I made coffee out of the nutpowder and smeared it over my sunglasses, now they have a matte finish and I found out the nutpowder works just like Dillan optics NIR technology, reflecting the UV beams from the sunlight. So thank you now I don't need new sunglasses. But now I need some smokingtire tshirts because I ran out of toilet paper and they keep my ass dry.
Going to cut a lot of haters off at the pass about reliability. Yes, the R56 was unreliable for a few years. If you're looking for an R56 Mini you need to know what years to buy. For the Cooper S you want at least a 2011, but more a 2012 or a 2013. These have the "newer motor" mentioned in the video, the N18. The N18 had 2 versions. The 2011 and any 2012s up to a 03/2012 build date have the first version with a Continental High Pressure Fuel Pump that is unreliable. The second version after 03/2012 build dates have a Bosch HPFP that is much more reliable, however they don't move as much fuel and are harder to tune for power. The caveat to this is the JCW. The JCW did not get the N18 until 2013 model years. This is because they had difficulty moving enough fuel with the Bosch HPFP to support the bigger turbo. Before 2013 on the JCW and before 2010 on the S, the N14 motor (shown in the video and mentioned as the "older motor") has a lot of issues with thermostats, water pumps, HPFP, and timing chain tensioners. If you are looking to buy an R56, avoid the N14 like the plague.
totally agree. Went through my 06 R53 and fixed trouble spots with some better parts, and all was well. They are far from reliable, but with TLC you will be alright.
I blew a motor on my R56, but that was partially my fault. For the most part if you stick to 5000 mile oil changes and make sure it's not eating oil you should be fine. Also, approve of the Meshuggah \m/
i have a 07 cooper s and only knew about the timing chain and the crank ventilation system issues. then again what car or motor wont have some kind of issue eventually.
UnlinealHand very true! I had a 2009 MCS and I loved it but it was non stop problems. Then I had a 2013 which was a lot easier but for some reason the ecu was harder to decrypt. Now I have a fiesta st. But nonetheless Minis are fantastic cars
My 2009 N14 Clubman Cooper S was a joke of a car. Gotta love that Peugeot PSA engine in a 'premium' vehicle. Will never touch a MINI/BMW for as long as I can, their build quality on that car was horrendous, yet zero Euro/UK recalls for ALL of the common problems.
Reuben Goh my car has double the mileage, it's 17 years old, and it only has 172hp at the crank and it's quicker in the corners and sportier than this mini 😎
Love the fast MINIs. One of the best handling FWD cars of all time. Loved my R53, went like stink and screamed like a demon. With a 17% reduction pulley it was perfect for DD and some trackuse. Was rock solid too, no issues. These are a bargain these days for a track car project.
totally agree man. I currently have an 05 r53 and it's a makes me smile everyday. It has quaife lsd ati 2 percent crank damper and 16% pulley. 25mm rear swaybar with Pilot super sports tires. Go kart on steroids!
Watched this right after the N600 build, such a different style of build, so much respect for both owners, why I love cars, couldn't get a more different mindset for a build but are both lovely.
I know the guy from the video who still owns this car! It's for SALE!!! Email him if you know someone who might be in the market for some super-fast FUN!! eelliott1234@gmail.com
That's an awesome looking Mini! Had an '06 with an intake, pulley and exhaust similar to how Matt describes his R53. Happens to still be my photo, but just got a 2015 F56 Cooper S! Most fun in a car you can have! And hello to a fellow Ethan Mini owner!
Thanks!!! I know the guy from the video (Ethan!!) who still owns this car! It's for SALE!!! Email him if you know someone who might be in the market for some super-fast FUN!! eelliott1234@gmail.com
If you order within 15 minutes you get the asscrack edition too aswell as 3 exclusive Manpads* for those special times when you get extra humid and responsive down there
147k on my 08 R55 N14. I am aware of the issues of these engines but mine has served me very sweet and well over these years. Had a prior 02 r53 as well and loved it to but the turbo is great. Just gotta keep up on maintenance and listen to that engine to be aware of the timing chain. If you use the updated tensioner with the new chain guides it will be nice to you. Also gotta watch that vacuum pump don't run dry from low engine oil cause it will snap a cam shaft.

