    Most of the times I get distracted it's not because I want to check my phone or anything, it's because I'm daydreaming. I daydream almost the entire day while I'm doing other tasks, and it's really hard to tune out of my thoughts. There's just a ton of ideas and imaginary situations going through my head. Anyone else has the same problem?

      me as well, but I also have concentration problems these days bc I'm an INFJ with ADD. Not saying you have ADHD/ADD but they do cause this and to be in your head a lot. I'm waiting to get treated for that one day, but yeah, goes to show we're not all built the same.

      YES. same for me. I rarely pause and realize how much better I feel when I catch myself swimming in all the various thoughts, ideas, possibilities!! (imaginary situations) on my 'to do someday', sometime list Thanks for asking Best Wishes your way to connecting with your aims! Maybe try voluntary little pauses for silence - and awareness of the present moment sensations :)

    Just like the other video, I bursted into tears again. Thank you for pointing out that rebelling against the hard no is a reward for the brain. I feel deeply seen and understood. Rebelling against the hard no has been running my life. Thank you for helping me get out of this. And I never developed the habit of sitting down and riding my emotional wave and asking myself what is bothering me and taking care of myself. You have affirmed that all the stuff I do in therapy is super helpful and I will keep doing it. Thank you thank you thank you.

    I would argue that procrastination is more often caused by overwhelm and aversion to the work, rather than mere distraction.

  • @ramsonutube

    This is the single most critical concept/technique to be mastered if one wants to come out of negative habits, not just the phone addiction. All other addictions are a means for escaping from uncomfortable emotions/sensations. Overeating, alcohol, smoking....pleasurable escapes from negative emotions like loneliness, boredom, stress, anger, jealousy, fears of all kinds.
    Through 10 minutes rule and body/sensation awareness technique, one can gain control over the negative emotions and overcome the addictions.
    Don't blame the external world for your sufferings. Master the internal world and all distractions will succumb.

    The key to reducing procrastination is negotiation... you have to negotiate with yourself. If I do this X, then how about you get this Y afterwards? How does that sound? If not, what about Z? Okay cool, that sounds good, let's do it. Then nested with in that negotiation is developing a benefit and cost analysis that considers the potentiality of the positive and negative consequences (as well as what's in between) across time; in the short term, medium term and long term. Then as you aim for that, your thoughts and emotions begin to align themselves toward that goal... and then as you explore and trudge along, you encounter new obstacles and/or pathways forward and then you note them down and carefully make any adjustments to keep your journey afloat. Then you continually see, as time passes, whether or not it is worthwhile pursuing - you'll know internally if it's heading towards a dead end where you feel weaker as it leads to an unsustainable place... or a pathway that expands and/or recedes in a way that makes you feel stronger and that it leads somewhere more sustainable and solid that you and others can live upon. You'll see a pattern developing and so can others if you consult with them. Then you do this for any need (that you've determined also in detailed analysis beforehand) that requires attention for maintenance or improvement.

    Sir u r great but i could not get your point. What exactly are these 10 minutes for? Thinking or working? And what to do after those 10 minutes? Kindlly reply. Coz i have already wasted 80% of my life.

      U have to do ur work for that 10 min. If u came across any other thought just tell urself ‘Not Yet’ I will see u in 10 min. But after 10 min u will find that that thought not useful for now. So, u will let it go and again focus on ur work.

    Isn’t 10 minutes of sitting there doing self talk itself seriously distracting? You are still not doing the work in that time.

    • @Dragonfire7777777
      @Dragonfire7777777 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think (I may very well be wrong), that the point is, we're in self-talk mode (which in the end, is helpful) as opposed to mindless procrastination mode (which is unhelpful)...? But yeah, I hear you that we're still not skiing the thing we're supposed to be doing🙃
