- A couple days ago, a Sonic Unleashed PC port made the rounds on Twitter. Thousands immediately joined the server, in hopes of a way to play their favorite Sonic game on PC. Unfortunately, things would come out that would lead to the entire project being cancelled, and it might be for the better.

as whisper's "ex" friend i know a bunch of stuff about him, he's mainly a kid who's overhypeing everything he does for clout, he never finishes his projects and almost every time he has some sort of breakdown and ends each project, he's basically a clout chaser, i doubt he would want to spread malware tho but still he's just a clout chaser overpromising everything, i think he's overhypeing everything because he managed to boot spider-man 2 on pc once using stolen code from original people who started their own spider-man 2 pc project lmaoo, when the sonic unleashed situation was going on i was defending him in the server and stuff but not because he was right (he was never right about anything) but because i was his friend, but then i just got pissed at having to defend him after all his lies and stuff that he is no longer my friend, the only way im gonna go back to interacting with him is if he proves that he is no longer a clout chaser which i doubt will ever happen

Oh yeah that sounds alot like him. He also caused my project (Nocturno if anyone in the FN community wants to know) to be known as a “skid” thanks to the way he stole source code back in 2021. I allowed him to work on it seeing that he had some promising qualities at first but yeah.. he overly promises things and more often than not I felt disappointed finding all of this about him.
I’m not mad about it anymore though as I did manage to revive it and it’s not seen as a skid anymore but man.. those were some hard times lol

Yeah, so Whisper never changed his clout-chasing tendencies. He started an FNF mod project called "SML Movie: Resurgence," originally known as "High-Effort Shucks." This was based on SuperMarioLogan-related media and was a "passion project" of his. This eventually became "Resurgence V1," but it was promptly canceled by Whisper himself after a leaked V1 build upset him (all within the span of a month or two). He let his emotions take over and scrapped all the hard work contributed by many members. Then, he reformed the mod, taking old members from the V1 days and melding them with newer devs acquired through "application" channels in the Resurgence V2.0 server. Thus, V2 was made.
I had just started my TH-cam channel to showcase my musical work. I saw a song called "Shucks" by "Ezzythecat," and I was ecstatic to cover it. I worked long and hard on it and then uploaded it to TH-cam. It immediately blew up, and Whisper reached out to a friend of mine directly to recruit me for his mod. I thought nothing of it, as I knew nothing about the FNF community at that point. I was always active in the dev server for the first month, drawn by the prospect of seeing such a passionate group of people. I composed multiple songs and even mixed a couple of other songs for them. Whisper was almost always active because the mod had just started, and he had that initial spark to keep him going. Then, one day, a notification popped up in my DMs. He said he was contacted by "Slingmingo" and that he was given permission to "finish Aethos." "Aethos" was Sling's mod, and Sling was notorious for a lot of controversy in the FNF community. I tried to reason with Whisper, along with TJ Ghostly and a couple of others who wish to remain anonymous. I assessed every angle and was highly skeptical that Sling was trying to pull a fast one on us. But Whisper and I compromised. He took Sling's deal but didn't combine Aethos with Resurgence (this was to ensure Sling didn't get what he wanted). For some reason, he became "buddy-buddy" with Sling out of nowhere, almost as if he was awestruck by the prospect of getting the very mod that inspired his next project.
But then... I noticed something. He started receding. He got quiet over the next few days. He became inexplicably inactive. After those days passed, he said he wanted to invite me and several others to a "new project" of his. And as you can guess, it was the "Aethos" mod that Sling had passed to Whisper. A few more days went by, and the Resurgence dev server was practically silent (except for the hard workers crafting Whisper's vision). What did I see when I joined his Aethos server? He was constantly messaging, monitoring people's progress. His passion had visibly shifted, and we could all tell. I added a few trusted friends into a group DM, and we all vented about Whisper since we didn't like his recent neglect of our team. This, however, was only one of Whisper's true colors, as we started to notice. As people have pointed out in previous comments on this video, he was passionate about Aethos for a couple of weeks, and then... he started a 24-hour project with a few people.
Keep in mind, Whisper would never message Resurgence devs about anything other than what Aethos members had done (which goes to show how he lost his spark for Resurgence). When we brought up his neglect, he would either melt down, scoff it off, or pretend to engage with us only to pivot the topic to whatever other clout-grabbing project he was hyper-fixating on. And guess what? He promised to "make Aethos a one-shot mod and finally lay it to rest" before he ever started the 24-hour project. But as soon as Aethos gained traction, he backed off from this statement and said, "I'm thinking of making a V2 if this gets enough clout," or something along those lines. After he finished the 24-hour project (which was a Baldi mod, by the way), he "accidentally left a screenshot that hinted at a V2" in the files. People "found it," so he made a tweet that basically confirmed he was planning a V2 of this Baldi mod. Keep in mind how much he was neglecting Resurgence and, by this point, Aethos too. Then, he did something that hurt one of my friends personally (which will not be described here but will be detailed in a document later). That set me off, and my friends and I made a plan to cut him off some days later. I DMed him, saying this:
"Alright, your vagueness as a director is what has made me decide to do this. I hope you're ready.
Whisper,
This is a matter that needs to be addressed immediately. You've repeatedly used your emotions to manipulate and mistreat others within the server and in DMs on several occasions, and I've had to confront you about it multiple times. This behavior is unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it any longer. I also firmly disagree with the way you're directing this mod and want to see a change in your directing style. Therefore, it is our position that I, along with Fronnie, TJ, Dave, Jack, and Zamn, will leave the mod and withdraw all our assets unless you step down from your role as director. You've abused your authority for too long, and if this continues, you'll lose much more than you realize. If you refuse to step down from your role in Resurgence, I will leave all mods and cut ties with you. Others will likely do the same. My goal here is to prevent further harm to anyone involved."
He freaked out, and he demoted our co-director, me, and everyone else involved in our plan right before we left. I sent my last-minute goodbye, and I left. My friends followed one by one. He "apologized" in the announcements channels of both the public and dev servers. A newly-acquired friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, has sent me this video and other screenshots of his past to corroborate our feelings about him as a person. That is why I'm leaving this comment here. I am telling you all my story in hopes that nobody makes the mistake of trusting his word as we did. We were conned, and we had no idea of his past usernames and identities. I'm still trying to screenshot practical evidence from Discord DMs and compile evidence from others. But with this video, I think our case is well solidified now. We stand united in believing that Whisper was always a clout-chasing person. Thank you for this video, as it will be key to figuring out how deep this mystery goes.

