Well, atleast now I know where to start on my daughter's 2008. Great detailed video....Thanks. I hate GM fwd. I just fixed the clogged sunroof drains, and the other day the throttlebody......total junk.
Good vid. My only concern is, I got bit a few times from over heating, like pulling my heads. Long story short, it was the radiator all 3 times. You can run a garden hose through it and it flows, but they’re still clogged. But on the Arcadia I’m looking at, I think it’s coming out the weep hole and staticly drips.
So u bought a new water pump but it was the radiator ? Did u hear a squeaking noise to make u think it was the pump because I hear squeaking noise and my mechanic said the car needs a new water pump
Hi my acadia runs hotter than 210f more like 230f on the scanner. And that happenes whild im driving with the ac on. I replaced the thermostat and put new radiator dans but i notice that the fan relay 3 is melted on the base can that be a factor??
how did u realize you needed a new water pump? my wifes acadia shows temp rapidly rising but has a very small leak. just changed the thermostat and still overheating. thank you for sharing your know how

Hi , but it was good if we could see how you put back the belt , you cut off the Video recording while doing that , it seems not that easy putting it back that belt . By the way you could also change the water pump by going through the Fender ?!
I actually crawled under the car and slipped most of the belt in place while having someone hold it in place up top. The belt by yourself is rather difficult unless you zip tie it or have a helper due to it wanting to slip out of place . But other than that it was pretty easy. Does the water pump pulley rotate? I replaced my water pump and water pump pulley. It’s squealing now. My belt broke. Replaced the belt and still squealing. I see my pulley does not spin. Is it supposed to? 🤔

If coolant flow is good , level is good , rad , thrmostat coolant sensor all ruled out. My next step would be a block test . These engines have their share of issues and oil sludging as well. Thanks for watching.
Was the truck overheating ? Mine its been going little bit over normal temperture even that already change the termostat Do you think i need to replace the water pump ?
It depends on how much , some fluctuation seems to be normal with these acadia moving slightly above 210 few degrees then back down again. Unlikely the water pump is the cause typically they will just fail altogether. These engines are known for engine sludging issues. I mention this because I have seen several having heat fluctuations that were sludged. Other than that as long as the coolant is topped off at the radiator( has to be checked there not overflow) and no air in the system , all should be good. In the case of mine the pump was leaking. I just replaced the water pump and put everything back together only to realize I forgot to put loctite on the water pump bolts. Do I need to put it on those bolts?
I went 89 inch lbs . If you don't have an inch lb torque wrench I would merely tighten them with a quarter inch drive ratchet. The main thing is not to overtighten the small bolts. The pulley itself really does not require to be torqued but if you can access it 89 inch lbs would be the amount there also. Thanks for watching.

Yes . They most likely sold you a defective pump that is locked up . Exchange it and make sure the next water pump rotates freely. Hope this helps.

I change my thermostat and its still heating up i think its the water pump .... So I just hope this works
