like you don't get anything for fixing the stuff that is broken and he was like I didn't even think about that but I'm trying to figure out how to make it a 500 HP AWD the country Man was also a second generation and it will not be the first drive shaft to get cut down if you can make a r32 golf with the gas tank and trunk of a Jetta and a trip to the junkyard and not having a years insurance of a real R32

Also check for lumps on your nuts. More on topic though modern mini's are ugly as fuck. Mini is a terrible representation for these cars. They are the opposite of what the original mini's where. They are big and expensive. Would love it if they came out with a mini that was like the original. Wouldn't buy it though because the original mini is that good.

Hey Matt. Not necessarily a fan of vehicle virgins, but just watched his video of amg gt on the snake and his pov view provided a much greater sense of speed on the same road you drive. Have you considered do a pov cam? I realize you would look stupid in the camera facing you with a camera strapped to your head but still.
These cars are a lot of fun but can be a bit pricey to maintain. I have an R52 with a 5 speed and I still have a blast driving it to work every day. It's also been a pretty reliable car for me and I'm almost at 100,000 miles.