this whole shit happened when i was in school too. the fact that an xbox 360 game was allegedly going to get a decomp when n64 games take years was actually the biggest eyebrow raise
The PC port for Crash Team Racing (1999) is about 4 years in, and still has a way to go. Sonic Unleashed on ps3/360 ported to pc would take a SERIOUSLY long time

@thaddayyus Actually the exe + overlay files (like dll but older) have about 100,000 lines of code total, which took 4 years to reverse and port. Compared to Doom 3 in 2006, having 600k and unreal engine having millions of lines of code, Sonic Unleashed is somewhere between that, not including OOP bloating the hell out of assembly with templating, it'd take a really long time to port sonic unleashed to pc. Even PS2 games that HAVE debug symbols are still too hard to port, let alone sonic unleashed with no symbols

People were doubting they're 16, which is funny to me because his last reply on Twitter is telling someone "That's in the past, grow up." for informing someone else that this is PC port was never gonna happen a day after this all went down. Yeah, him being 16 is the one thing I don’t doubt.
Seems like they were open about V1 being xenia (the fast way to play unleashed on PC) and V2 being the full port (the very slow way). It's just a kid who decided to start up an ambitious project.
Whatever environment they live in that made them say insensitive stuff is their problem. I hope this results in the best outcome for everyone

let me tell you something, release a build of an open source project with modifications and keep that closed source, then try and decompile a heavily object oriented C++ game. Once you know the attack vectors of the first and how hard the second is, it doesn't take a genius to realize that what this kid is doing is more likely than not malicious than it is safe. Had he had his Xenia modifications publicly available for everyone to see and at least had some progress on the decomp before announcing "hey I'm making a decomp!!!", then he maybe would've been more trusted. But his past behavior and shown actions clearly indicate something else.
Wasnt whisper the guy who tried porting the leaked PC build of spiderman 2 but failed? After he left, a group called SM2PC Brazil successfully ported the game almost flawlessly.
If I may give my two cents, as a Sonic Unleashed modder myself?
What he's trying to do for the decomp, as stated excellently in the video, would be impossible currently and in the next few years. The SM64 decomp took around 2 years to decompile with a TEAM, which was a game written in C or a language similar to C.
Imagine doing that for a 7th Gen console game written with classes and objects, encrypted by Xbox or Playstation, and a game that's 20 MEGABYTES large? And all by one 16 year old? Yes... it seems quite implausible. You'd be way more successful by making a PC port from scratch.
Not to mention for V1, he wasn't even aware of majority of issues with Xenia (Canary), saying these common issues "didn't appear on their PC". Perhaps there might be some validity to the V1 Xenia modification, but it seems very suspicious.
But while I do wish they can achieve the goals they want to, they should face accountability for their actions, lying about a 15 yo game that desperately needs a PC.
Plus, it's an insult to my fellow modders who work their butts off to make incredible mods and get very few praise, while a random bloke is getting much popularity for a fake decompilation that he hasn't even started!
In any case, this is a solid video that goes into the matter pretty well! I just wanted to share my two cents.

To be fair regarding the decomp, most of that 7 gigabytes is made up of assets, not code. He wouldn't have to decompile things like level geometry, textures, audio files, etc. since the formats for those things are already well documented. Unknown and undocumented asset types would definitely require some reverse engineering however. I don't think a SU decomp is as difficult as claimed (as in I don't think it would take multiple decades to do), but its certainly not a task for one person, and would still likely take several years to complete even with a team of highly experienced people. Porting the decomp to PC would also take several years of work to reach a playable state.
