it really bothers me how a lot of the time you dont even rev past 4k.... Like.... You're literally driving a car that's stock and brand new and you're breaking it in the first 1000 miles. I know a lot of people like to shift way before redline cause for some cars the torque drops a lot after a certain amount of rpms (well at least in real life).... But you're never even reaching peak torque.... which is almost always at around 5k... but you want to be past that so that when you shift up you're back at peak torque again.

Rally simulator fans have DiRT Rally series, while people who prefer more arcadey rallying will have the DiRT series. Combining the 2 in DiRT 4 just didn't work, because simulator fans felt the game was too arcadey, while arcade style fans felt it was too difficult to master. Of course it takes more resources from Codemasters to develop 2 separate games, but at least they can sell more copies while keeping everyone happy.
dirt 2 was the best imho but in some areas dirt 3 was better. such as the following: the cat and mouse game, where you would beat up someone in mini was hella fun. Also the infected mode had some rofl moments there was more content in the mp side of things. so in sp dirt 2 hands down but mp dirt 3 by a mile. I tried em all over the years (except dirt and dirt showdown) so this is my opinion: - Dirt 2: amazing arcade game, great graphics still for today's standars (I destroyed the xbox 360 disc for how much i've played it); - Dirt 3: was okay, but I was expecting way more but still wasn't as fun as dirt 2; - Dirt Rally: an amazing rally simulation experience, ok graphics even on ultra. Great handling, great copilot, just a great simulator overall; - Dirt 4: I'm still playing it in simulation and this is what I have to say: an amazing game, that stimulates you to go on and play. Difficult as dirt rally, some stages even more. Finally better graphics (still not up to dirt 2 even on ultra), finally 270 degrees steering (with joypad), better handling, more punishing if you don't hold the car well (i'm playing with 91% difficulty, without any abs, traction control or hud, arrows etc and it's tough). I really don't like the copilots. I'm italian and I've tried the british one, the american one and the italian one.. The italian one confuses my head, the british one speaks to quietly, the american is ok but still not up to dirt rally.. She sometimes forgets to give me indications, and when in the straights with light corners (righ or left 6) she say those corners to me super fast and just confuses me so I just focus on the big ones (5, 4 etc) Landrush just make me swear and rally cross is boring, to me anyway. Most of the rally stages I see "copy and paste" of some sections.. Identical copies of groups of corners. I've seen this in sweden, wales, australia. They nailed the weather this time, really amazing.. This is my opinion ;)
Dirt Rally.... a simulator? I would say it's far from being a sim... especially for rwd cars. The back end just isn't lively enough for it to be realistic.... That being said it is still in my opinion the best game in the series. (even though i only own the first Dirt, and Rally)
DiRT 1 was great to play, lot of fun and some cutting edge graphics for the time. DiRT 2 also great and a lot of fun, plus longer career mode and less HDR/bloom overuse. DiRT 3, a good game, graphics and lighting stepped up again. IMO all the Gymkhana should have been a DLC option (which I would've passed up). DiRT Showdown was Codemasters thinking they would make more money out of a "Flatout" type of game. The Gymkhana invasion of DiRT 3 should have been a warning of what was coming. Showdown is like the Tokyo Drift of the DiRT franchise. DiRT Rally is back on form, even the title suggests Codemasters saying "hey, it's actually a rally game again!" DiRT 4 I've not yet played, still working my way through "Rally". From videos I've seen however, the graphics look questionable, in particular some of the foliage looks a decade or more old graphically.

DiRT 2 is the best one because it's not just physics and graphics, but it has the best gameplay ever. It had so many series like buggy, baja, and others, even though I already played DiRT 1, 2, and 4
gameplays n emulator you just need a wheel pedals / shifter + handbrake. Then practice a bit and they become easier. I used to be horrible at Dirt rally. Watch a few rally racing vids and apply those techniques and done. You will improve.
I wish DiRT 5 would bring both Battersea and Yokohama Docks back. Those maps were insanely fun to play in multiplayer. Also, outbreak and transporter need to make a comeback
Usually the early shifting happens when you have it in automatic. When I started with dirt rally I had it on automatic and the sifting was almost identical to his. Maybe it was in auto too eheh

I'm really liking Dirt4 and I've just picked up Dirt Rally, I've still got to play Dirt Rally more. I'm quite far into Dirt4 and it feels brilliant, especially the Welsh stages, big props to them for adding our Welsh forests so accurately.
Did anybody else actually LIKE DiRT Showdown? Granted I beat the entire game in a day, but I really enjoyed it. I’ve always felt that Codemasters could make an amazing demolition derby game with the right budget and vision behind it, seeing as they’ve got access to what I’d say is the best racing game engine that’s available.
DiRT 2 still looks phenomenal to this day! The driving was at it's best in DiRT 3 but 2 was the overall better game imo and Showdown was meh..heard great things about DiRT Rally but haven't tried anything since Grid Autosport

Until they releases Dirt 5, Dirt 2 will always be on the top of the List and we hope someday they remaster's the game because it deserves... Still playing it till our day and still enjoying every single second of it (P.S: I only play Dirt games thats why i have the right to judge fairly) never missed one and never will but hope to have one day a good one as #Dirt2

I like Dirt Rally, so realistic. sadly the pace note cannot be adjusted. I hate when the navigator overconfident about the corner and ended up hitting giant rock or tree.

Dirt rally will always be the best. Dirt 2 is just a arcade game that really doesn't feel like a rally game. I also hate how they went from Colin Mcrae to Ken Block. I have absolutely nothing against Ken Block but I just think that the change from Colin to Ken wasn't the right change. They should've maybe change to Kris Meeke.

