Walk from end-to-end inside the five-car Mark V SkyTrain. Learn more about the features and how continued investments in public transit are necessary for Metro Vancouver: buzzer.translink.ca/2024/05/p...
Wow, spacious interior! It's nice to see perimeter seating (something the Mark II's and III's do not have). I hear the door indicators are similar to the Montreal's Azur metro trains, can't wait to see them in action. I wish the bike area was more visible, maybe like a bike area decal for example like on the Canada Line. Some people still don't view that designated area for bikes, they still stand the bikes in the middle of a doorway. I'm also happy they took an idea from Malaysia's Mark III trains to have a screen above the doors instead of a light-up map. The one feature that's not present on the Mark III trains is the driver seat. I'm glad they have the driver's seat on this train. I'm hoping they could also install this on the Mark III trains based on the design here. I can't wait to see these trains in service! On your Marks in V, (IV), III, II, I, GO!
Way less seating have fun standing during the ride after a long day and perimeter seating is the worse the moving trains pushes and rocks your body side to side uncomfortable ride
So few seats 🥲 as a person with a back injury but no visible impairment I don't like to take up the handicap seating but I can't stand on the trains without reinjuring myself
Nice train. Basically a Mk4 with a 5th car & some spaces for bikes, strollers & wheelchairs. Since the Mk5s are the Mk1s replacement, hopefully a trainset of Mk1s can be preserved & sent to the Halton County Radial Railway Museum in Milton, Ontario considering not only their history of the revolutionary ICTS technology but also due to the fact the Skytrains were all manufactured from Ontario & hopefully a transit fan would go as far as to actually purchasing a Mk1 car & have it sit in a field or a parking space as some transit fans on TH-cam actually have just to keep that memory alive forever
Extra space is dubious if it is just uncomfortable/unsafe places to stand in the middle of a corridor. Looks like there's less seats than Mk4... Definitely less seating than 6 Mk1 cars. Would like to see the numbers.
I don't think so, even if we needed it to stop someone from jumping, because the doors of the MarkII train don't fit MarkIII and MarkV, and MarkV has five cars
The seating arrangement for maximum number of seats that can be placed in a car, is so wasted and disappointing. 😠😭 I feel strongly it could’ve been assigned to put four more seating in the train car. Everyone wants to sit on transit not stay standing.
Less seating is the intended goal for these new trains - with more standing room, these trains can carry more people than with more seats. Unfortunately we have to trade off seats for more capacity, but with the SkyTrain having crowding issues during rush hour we really need higher-capacity trains.
I know a few people are concerned with the lack of seats as a trade off for capacity. Since these trains will likely be bookended by Mark 2’s and 3’s, I don’t think it will be too much of an issue. The mass crowds can get on the Mark V’s and those who need the extra seating could wait 3mins for the next train.
It seems that they are changing the direction of seats and adding carriages to increase the volume. As the population of the city grows, will we see heavy rail subway lines in the future?
The mark 5s may not need to be in service every day of the week, especially not weekends. I’d be happy if they were rush hour only as capacity boosters.
Looks great. Unfortunately, local governments seem to be happier letting transit turn into mobile shelter for homeless and mentally ill people, displacing the taxpayers that should be using it.
Let's just take out all the seats, who needs to sit after a long day! Not to mention seniors or people with physical disabilities that no one ever gives their seat to anyway right? Who cares, they don't matter! 😡
Nice to see the sideways seats; it’s like they wanted bits of the Mark 1 to still be around lol but that font on the destination sign on the front & back looks so small Edit: 6011-6022-6023-6024-6025??
They changed it so that train series won't barge on into the next number. Mark 3s got 400s even though they should be in the 300s because of the 2.5s, so changing it to 4 numbers was a good way to fix it. But I am pretty mad about how they used a 6 instead of a 5.

That joke you made at the end 😂

It's nice that the front "driver's" seat is back💺🚈
I agree

Nice touch having some Mark 1s parked nextdoor 👍
Once the Mark I's get retired, is there any chance that platform screen doors would be installed at major stations?
I don't think so, even if we needed it to stop someone from jumping, because the doors of the MarkII train don't fit MarkIII and MarkV, and MarkV has five cars
Forgot to add a Visable Speedometer Display up front for Public Knowledge of Details ❤

They're cool!
Though a missed opportunity on seating. There's even less than usual!
3 door sets per train should be pretty cool.

I can't stand the seating layout. To few seats and the design is terrible.
These look awesome! Very open! I dig em! 🥰

Seating looks way different from the mark 3’s
Sideways seating area they adding original skytrain features witj modern features together. Front facing seats at each end like the mk2s
Terrific!
That looks like a mark 3

Im gonna miss the mark 1s. 😭😭😭 Please let them operate longer.
I always avoid them , and wait for the next train .. lol
@@RigoStarI’ll be avoiding the mark Vs for as much as I can.
@@RigoStar don’t be scared of the mark 1s
@@RigoStar Me too whenever I'm in Vancouver
@@RigoStar when I was younger I didn’t like them because of the noise they made but now I’m sad to see them go
Which track (Line) are they going to be running on?
Expo Line, and probably also Millennium Line. But not Canada Line because the tracks are incompatible.
@@PaulStompbox The tracks are incompatible? Thought the reason BC purchased this solution was its interchangeability? Wow.

POV you're at Waterfront station
I like less seats it’s more efficient to stand and the trips on the skytrain are never that long anyways
Im more happy then sad although i miss the mark 1 cars im happy we have a new train with this new liver
Can't wait fkr the mark 1 trains 2 go

Asiajjsss
No where to sit thats great.

It should be 501-505, 506-510 and so on…

We are going have to get used to it