@@GANONdork123 That is a very solid point. It would probably have to do with unused assets, although it might also include the code for enemies, objects, etc.
Most of the #ar files contain data scripts, terrain files, some models files, and so on. The ar files contain all the textures, models, animations, etc.
It is definitely a daunting task for one person, and I do wish I could work with my peers to make it happen. Although for now, I'll stick to what I CAN do.

even for a fully modified version of xenia made only to run unleashed, it would need a full team of dedicated ppl to find and fix all the issues the game has and that many ppl in the past still cant figure it out why.

The sad part is that nonsense like this is just going to discourage actual attempts at improving Xenia for Unleashed and/or making a real decomp(even if it is going to take 30+ years, we have to start somewhere) because it will look like another hoax to the public and get less support until it is already close to completion.
8:03 This is a gooooood piece of advice to keep in mind. I personally have major issues finishing up projects I started until years later and I eventually just stopped making a big deal about it, sometimes even trying to avoid mentioning them at all until they are close to done or fully done. And even when I end up spilling the beans too early, it is when I am already a significant portion along the way. And well, my personal motivation went way up because I suddenly no longer have the pressure of having promised the world before I even started assembling it.

My buddy SF Productions went on his server during this whole fiasco and asked him how he did this. Simple, polite, just asking for more information. He was silent for a few minutes and then posted a block of random physics code. iirc SF was then kicked from the server but I don't remember.

but if people want a 1:1 PORT of the game, not some mod for Generations, then I got nothin' against 'em
I mean sure, if you only care about the daytime stages it's 'good enough', I suppose. The Unleashed Project is, at best, just 1/3 of Sonic Unleashed as a full game, though. Most people, including me, that want a full SU port is because they actually want the full experience of it. Not just a 3rd of it. Which is kind of the point of a full port.
SEGA really needs to just pull a Lost World again and rerelease the game on PC. I wouldn't even mind if it added little to nothing, it'd just be a convenient way to play Unleashed again!

Fr tho I saw the tweet and I was like "Oh forreal? someones trying to port SU to PC? cool I'll join" Then I joined looked around and saw that it was a xeina build and was kinda let down but I was like okay maybe it can still be good, I saw everyone in a VC so I just went on to do other things till I woke up the next day with a ping in that server saying that the whole server was locked and the project was canned and was just like "Okay well that was a waste of my time" lmao

This video is crazy I did not expect Array to get himself a video like this man this is gold. I have known the guy for a long while and had also worked with him on a few projects a while ago of course I have not talked to him much but I have indeed been checking up on what he does once in a while. there was this one time when he was a part of this old Roblox client project and he took over the entire Discord server because the owner for some dumb reason gave him full ownership of the server it was funny and then he also did an expose video on the same old Roblox client project man that was crazy I also have the video saved. well can't wait to see more content relating to him 🤣🤣🤣
The real question is why would anyone a PC Port of unleashed of all games? Unleashed is amazing looking and plays fine. Give it to something like Heroes Shadow or GameGear/Megadrive games.
Because those are VERY easely emulable with only a very week pc needed, Sonic Unleashed is only on PS3 and 360, two consoles VERY hard to emulate (mostly the PS3) and who needs beefy PC to actually run correctly
This is quite crazy considering the current build of Xenia Canary can play Sonic Unleashed from start to finish on the Vulkan renderer.

