I would like to figure out how to stop procrastinating. Another thing I need to stop is my yearning for days gone by so that I can find and focus on the good in the present day.
A couple things that stuck out with this video: “HSP”-I am always sensitive to all things out of place. I am learning to walk by things and leave them behind. “Yes”-I retired 2.5 yrs ago and my husband just retired this last month. I was just able to tell him yesterday that I do not want to prepare three meals a day. I still want to make our evening meal, but not b-l-d. I started to realize he was beginning to expect me to feed him. I love my husband, but preparing 3/day will quickly affect that feeling. 🤭 So looking forward to 2025!
I need to quit some of these things too and I have already been thinking about diving into the slow and deep as well. I am a fellow homeschooling, foster mama. I know the anxiety and stress of fostering long term. Go as slow and deep as you nded and be hard to reach. Say no. Absolutely soak up your minutes and enjoy your children at this stage! Maybe add joining in making a few messy memories too. :)
Amen to being hard to reach! I have done the same thing with my phone for years, it will bless you so much. I don't even keep my sound on unless I'm expecting a call. Just check my phone as desired, it's plenty often!
“Love and hurry are incompatible.” - John Mark Comer’s The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. It’s a great book for slowing down if you want to feel less rushed. I need to adopt so many of these in my own life! I want to quit picking up my phone the first thing in the morning and have an hour of no screen time. 😄
This is such a great video-- very vulnerable! Many of the things you mentioned I’ve either overcome or have on my list too! ❤ Hope 2025 is a beautiful year for you!
100% agree on the thumbnails! 😆 And on not wanting to let the kids do certain things because I don't want to clean up messes. I'm really bad for that one.
Oh man we have so many the same….procrastinating, overly anxious, perfectionist, thinking the worst will happen, ❤ Appreciate your open and honest list.
I am working on procrastinating digital clutter. How I handle the "saying yes" issue is I try to assess if the person really needs my help or are they trying to pass off a chore to me. This will usually make me take a day to really think over it.
I keep a paper calendar. I didn't do this on purpose to begin with, but I have found it helps me to not have to say yes immediately to people, because I always have to say that I need to look at my calendar. Maybe that would help you in that area?
Jared and I have had synced digital calendars for years so I think it would be very hard for me to go back to a paper calendar, though I do love the idea of it!
Good for you! 🙌 I'm quitting listening to so many audiobooks in 2025. I have never been able to listen super fast, but normal speed is usually PA-IN-FUL-LY S-LO-W! So 1.15 to 1.25 speed is usually great. There are many others on your list that I could put on my list as well, but well, you know, I'm good at procrastinating! 😂
I totally agree that audiobooks are painfully slow at normal speed. Thankfully (kind of) I haven't been in the mood for audiobooks for the past few months so I haven't been listening to any. I'm guessing I'll opt to listen/watch TH-cam while I'm moving around and only read with my eyes this year.
Fellow procrastinator here! I struggle with perfectionism so I just won't do something if I can't do it perfectly. It's a struggle for sure! I can relate to so many of these things you are quitting!
I also have many of these things on my list as well! In 2024 I was very ruthless in deleting so many videos in my watch later - It went from nearly 400 to now under 100. I would like it to have just 50 videos and under. Also I'm getting better about closing those tabs but its hard! Happy to have found your channel in 2024! happy new year!!
This! ☝🏼I haven’t thought of this favorite quote for a long time. It is “For every thing you say yes to, you’re saying no to something else. So before you say yes, be sure you know what you’re saying no to. “
Wow, these are pretty much all things I really should do also! I was literally just saying to someone this morning that I have a hard time resting without feeling guilty about not getting more stuff done instead. My words for the year are peaceful energy - I want to feel calmer and more focused, but also find ways to boost my energy so I have the energy to do the things I actually want to be doing (I've discovered that energy management is at least as important as time management for me, since I'm not a naturally energetic person!). Happy New Year and all the best with your goals! 🙂
Yes, it's The Highly Sensitive Child by Elaine Aron. She also has one for adults but it's kind of terrible. The child one helped me for myself and for my kids, definitely recommend it.
This was very inspiring. I am quitting watching politics. I realised I am getting nothing from it. On one hand its nice to be up to date on events, but mainly its less stressful to live your own life and forget about what government is doing. If it isn't time to vote on an issue, there is nothing we can do about it. So, I'm swearing off of debates completely and utterly, and sticking to uplifting content.
I had to step away from the news completely a number of years ago, I found it was just affecting me too much. It can definitely be hard to not be in the know, but also very freeing!
I am quitting part of the TH-cam I watch. I only really like a couple channels so the rest is just filler and I have a job to fill that so I am just opting out of that part of the scrolling
My phone lets me set up daily timers for apps. I have these set up for my time-killer apps. I usually say, "I'll get back to you," or "I need to check with my husband before I commit."
The timer apps are cool but not quite what I'm looking for, glad they work for you! Those are great responses instead of saying yes right away, going to commit those to memory!
Embracing the season is one of the things I wrote down on my word of the year page. I definitely mean it in the season of life, but I included physical seasons too. I want to soak in what God has for me right now, not later or in the past.
Mine totally would be if I wouldn't go through on a regular basis and delete videos. I usually let it get to 400-ish and then go through and delete a bunch. This year I would like that to be closer to 50-ish before removing them.
I would like to figure out how to stop procrastinating. Another thing I need to stop is my yearning for days gone by so that I can find and focus on the good in the present day.
Definitely hard ones to fight against!

