For your chisel rack. You can divide sections evenly without using fractions if you lay your ruler diagonally on the work piece. If you need to divide an odd measurement into five sections, line up one corner on the 1" and the other on the 11" you now have 10 inches in the middle to divide into five 2" sections. Use the hypotenuse.

Looks like some good old Marples blue chip chisels. One of the most good old all around chisels made. When Irwin got them they went to China and you might as well use sharp stick instead. I know, I bought one at Menards just to see how bad they were.

Thanks Ben. My tool wall was peg board and I hung things. It made it easy to move things. After 7ish years, things have settled down where I prefer them and what I want on the wall vs. stored elsewhere. If I was ambitious, I'd now convert to some sort of wood like you have as I think it looks slightly nicer than pegboard.

Thanks for this! I’ve got some boards up on the basement wall just to do this very same thing. Very timely! Some nice ideas here that I’m going to steal. 😊

Is the shaker workbench that Mike and Matt built a few years ago going to be in the new shop? If not where is the bench at?

Agreed. I hate myself that I spent 7 mins watching. I definitely don’t feel “too precious “ about this video.

Cover the sharp ends of the chisels with another board. You can brush against the wall at arm height and get cut real bad.

Thats not necessary. I have had mine like that for years and never even bumped them. Unless you are clumsy or walking within an inch of your walls, that's not going to happen. If he does then he needs to cover up his saws also so he doesn't get snagged by the teeth. No disrespect meant by it, just disagree.

I agree. Been there done that. More likely to occur on tools walls that are closer to a bench where you are busy but still a good idea.

A better reason to do this is because this is the backdrop for videos and my OCD is going to drive me crazy when those chisels are misaligned just a little bit. This tool wall has to do double-duty. It has to be both a functional wall AND a pleasing backdrop for videos where people don't get distracted.

@@VinceEspositoJr My chisels are razor sharp and I have them covered. If you are moving your hands, grabbing at other things on the wall , why risk it is my thought. The shop is plenty dangerous as it is, so removing hazards where you can easily do so makes sense. I have employees as well so that's a whole different level.

@@Rufio1975 Good point, you should cover your saw edges as well. usually good saws come with covers. That way they don't get damaged as well.

Can you guys please put a quick video addressing the trainwreck that site has been since this owner/publisher change? I’ve got crap with Taunton and now with this new company both it seems because of past purchased content and even as an unlimited member it always treats us like we’re not. Also, now there’s a problem with the electronic download version for those of us with both paper and electronic subscriptions.

There hasn't been an ownership or publishing change at all-no new company. We switched fulfillment and customer service vendors. Something broke in the process resulting in a 3-day hiccup in our login system. It's been resolved, and you should be fine once you reset your password. If you have any issues, email me at fw-web@taunton.com and we'll get you to someone who can resolve it.

I really dislike having to turn the volume way up to hear you talk and then way back down to keep from blowing out my eardrums when the music plays. Please stop this. PLEASE!!!