I will say as a teenager with a huge project surrounding the mario 64 pc port (mario 64 ds remastered) I do see the side effects of publicizing something so huge before having major progress, its been years since iv started and I barely have the vs mode complete (which means its near launch sometime soon).

I literally bought sonic generations on steam so I could download the unleashed project, then download the unleashed HUD then the voices and effects and boom I’m playing the best part of unleashed on my computer already, now I would love to see someone actually de comp all of unleashed on pc, that would be freaking amazing, I can see like 15 plus modders doing this

The fact that this dude was legit acting like he was gonna port a 7gb Xbox 360 game to PC all on his own in a short period of time when 7mb N64 games take years to be ported by full ass teams of people is just bizarre. Like, we don’t even know if a community-made PC port of Unleashed would be possible given our current tools, let alone if it would be possible to make in as short a time as Whisper was seemingly suggesting. If we’re gonna get a port anytime soon, then it’s gonna have to come from Sega itself.

I’m not a sonic modder but I do mod Kirby and some other Nintendo games
People do this all the time for clout and because they do not know any better
For example, people will upload a fake screenshot of buttons being different colors than the switch controller which must mean there will be a “switch 2” version
However this can easily be proven false when looking at the files and their alpha and color channels
While others will upload an entire rom and pass it off as a mod or ask for the most outrageous thing like a 7 player return to Dreamland.
People need to realize that there’s a whole lot more to modding. And that doing this stuff can easily be disproven
given how powerful modern PC's are, just emulate it, or get an actual PS3, a Super Slim is like $50-60 used anyways, a 360 should be cheaper, and they're easy to mod so you can get the game for free, I thinks it's cheap used too tho
tho I don't get the want to play it anyways, I played it myself and the game is honestly boring, I remember having fun with the Java phone official port, without ever having touched the console versions, so imagine my surprise when I played the actual "good" big version for me to having had more fun playing a crusty pixel art 2D version that runs at like 15 FPS

Oh hey i was in that server, i got to ask him to give me a screenshot of the spider man 2 pc port's file structure and he gave me a random file and not what i asked for. That and other stuff i asked made me more skeptical about it. What a ride
About the Spiderman 2 PC port thing, that PC gaming twitter account did have working builds of it on their Discord, but "working" is pretty generous considering it's like 300GB and runs terribly.
just gotta add in cause i was around for the start of this project, whisper announced it in the pc focus discord with a post in the announcement channel saying “if this gets 100 👍 reactions i’ll do a sonic unleashed pc port” after the post got to this he made the pc port discord and later announced it was just a xenia build. everyone was kinda sceptical due to the whole SM2 PC debacle, which we were proven right to be. whisper is just a clout chaser, he’s pulled this shit not once but twice now just ignore everything him

i remember when the sm2 pc port server was there and the claimed he was going to make the port. Not going to lie , i don't know anything about porting/decomps/making a game from source code. The only thing i remember is the port was cancel , then back again. someone said that it is probably fake , he was banned and he would say that he doesnt have the motivation to continue and doesn't want a target on his back. It was an on and off thing until he deleted the discord server.
he seems to be saying he will be making huge projects alone , when called out about it probably being fake, he said that everyone is toxic and runs away to an other community

Thanks for shining light on this matter, I aint EVER seen this dude ever and I genuinly got confused and thought he was genuine and stuff, the day I joined his discord was really late at night and the next day seeing his whole server nuked and seeing general chat flooded with racial slurs (not from his account) i genuinly thought people were trying to effectively ruin what he was doing. Honestly now fully knowng what the hell was happening... Screw that guy the hell?!?
I unfortunately was one of the people who were in that VC with Whisper when he said the N Word and after that point there many things that happened behind the scenes but it was a constant cycle of him starting a project, Overhyping it and then quitting it the next day. But when he came into my dms talking about this quote on quote "Port Of Unleashed" That's when I figured something like this would happen. Honestly at the end of the day, a video explaining about this was the right thing to do.

