Wow. I didn't buy this machine even if the price was enticing because of reviews saying the spark was way too strong for jewelry. You showed that level 2 is still way too strong for jewelry. How terrible. I trained in jewelry making at a trade school so I understood the implications of a machine being too strong but your demonstration is absolutely enlightening. Now I see that this is possibly a ticking bomb so I'm even happier of my decision. This is simply poor engineering. No safety mechanisms whatsoever. Plus, what does quality control look like? Do they even have quality control? So many generic products coming from China seem just makeshift crap like if they didn't care about customer experience or 4 safety as long as they can make a quick buck. What happens if there's something wrong inside or if a component blows up and the thing overheats and hurts someone or causes a fire? There should be a form of redundancy to insure protection in all cases. Now I understand why decent machines cost more and that we need these systems we pay for. I've not used my machine yet. I'm still afraid of doing something wrong. Your channel made me realize that I need training. I'll go through all your videos and then probably get one of your training programs. THanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. You're right and that's why this machine is not CSA certified for consumer safety. Furthermore, if you're in Canada or in one of the EU countries, you would not be covered for liability insurance should there be an injury caused by equipment that is not CSA certified. A lot of people don't know this and because the insurance underwriter did not ask pointed questions, such as whether you are using non CSA certified safe equipment, they mistakenly believe that it doesn't matter. You need to read the fine print of your policy. Insurance laws and policies vary from country to country, company to company and we need to be aware.
The setting of 2/6 is waaaay to high. 2/3 and 1/3 (26g rings), at most is the right setting with this welder. 6/2 is the auto setting the machine default to after about 15 mins.
Agreed - they should exchange it. However, the manufacturer would not refund. You can see on some reviews that are public (like Amazon) the reviews there.

@stonesandfindings what was it plugged into. Could be a faulty power pack or power strip. My husband and BIL are electrical contractors and both of them asked that ??? They said that there are missing pieces to this video to make a true determination of cause

You're not using it near a client's skin and don't need to worry about burning through the leather protector. I would read more reviews for your uses. Maybe the permanent jewelry forums aren't the best. I'd look into the art welding threads on other forums.
I used it for 2.5 years with no issues. This machine could have been damaged, it could be a bad component.... which can happen with any machine. I have seen people hurt with all machines. Could be that training school's machine manufacturer. Too many variables to make an educated analysis.
Thank you for sharing. Yes, this person contacted the training course provider, who said she was lying. Hence, she filmed this. Then the factory finally admitted that this does happen. I don't know if there are many makers of this exact machine. This could very well be. It could also be a stand alone machine. That's why I want people to share and also go through Amazon reviews. I cannot trust any reviews on Alibaba. There are also many sellers on Amazon, and that's why I looked through a number of them. I would advise anyone watching this to check more reviews and go on PJ forums to read up on it.

@@stonesandfindings I think this is amazing information to be shared! Whether or not you are associated with this machine I think its very important to have this shared NO MATTER WHAT! Can you imagine leaving for the day and by chance your stylus slips and sparks on an item and creates a fire while you are out of your studio.. SCARY! So glad I have a welder with 20 years of experience behind it!! Definitely do your research on your welders! I highly suggest investing in a welder that is safe vs buying something cheap and having this happen.
@daniellevmt yes people not following best practices, malfunctions, etc. Seen them posted in several groups. That is why I said without having the machine...no one should make blanket fear statements. A neutral 3rd party would need to look at it. In fact a distributor for a company blocked me for posting photos of burns, shock marks etc from machines she distributes.

When the machine is switched off, it should not emit an electrical charge. It has nothing to do with the grounding tool the person used.