Yes, I agree, it's important to make some messy memories! 😄
Yes! Most of these are exactly what I need to stop doing as well. Especially embracing the season your in.
It's nice to hear that I'm not alone!
Amen to being hard to reach! I have done the same thing with my phone for years, it will bless you so much. I don't even keep my sound on unless I'm expecting a call. Just check my phone as desired, it's plenty often!
Yes, a much better way to live!

Yes, I read that book and watched his video series a couple of years ago, very good!
This is such a great video-- very vulnerable! Many of the things you mentioned I’ve either overcome or have on my list too! ❤ Hope 2025 is a beautiful year for you!
Thank you! I hope you have a beautiful 2025 as well.
I’ve been thinking along these same lines! 🙌🏼

💕 Here's to a slower, less anxious 2025!
I am working on procrastinating digital clutter.
How I handle the "saying yes" issue is I try to assess if the person really needs my help or are they trying to pass off a chore to me. This will usually make me take a day to really think over it.
That's a great approach to dealing with the "saying yes" problem!
I keep a paper calendar. I didn't do this on purpose to begin with, but I have found it helps me to not have to say yes immediately to people, because I always have to say that I need to look at my calendar. Maybe that would help you in that area?

@@ChantelKlassen that would make it difficult to make the change.
I don’t think I could slow down books or podcasts (or most videos)!😊 good luck with all of this
That will definitely be a hard one for me!
Yes! I love this. This was one of my goals for reading this year. I’m cutting my reading goal in half so I can go slower!

I hear ya! It's a hard habit to break!
I’ve seen ads for “grounding” bed sheets and the reviews look very positive for improving sleep. Looks intriguing to me.
I have never heard of those!
I also have many of these things on my list as well!

Ha, that tab habit, it's a tough one to quit! But yay for reducing some digital clutter!
Have you read Vanderbekeers of 141st by karina yan glaser. its a great book
Yes, we read it years ago in our homeschool! I never went on to read the rest of the series though.
25:36 Chantel, this was a very encouraging and inspiring video. You put words to feelings I have struggled to communicate. Thank you!
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this, Hope!
Every yes is a no to something else! My friend in ministry has been teaching me to set boundaries for myself. It has been difficult but so good.
I find it hard to know the line of when it's selfishness and when it's needed to set boundaries. Definitely a lot of prayer going into the year!
@@ChantelKlassen I struggle with that same line! Asking the Lord to give me wisdom in this area often.
This! ☝🏼I haven’t thought of this favorite quote for a long time. It is “For every thing you say yes to, you’re saying no to something else. So before you say yes, be sure you know what you’re saying no to. “
A boost of inspiration, thank you! But goodness, I don’t know if I could give up 2x speed on audiobooks and TH-cam!
Yeah . . . That's going to be a hard one! 😬
Good for you for choosing what's best for you. This speaks to me on a spiritual level. 😊
I hope this can help you quit some things this year as well!

Yes, I feel like when I have time to rest well, that can increase my productivity exponentially. I like the idea of "peaceful energy"!
I love these plans! I hope your 2025 is better for the margin and tranquility you are building into your life.
Thanks Christy, I'm really looking forward to 2025!
I love Morgan Long!
She's a lot of fun to watch!
What was the book you read about highly sensitive people? I think I need to read that book as well.
Yes, it's The Highly Sensitive Child by Elaine Aron. She also has one for adults but it's kind of terrible. The child one helped me for myself and for my kids, definitely recommend it.

Oh, well put, Kris!
Hamster wheel 😊. I love hamsters 🐹 I have two . Happy new year 🥳
So fun!

Oof feeling guilty for resting is a tough one 😅
And so is not hiding parts of yourself or your interests away because others are criticizing it 🫣
Ooo worst case scenario too … apparently you’re talking to me in this video as much as you are making goals for yourself 😂
It's nice to know that I'm not alone!

Haha, my watch later is at, like, 2000 😳