Pretty decent chance Sega does an official Unleashed remaster in the not too distant future anyway. It's probably the next Sonic remaster after Generations, if you ask me
I mean, we can run Unleashed on Xbox one and above too, since some 360 games are able be ran on future gen xbox consoles
I know Whisper/Array0x/Fexor/Disxc since august 2023 and I can confirm that almost all the projects he had just got some work and then got randomly got abandoned saying “I lost the src and I have to redo everything” or “I will work on this later”. He had some cool projects, both for OG Fortnite and in making some new games ( I can confirm some had already results, like one with the marshmallow event on 7.30 that usually had broken music and other stuff not working properly and another that was like some sort of game for doki doki high school ) but he never ended up finishing them…
From what he told me, he was/is also dealing with some important stuff regarding his mental health and thats probably why he is in such search of attention. Either way, he always seemed nice and I don’t recall hearing him saying slurs in group or private calls. Hopefully this informations can help understand the whole thing

That the goal of modifying Xenia was to help gain an understanding of How it Runs the game within Xenia to try to figure out if it's possible to get the raw data that Xenia outputs from running the game and use that to try to build a decompiler and through that understanding develop a full version and the discords goal was to try and gather people who might be able to help make it possible
Tldr it might be possible but I highly doubt it beyond just getting the raw output of Xenia turning the game rom into something it can run (Decryption) and trying to force it to run natively (which would require obscene Amounts of effort to on the fly recompile code

This person joined a PvZ server I moderate asking if they should port PvZ3 to PC. Only took them an hour of playing to scrap that port.
The only thing we can think of as a PC port (at least for now) is Saints Row 2 with all of its DLC, because Thomas Jepp (a.ka Minimaul) screwed over the community and Mike Watson (a.k.a IdolNinja). We're tired of waiting for the actual PC patch for that game to show up, and Xenia is the only way we can play the game with the DLC.

To be honest, that's just a testament to the Sonic fanbase's willingness to be delusional enough to trust the first person promising Unleashed natively on PC. People REALLY want this game on PC and will go to extreme lengths to have it it seems lol.

Yeah, I can’t say I didn’t do that either. I tried to make a PC Port for Yo-Kai Watch 1. I thought it was as simple as changing the mobile port file from APK to EXE. Boy was I wrong. But at least the admitted it.

dude you forgot to mention whisper ran eon. like eon worked pretty well and had multiple devs and such he just done leaked it was skidded and leaked the custom and skidded codes. seems only the launcher was skidded. he did program many new things that has never been seen in the chapter 2 season 2 modding community but he leaked it all then he quit eon made it dramatic eon tried to keep going but ultimately failed

This is just too insane and unbelievable to me, I used to be a moderator (or a staff member anyway) for whisper's deleted Spiderman 2 PC build discord server and seeing all of this makes me question why I was the most active mod there, this feels like a ballistic missile just launched on me all of a sudden, I genuinely thought there were actual snitches who reported whisper and making his and his family lives in danger because of a comic superhero game being shared online, and even before the deletion of the server, this project seemed like it was going to be one of the greatest things to happen when the supposed download links release which they never did...

Really unecessary in my opinion if you have xenia canary and a few mods for the game like the AMD grass fix it will not even crash a few times and have stable 60 fps add in a controller and boom theres your pc port of sonic unleashed
Eh, can't blame the kid for trying. I remember announcing mods I was "going to do" with no prior technical expirience. Hope the kid learns a lesson from this and decides to just start small and focus on mods and stuff. Good luck to him.

The Sonic community is very susceptible to falling for bait like this because most of the people contained here are not that well-versed with even a fraction of what goes into the mods, projects and fangames that the dedicated community makes on a near daily basis. I only have two years of Java/C+ coding experience and I can already tell you that something as ambitious as reverse-engineering a mid 7th-gen object based game when even the dedicated emulators of that era are still very spec-heavy and underdeveloped (the games are mostly playable but still need a very good PC to run well) seems...daunting to say the least. Definitely possible, and hopefully our best technical minds can pool their heads together to make it happen, but it's not something you'd see happen in 1-2 years time for sure.
