Bro. I literally couldn’t stop crying for a good 5 minutes. It’s fantastic. It shows how much Roshi has truly done, and how he’s helped the world and his friends. Not a lot of people realize what Roshi has done for the world, canon or not. I find it fitting that he’d be telling the story of Dragon Ball to the New Generation.

I know this isn't about the main story. But the epilogue with Roshi (even though obviously not the original intentional ending or even cano) always makes me tear up. Such a beautiful ending to a fan work that will probably never see it's ending.

Vegeta scoffs, turning away from Kakarrot.
Goku: “Vegeta… we’ve known each other for decades now… we are buddies… right?”
Vegeta glances over to Goku, before giving a slight smirk. The prince places a hand on the other Saiyan’s shoulder.

I'm really hoping the 2nd half of the Moro arc was a product of executive meddling by Toei and/or Toriyama. When it started, it felt like a breath of fresh air, but then it gave up everything and settled into very bad and old tropes. I hope that's not reflective of who he is as an author now, cuz if it is, his Toyble-era self was better.

@@Thuazabi Hear me out, the Buu Saga is pretty infamous. It is also known for being the arc Toriyama had arguably the most freedom to do whatever he wanted. The Cell Saga is what we see when "executive meddling" is involved, and Toriyama had the least control over it (at least as far as him trying to be involved, so not counting DB arcs he simply didn't work on). The Moro Arc is Toyotaro's Buu Saga, where he got to use his own characters and tell his own story for dragonball. And personally I find it to be a better arc than Buu overall. So I have to give huge props to Toyotaro. Let's hope there's some meddling for the anime version, just to clean up some of the negative bits.
Honestly, I put this on my tv for something to fall asleep to, and didn't shut my eyes once. The alternate ending had me crying lol. Almost cried as much as when I thought Roshi was going to die in super.

44:38 One of my favorite parts of the whole story. Toyble has a good grasp on Dragonball's comedy, and it makes the Shadow Dragons more likeable. I also like 53:51 because Bulla and Pan's look at each other as super saiyans is surprisingly wholesome. Goten is a real star in this work. He sort of gets Yamcha'd but he's got a lot of spunk. That scene with Palace is golden too.
On the serious side, Xicor is a good villain. Not his character, but his use in the story is smartly used. Overall, a first draft to Goku Black, but even the draft is solid stuff and works post GT. Broly's story is also pretty good, maybe the best use and story for the big guy I've seen (until a certain Super movie). Pairing him with Pikkon was genius. And I hate to say it, but the small story stuff with Android 17 made me like him again after his Super 17's counterpart, actually justifying a lackluster arc. I really want to see where Toyble was going with that.
Even though Toyble is busy, and the DBS manga is a bigger deal than this, I think it deserves a finish. The ending with Roshi is still wonderful, though it reminds me why I want more with Goku Jr. because the Legacy of Goku special is...Well, special.

Crazy how in the real manga they use the same technique of switching between forms. Goku of and vegeta face Goku black in the manga and they switch between super Saiyan god and Super Saiyan god blue in the middle of the fight. It’s insinuated that Vegeta was switching between his forms in the middle of the fight against Xicor too

Yeah, and it's hilarious because the creator went on to become the writer and artist for the official Super manga. They would have been better off just canonizing his various fan mangas and adapting them directly, considering how many ideas from Super were copied or inspired by them.

It was never finished, and it almost certainly never will be. Toyble (now going by Toyotaro) went on to become the head writer and artist for the official Super manga. Unfortunately, whether due to being hamstrung by Toriyama and Toei, or just his own bad decisions, I think his fan mangas were way more fun and interesting than any of the official stuff he's done.

Idk if you are joking but Xicor is a saipan hybrid. He could easily get stronger throughout the battles and then the wish wouldn't even matter at that point. The best thing to do is probably wishing to be the strongest in the universe like granolah did but the person would have to be ready to die. Final journey and passing of roshi is perhaps the saddest most emotional touching heartfelt meaningful poignant fulfilling and inspiring moments and scene in story but thing that left inconclusive and unresolved that how battle between main cast the dragon team and xicor will turned out but also I’m very sorry the losses of your papa mondo 1:26:11

I feel the current dragon ball has lost their way when it comes to story telling. This story beats anything super has offered so far and focus on side characters. Really gives you that old school dragon ball feel.

In dragon ball we meet the original gang, in Z we focus on Goku and friends. We watch every character change throughout the series. That's the beauty of it all and every character has some sort of impact to the story.
