Just me, the car, the tools, the 2 parts and 3 cold beers! I'm in VA and was quoted $400 plus for this project from numerous mechanics. It cost me $65. You guys are phenomenal!

after watching a few of your videos on fixing the interior of the car door i fixed mine. i have never fixed anything on a car in my life but i did this by my self with only your video!!!!! thank you so much!! fan for life!!
Thank you for this video it was a great help . I was able to get the actuator out without disconnecting the rods and removing the door lock mechanism . I just disconnected the power and pried it out .
Awesome just installed these today, took me about an hour in total only because the yellow clips were difficult. If you have trouble with the clips spray some wd40 on it and if that doesn't work try prying it with a long thin screwdriver. I can finally use my key fob, thank you!
VERY helpful. I installed both sides using this video for help! one note: the driver's side is very similar. On this model Mustang, the driver side door has a keyhole, though, so there is one more metal rod to be unlatched from the plastic housing. You actually have to remove the rod from the end behind they keyhole rather than at the actuator, though. It's a "V" shaped plastic housing you squeeze the metal rod out of. Thanks so much! I barely ever even use screwdrivers but did this myself!

Everything went perfectly - I usually get stumped by some hidden connector, or how to actually disassemble something. This video got me through the entire process without a hitch ! (And by the way, 1A Auto was VERY prompt in sending me out the new Lock Actuator - THANKS !!!)
Just used this video to install my 02 mustang door actuator. Worked like a charm. Only thing you were missing in the video was the beer. Beer makes working on your car much easier.
There may be a rod or latch that connects to it. What you could do is remove the door panel on the other side of the car (if you're really stumped) and you can see what connects to it. Hope this helps you out.
It might be a bad door jamb switch. You may want to see if it's acting up. It's located on the door jamb, and turns the light off and on when the door's open or closed.

Do you guys by any chance sell the other part attached to the actuator. The door latch thing. The locks work well on mine but the door won't close because that little hook thing is loose.
What would be the cause on 97 mustang you unlock with the power locks and you pull the outside handle it locks you can physically see the lock go down but not with the inside handle also cant turn the key in the keyhole and when you have the door open and its unlocked it will not stay shut. After opening and spraying the latch down with WD40 it would shut but still the same problems. Noticed when you unlock pull the handle and it goes down you can lock and unlock and it works only for that time
I have a couple of questions, my 94 mustang doesn't have power door locks and I don't know if it already has the wiring to make it work. So what parts do I need other than the actuator?
can the car still lock with out the actuator ? we recently got a 94 mustang gt and the key wont open the doors. the key wont even turn. the car will unlock from the inside so i know the locks work but for some reason the key wont open the doors.do i need to get an fob? or can i just remove the actuator?

Hi I have 2000 Ford Mustang and my problem is my door locks move but not enough to go down or up but you can clearly hear it trying to move up or move down, but it never actually moves. My windows and my side view mirrors work fine. It seems to not work on either door. I've changed the fuse and nothing works there's power just maybe not enough? Help !
I replaced my driver side and the door lock rod fell off before I was able to see how it when on at the bottom can’t seem to figure it out this would be the ride to the key hole not the inside lock handle
Driver side door lock wouldn’t work with key fob, but passenger side did. Had to lock/unlock drivers door with the key. Got a new door lock actuator, installed applied power and nothing. Passenger side still works. Fuse is good. Any ideas?

Tried but the replacement latch I have to put in has none of the electrical crap to plug into. My original latch is destroyed and this new one I guess isn't for automated systems. Screw it I'm taking it to the shop I stopped caring about the point I removed the panel

I would suggest checking that out works before putting the door panel back on. But I don't really know if you can.

Make sure the battery in the key FOB is good for starters. It could also be that the key tumbler's frozen if the key will not turn in it.

you will have to test the connection to see if you are getting 12 volts and if you are then most likely the issue is related to the actuator itself

1998 Mustang. Driver's door. I bought a new actuator plug it up and pressed lock and unlock. Only the passenger side works. Any suggestions. Thank you

I know this is really old but can anybody tell me what the part is that holds the latch to strike plate? Mine will not hold the strike plate?
Good video but couldn't remove the 3 torx bolts out. They actually bent the torx head.
Use impact torx bits. The cheap bits will twist and not work since the bolts are thread locked in.

I changed my Actuator on the driver side door but I cant figure out where the key lock reconnects inside. When I turn my key it doesn't catch.

Even tried to find a diagram with no luck everyone does the passenger side so I can’t get a reference as to what side is up or down
