From what I've read the rules state that there must be a dead stop on the chest and both elbows must lock out simultaneously, I think the latter rule was the reason so many were disallowed
@@LucaBrasi0 while bench pressing you usr your legs to drive the bar off your chest, without legs all your power and speed must come out of yout upperbody, which is incredibly more difficuly
guys, its frustrating to watch, but its all about standardization. Obviously these guys have no real trouble moving the weight, but to avoid cheating and bouncing they have to be strict. The judges arent being mean, just accurate. It must be hard for them to tell a disabled person they failed a lift!
It seems like they have to make a noticeable stop at the bottom (can't immediately press) and must accelerate the bar upwards throughout the motion (instead of just man moding it out). It is a "power lift" instead of a "strength lift" so the motion itself should be steady or even gain speed evenly. All that being said I still think it's bull, these guys can clearly lift far more than what they are doing. They are all beasts and extremely impressive.
Why did the Brazilian competitor's bench press get counted as a no-lift? He got the weight down and pushed it up without problems instead of requiring the weight to be pulled by a spotter.
I thought that the couple of guys that had the no lifts was due to not pausing. They seemed all legit to me if the pause was not part of the criteria in this competition
I'm having trouble as well but it seems to be a combination of time and straightness of the arms. *It seems to be the length of time it's motionless on the chest as well.
How the fuck are some no lifts ?!! You clearly see them lifting it up by them selfs ? Seems to me that lifting it back up has to be straight up , that is dumb , they are clearly lifting the weight ...
No lift, No lift, No lift...........WTF? These guys are benching 3X their body weight. I can understand rules are rules..... what am I missing? Is it the timing of their lift? Completion of lift (straight arms?).....
Hi Seth. Here you can learn more about the rules and regulations regarding Para powerlifting and the competition: www.paralympic.org/powerlifting/classification Hope this helps!
Do these judges know anything about powerlifting?
I have a friend who is a parapowerlifter and It’s a totally different sport, a lot of things don’t make sense in the rules IMO
0:56 looks like the Mexican Brian Shaw
Brian Shawerma

They aren't able to use leg drive. Must be so much harder.
Yeah that's what makes it so
much more impressive to me!
They much stronger than.full body lifters
Leg drive? Does it mean like Leg support on ground?

@@tijnaltena5718 I don’t know how to leg drive so I bench 180 lbsg(14yo)

Te mamaste
Team no calves
How is it no lift? it looks perfectly executed please someone explain highly appreciated
but they don't give the "press" command, it's nonsensical to expect them to pause
@SuperUsefulMan I thought it was about the pause but it was obvious that non of them paused
SuperUsefulMan the Russian paused quite long. Considering there’s no “press” command, just doesn’t make sense
The Brazilian though...def not a pause
They have to lift that within 3 second

I thought that the couple of guys that had the no lifts was due to not pausing. They seemed all legit to me if the pause was not part of the criteria in this competition
What are the rules? a lot of these lifts seem good, but get NO LIFT...?
Hany Abdel Hady hero Congratulations
Castillo Castillo, I guess you wouldn't have to worry about whether the form is first or last name first
Cant find differences between good and wrong lifts, does anybody know?

Wtf if i ducktape my legs on a bench then every lift would be easy
amputate your legs and then do these bench press
Why are they having their floppy legs strapped down? I don't get it. What a freakshow.