I do want to correct one thing. The JCW Minis of that generation do have an Electronic LSD. That was one of the main differences between the S and the JCW.
Woo finally! I seen a brief glimpse of this in the parking lot when he took that sketchy Camaro out, been waiting and waiting on this one as I have a R56 chassis as well. Might make my mirror caps a funky color now...

These cars are a lot of fun but can be a bit pricey to maintain. I have an R52 with a 5 speed and I still have a blast driving it to work every day. It's also been a pretty reliable car for me and I'm almost at 100,000 miles.
OH MYLORD!!! Matt thank you sooo much! the nut advert was the best thing that happened on youtube for a while! I'm loving your style man! since the big bigger biggest on DC back in the day I'm a fan of your wit and nice voice (no bromo)

Instead of upgrading for a better clutch, let's downgrade the car...he said i went through "A" clutch, it isn't that bad, but why downgrade the power for that ? meh seems a weird logic to me, maybe im too "ricer" who knows....rice is good btw...especially with some CHASSIS NUTS POWDER on top of it ^^ ;)
Ya, I got a hint of BS from that kid but I don't know anything about him or his car other than what I saw in this video so I might be completely off base.
35,000 miles for a clutch on a "performance" car is actually not too bad. On the Mini's if you take it too a dealer to have it replaced then yes it will cost an arm and a leg, but if you buy the parts yourself and do the work it is literally 10 hours MAX doing it yourself with a quick 4 corner jack that costs $300 plus the specialty BMW tools at another $120 (plus whatever clutch you want to buy) you are into a full clutch a flywheel replacement for under $1000 and they make MANY clutches for Mini's to handle near 300whp which is very difficult to get out of a non-head swapped, bigger turbo N18. So he literally would have been fine spending $1000 instead of making it slower, less fun, and overall less attractive (to car guys). The guy's answer seemed sketchy to begin with.

Those seats are sick. I'm also sick after learning that you go through a lot of nut powder
They look like ASM recaro.
Not bad for a 65,000 year old car!

Integra DIY but it's a honda so it's just as sporty if not less than a mini lol
user nam3z cost less than a mini and cost less to own than a mini.. the mini does have higher top speed and it's more comfortable though
your Teggy is much easier to steal too
Wesley Green fourth gen camaros are easy to steal too. I have 2 mini coopers and they're not difficult to steal also.

Lol
HAHAHAHHAA, That ad really made my day..
hey its no big deal the guys gotta pay his bills.
A edgy 12 year old.. I know, nothing against ads at all, just don't tell me it wasn't hilarious. I guess matt himself cracked a laugh while doing it.
Freaking Matt made me spit coffee and choke from laughing. I'm serious, I was coughing for 5 minutes.
A drawer of forks... best description of the interior of a higher mileage Mini I've every heard. Bravo Matt!
My 05 Cooper S just rolled over to 140,000 miles still going strong
Love the fast MINIs. One of the best handling FWD cars of all time. Loved my R53, went like stink and screamed like a demon. With a 17% reduction pulley it was perfect for DD and some trackuse. Was rock solid too, no issues.

Rock solid my ass dude
what can I say, it never went wrong.
I've heard of people owning reliable Neons, some people just get lucky :P

its the closest thing you can get to an e30 m3 without selling a kidney
Finally someone representing the minis. I would totally bring my R53 on but I live in Michigan sadly:(
YEEEEEEAAAAHH A MINI! 🤘🤘🤘 The last Mini video was like 3 years old so as an owner myself I've been looking forward to this.

Dude your ad is now legendary!
Honestly, you make some pretty good commercials. It's really ballin'.
Small is fun. I think it gives you driving thrills at road speeds you can't get in super high end sports cars. Its the miata phenomena.