I got Dirt 3 for 1.01$ on Instant Gaming yesterday, I play over 3 hours of this game and I can say it's really good for the price, I have my old wheel that my parents gave me when I was 7 or 8, now it have a use for me, best $ ever use !
I bought dirt showdown recently and it's amazing and still looks great considering how old it is (all dirt games for that matter) ... It's like if flatout and burnout had a baby. This game is what flatout should have been.

Out of the 3 old Dirt games (1-3), Dirt2 is the best by far when speaking solely about the rally (can`t say much about the other disciplines in Dirt2 and 3, as i don`t give a damn and try my best to avoid them). Dirt2 has a much more immersive feel with a much more refined control over the cars to it, and unlike racing in the two other games, it doesn`t feel artificial. Playing Dirt3 directly after Dirt2 will leave you with the feeling of simplified and dumbed down controls and physics. I didn`t play the two newer games yet, but i`m really excited to try them out, especially Dirt Rally.
D4 is fun but not enough contents, just 5 rallies. And stage generator is not good enough. But graphics is good and general feel of the cars is nice though there are no wrc cars, r5 are the strongest. And obviously there is useless WRX
D4 just doesn't have much going for it. I'll admit the management was pretty fun but the game lacked style and the graphics were honestly a step back from what 3 and showdown was leading it up to
Well, to be honest, the damn game didnt even come with simulation phyiscs at launch, the landrush mode feels tacky and garbagey, the rally cars feel stuck to the ground and the grip loss doesnt feel progressive ot feels like youre driving on soap, the only cars that feel even remotely good are the rallyx supercars.

I'm really liking Dirt4 and I've just picked up Dirt Rally, I've still got to play Dirt Rally more. I'm quite far into Dirt4 and it feels brilliant, especially the Welsh stages, big props to them for adding our Welsh forests so accurately.

Did anybody else actually LIKE DiRT Showdown? Granted I beat the entire game in a day, but I really enjoyed it. I’ve always felt that Codemasters could make an amazing demolition derby game with the right budget and vision behind it, seeing as they’ve got access to what I’d say is the best racing game engine that’s available.
It was a really good game. A true successor for FlatOut games but in DiRT series.
I loved Dirt 2!!! My favorite of the series. I would consider playing it again if Microsoft would add it to their backwards compatibility program.

Tbh, dirt 2 was the most fun for me, but dirt rally is definitely the best rally game so far(dirt rally 2.0 now)
DiRT 2 still looks phenomenal to this day! The driving was at it's best in DiRT 3 but 2 was the overall better game imo and Showdown was meh..heard great things about DiRT Rally but haven't tried anything since Grid Autosport
Dirt 2 is fun, that's all. Dirt 3 have better graphics but it's less fun after some time playing.

Ryan Fanstone dirt 1 was a simulation at its time, dirt 2 was more arcade but still had aspects of simulation, dirt 3 was in between arcade and simulation, dirt showdown was just arcade, dirt rally was full simulation, and dirt 4 is like dirt 3

Until they releases Dirt 5, Dirt 2 will always be on the top of the List and we hope someday they remaster's the game because it deserves... Still playing it till our day and still enjoying every single second of it (P.S: I only play Dirt games thats why i have the right to judge fairly) never missed one and never will but hope to have one day a good one as #Dirt2

I like dirt rally, its finally a challenge after sweeping literally every race in dirt 3 it actually forces you to work for a podium spot (BTW shift at a higher RPM, you're wasting so much of that power lmao)

Ryan Fanstone You are wrong. Dirt 2 is considered by many to be the better looking. This is because of the filter. Dirt 2 looks bright and vivid..courses like in Marocco, Malaysia and China radiate warmth! ..where later games look more realistic and dull.
I like Dirt Rally, so realistic. sadly the pace note cannot be adjusted.
I hate when the navigator overconfident about the corner and ended up hitting giant rock or tree.

Dirt 2 was so fun. Dirt 4 looks so crisp, has more cars, and random generator tracks which would entice you to get better with the pace notes.
ohsweetnothing yea but the track generator gets pretty predictable after a while, and the stages don't have anything unique to set them apart from each other so it ends up being kinda boring imo
Dirt rally will always be the best. Dirt 2 is just a arcade game that really doesn't feel like a rally game. I also hate how they went from Colin Mcrae to Ken Block. I have absolutely nothing against Ken Block but I just think that the change from Colin to Ken wasn't the right change. They should've maybe change to Kris Meeke.

Big part of the gaming days was definitely dirt showdown. Easily the best one in the series for me!
Out of the 3 old Dirt games (1-3), Dirt2 is the best by far when speaking solely about the rally (can`t say much about the other disciplines in Dirt2 and 3, as i don`t give a damn and try my best to avoid them). Dirt2 has a much more immersive feel with a much more refined control over the cars to it, and unlike racing in the two other games, it doesn`t feel artificial. Playing Dirt3 directly after Dirt2 will leave you with the feeling of simplified and dumbed down controls and physics.
I didn`t play the two newer games yet, but i`m really excited to try them out, especially Dirt Rally.

people on this stupid bandwagon of hating D4, I've had all of them and 4 is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
How is it compared to dirt rally?
D4 is fun but not enough contents, just 5 rallies. And stage generator is not good enough. But graphics is good and general feel of the cars is nice though there are no wrc cars, r5 are the strongest. And obviously there is useless WRX
D4 just doesn't have much going for it. I'll admit the management was pretty fun but the game lacked style and the graphics were honestly a step back from what 3 and showdown was leading it up to
Well, to be honest, the damn game didnt even come with simulation phyiscs at launch, the landrush mode feels tacky and garbagey, the rally cars feel stuck to the ground and the grip loss doesnt feel progressive ot feels like youre driving on soap, the only cars that feel even remotely good are the rallyx supercars.
