Archie Smith Interview about 1st Winston Cup 1949 Nascar Racing, Drag Racing and Bowman Grey racing

Archie trades 1963 Corvette for Cole Milling building in Denton NC to start first Skating Ring in 1963. Archie describes his Nascar experience, Drag Racing and racing at Bowman Grey Stadium. Archie Smith is a former NASCAR driver from Denton, NC. He competed in two Sprint Cup Series events in his career, recording top-ten finishes both times. Both of his races came in 1949, when Smith debuted in the series' inagural event at Charlotte. He ran well in that event, coming home with a career-best 6th effort. Although he was not able to improve on that later in the year at Martinsville, Smith still drove home with a solid 10th place finish. Marshall Smith is also featured in interview. 3/24/2012