Hahah I just made this comment too. Glad to see some other H3H3 fans!
SLAAAAAAAAAMMING!
Really like those acid green calipers, reminds me of the 918. Not typically a fan of mini but I like this one... except those mirrors.
Matt, made me cracked up every time you said "nuts"!!! Awesome!!! Love your show brother!
the product placement bit....Very Well Done....I think I am going to get some!!!
I do want to correct one thing. The JCW Minis of that generation do have an Electronic LSD. That was one of the main differences between the S and the JCW.
OMG! This with a light purple instead of the green. I love the color scheme.
*TAKE CARE OF YOUR NUTS PEOPLE!* 😂
What did he say about the Exhaust, I can't hear it clearly enough but something about a Invidia Q300?
Jesus that is a great add. You're a genius Matt.
Best ad ever Matt, you should combine it with the Comfyballs pants.

Dude went through a clutch in how many miles?! How on earth do you do that unless you can’t drive stick?!
This seriously makes me miss my R56 MCS :(
drove a mini past 140,000 miles, held together fine.... not saying the ride didn't feel like shit but it wasn't falling apart at all.
God i love skipping those ads in the beginning. The euphoria is real

I really like your ads honestly.
That intro wins the award for most random intro topic ever
Best product ad I've seen!
Matt when are you coming back to CT I have got a leased mini with about 300bhp that I want you to drive!
Couldn't care less about the car, only subbed to this channel to learn about Matt's assenballs.
Vindicated.
That intro was nuts!
Which road was this filmed on? I remember I used to see a lot on Mulholland Highway, but this one is new... Angeles Crest?
That promo in itself is worth s thumbs up. Im going full famboy here
Does the sound get louder at 6:08 or is it just me?
the beginning of this video is nuts
best ad spot ever
2 mins in and I don't believe a word this guy says.
Matt whats going on with the milion mile lexus?
Does that stuff work on metric nuts too? or only on imperial nuts?
a commercial like this over shadows the video how could it not. Hoping to see the 3 alfas back to back to back but this is nice
Matt! What hair products do you use?
The commercial is epic, almost snl worth
Hey man, that was a ballsy move putting that endorsement in. But I'll never buy nut powder if it has talcum powder in it, cuz that stuff might cause cancer. I'd rather have smelly nuts than no nuts.
gryphen_357 no talc in this powder;
That's the thing
Carry on then, and thanks for thinking about our nuts!
Hey Matt, where can i get some of those sweets weet sunglasses?
Looking like you had a nice morning chief before this shoot hahaha. Very cool as always
Someone over in the US, please give Matt your R53 Cooper S to review!!
This was a great episode, really good energy. Sweet car too.

Do have any plans to do an R53?
I'd buy the "just add Öhlins" shirt, just don't make it Mini specific... I have Öhlins on my Miata. also, R/T Öhlins are around 2k for most applications...
Will that extreme cream stand up to the rigors of my mangina?
I want to see the seats after the drive, I bet there's a white spot on the alcanterra from the nut powder.
From a more philosophical point of view , do the "chasis" products also work for Matt's scalp ?
What road is this filmed on?
Matt, what's the current lead time for submitting a car for a one take? I'm thinking of making a trip to LA in the fall (I'm in AZ) and thought it would be great to try and have you drive my car while I'm out there. How soon should I put my name on the list? Thanks!
Where do you get those fog halo lights?
Who owns this mini? Hope someone can help me. Need to know if where can I buy the Recaro base for the seats

Charles Bilodeau probably lied he had it heavily modified and probably just had a ebay intake slapped on it.
Fuck yeah! chassis! preach it brother! I even watched the Mini ad that followed
I'm pretty sure Ohlins R&T are around the $2500 mark. The TTX are 7-10k.
the sunroof rattle has always been a problem on my dad's r56

Nice turbo. Now, c'mon SoCal, let's show Matt what a well sorted R53 is.
Michael Cohen I agree, if I lived on the west coast I would definitely have him drive my well sorted r53 with quaife lsd!
do you find a big difference between the quaife lsd and the oem one? I just got an R53 car with the factory lsd.
imagine sharing this videos with your friends and they have to watch a ball powder ad, they'd be judging
Hey Matt. Not necessarily a fan of vehicle virgins, but just watched his video of amg gt on the snake and his pov view provided a much greater sense of speed on the same road you drive. Have you considered do a pov cam? I realize you would look stupid in the camera facing you with a camera strapped to your head but still.
alcantara is a brand? I though it was a material
The ohlins joke at the end was pretty funny lol
You have any powder for my lady parts?
