Multicam black is not the best camo. But it does go hard, and it does look cool. And going hard and looking cool are two very important aspects of gun fighting.
Absolutely agreed, by no means are we saying it’s the best camo, we’re simply suggesting real world applications and basically the pros and cons to it alongside actually how effective really is it when being used as a camo.
Multicam black was designed as an intimidation pattern. It was not designed to work as camo in any environment. Being dark, it would lend itself to hiding a person in the dark as good as any other dark clothing. The best camo for night time, is the same camo for that environment in the daytime. The same science that went into the development of the other Multicam patterns was not used to create MC black. One again, it is only to look intimidating, as per their own webpage’s statement about the pattern.
That's the same thing that I've been saying about MultiCam Black. Basically whatever camo works during the daytime would work at night. The only thing that I can see MultiCam Black being good for is in and around the water, or also blending in with other people who are wearing MultiCam Black. Plus I really don't see just wearing MultiCam Black and having LE look at you and then just ignoring you and going "oh, they must be LE".
The “night time camo” argument is strange to me, because if you are wearing appropriate camouflage on other parts of your body, it will create high contrast, even against darker greens or olives. Also, I do not believe that multicam black will assist in PID, because multicam is such a widely proliferated pattern, and using overt gear in any civil unrest scenario is generally a bad idea. Really good video though, very high production value!
They highly overestimate the ability of average people to identify camo patterns. Unless your local police department or sheriff's office wears multicam black on a regular basis, nobody is going to think you're a cop. Like you said, your surroundings don't magically turn black when the sun goes down. We learned this when they developed the Desert Night camo pattern.
Looks cool but multicam black is not any better at night than regular multicam. The surroundings don't magically turn black at night and you'll be just as concealed with regular multicam. It goes the hardest and adds maximum drip though and that supercedes all practical uses
In the US lots of people a buying plate carriers like K19 & K zero black now or ranger green for SHTF/ bugout. U think it’s a good alternative to grey in urban environments?
At the end of the day all the conclusion really is is “it depends”. Some will say it’s effective, some will say it isn’t. All we can really go on is our own experience and what worked well

Looking cool is just half the battle!
I would rather not be seen at all than “look cool.” It is a waste of money
