Dear daughter who does the recording. THANK YOU for all the questions you ask your deddy 😁 for clarification. Our parents, who are practically professionals at cooking, don't always give ALL the details. We appreciate you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was just thinking the same thing! What a blessing it is to have her dad teaching all of us, but also making memories for herself and family❤️ I can’t wait to (try😊)and make this!!

I made this! It came out PERFECT!! Funny story...my boyfriend for some reason thought the scotch bonnet I put in the rice was a little tomato (It was a red one) since he couldn't wait until I served him and took a taste while I wasn't looking. Needless to say he bit into the whole thing and immediately regretted it! Scotch bonnet bit back!!!.. After he composed himself and was able to to feel his tongue again.. he enjoyed the rice and peas with curry chicken I made.

Beautiful video. FyI...If you chose to put the salt/season salt in from the beginning, it takes longer for the beans to soften. If you were to add everything except for the salt in the beginning the beans would soften in half the time.
Same feeling here! He is an amazing dad and people like him guarantee that the future young people will learn to be amazing to their kids. Passing down the best legacy! Including in food!
I love this channel! I am married to a Jamaican man (blessed!), and love cooking Dishes that remind him of home. Especially dishes he says his Mummy made for him! So this is one of my favorite TH-cam channels!!! Thanks so much!
It would be great to have quantities of the main ingredients ... I estimated the rice at 2-3 cups but what would the approximate measurement be for the peas? I'm hooked on Deddy's kitchen ... made curried goat, rice and peas, and coleslaw so far. My Jamaican born son-in-law gave my cooking 👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you Deddy! ❤😊
It took me years to perfect Rice/Peas. My husband is Jamaican and of course I try to cater to his cultural foods for the past 25+ years. Measuring was the key for me to master it! You ROCK DedDY!!
She ask all the right question, he is a master cook for real he just know what to do to make it right. She ask the questions to get us beginners a better understanding
Deddy I am a big fan of yours! I know You are Jamaican but there are many Caribbean dishes and I know You can make all of them because I can see You are an excellent chef. My Mom Bajan my Dad was from Guiana please don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. You are the best and cleanest Chef on TH-cam 😋
Girl, I learned an amazing trick from an old Hawaiian woman when I lived on Maui..... after you wash your rice, then you add just enough water to bring it up to your first knuckle. So with that being said, put your pointer finger on top of the rice and bring the water level up to your first knuckle or joint excuse me no pun intended 🤣 Works like a charm every time ! No fancy kitchen equipment
OMG!!! I just made this OMG!!!!!! the touch of butter is the bomb and it taste just like the peas and rice I get at the Jamaican place, I will never do can beans again and the washing the rice thing was new to me, but I liked it. I winged it on the measurements and it came out great, not mushy or too sticky. Amazing recipe, I am hooked for life.
Great video my family owns a Jamaican restaurant my grandmother made the peas and rice . No one will show her secret. So this means the world to me thank you guys so much for sharing our culture. Mostly because these kids need it they need cultural exposure
Gongo peas is my favorite with Jamaican dishes but overall the red pea or red kidney beans is my favorite. It’s a staple on New Orleans French Cajun cuisine ❤️

I came back to watch this just to reminisce on growing up and watching my mom and aunt cook this. My sister and I had to crack open an actual coconut, drain the juice, scoop out the meat from the coconut.....oooh it was a process. But it's the memory of that process that leaves me warm. ❤❤❤❤
I love y’all!! But I need more details in these videos 🥺.. I know I know 🤦🏾♂️ my Famalay is Trini so measurements & timers are nonexistent 🤣 but please if you can list amounts sometimes..

I love your channel. I'm American but my husband is from Portland Jamaica 🇯🇲. He use to be the main one cooking the Jamaican dishes, but Deddy got me in this kitchen cooking all the time. I've used your oxtail, pigtails and peas, turkey wings brown stewed, rice and peas and these are just a few. My husband has no idea how I learned but I thank you both. I'm officially a jamerican 😆
Everyone cook's different, home here we cook our peas in abt 2 cups of water, with garlic pimento ginger when it starts boiling we add the coconut milk to sink the peas, when the peas is almost cook we add ekellion, tyme, pepper, butter nd salt if you cook with salt, and allow that to simmer properly then wash your add it.
I love how your dad cooks! I watched 2 video of your dad’s yesterday on how to cook jerk chicken and how to cook beans and rice. Today i cook both jerk chicken with beans and rice. My kids loved it and my hubby ate everything off the plate. My older son said “ mmmm” 😋 when ate the rice! Thank you!!

I am so proud of my caribbean heritage man, love your show, we are the best people in the world, many people may not know but there were never a war between caribbean nations, just love, happiness , and good food,
I love to make Asian foods and they also swear by washing the rice! It gets rid of excess starch (so it doesn't become gluey), and any impurities such as bad rice grains, little bugs or what have you, and is just more hygienic all around (considering when sorting the rice, the farmers tend to walk on top of it!) Glad to see its universal :)
This is the best cooking program or show on TH-cam especially with the both of them cooking at the same time that be husband and wife I have cooked majority of the meals and also made the rum cake and everything has been coming out fabulous God-bless continue and thank you guys for sharing with us
Dated a jamaican gal for 3yrs. Rice and peas, and Aki and salt fish were a must for family get togethers. I miss that. Time to get this going for myself 👍
I’m new to your channel and this is my first time EVER leaving a comment for anyone but I just had to say thank you so much for all your efforts you can see and feel the wisdom coming from Daddy and the special bond from you (Daughter) I was literally smiling through out the whole video and like some one else said thank you daughter for explaining everything as you go. You two are special and you really inspire me to cook with love like you all are doing. Peace and love to you both and I look forward to seeing all your recipes. Respect and Happy New Year!!!🥰❤️🇯🇲
Very good, I didn't have these exact ingredients but the method and inspiration helped me create a delicious and filling dish none the less. Thank you kind people for sharing with us!
Sandra R good morning make sure you look for a strainer with small holes in it this way they will not be able to get out the holes as you wash your rice
Best method is to put rice in a sieve and put that whole sieve in a big bowl of water. Stir the rice with your hands and with three turns it should be fine. Putting the sieve under running water is a waste of water and you need ten times more water than washing rice in the bowl.
I love a man knowing his way around in the kitchen! I love cooking with my Special Friend. Love you Daughter! for being on top of the details! Blessed 2024!♥️
Love your channel!! Just a tip for those who get the water wrong and use a rice cooker, what I do is wash the rice, put in the rice cooker and strain the juice from the pot to the rice cooker and measure the water properly... after the rice is done, stir and then stir in all the peas and “garlic / onion / etc..”... it comes out good too ;) haha
I am not a good judge of the "one inch" rule so after the peas are cooked i drain the pot to see how much water is left and and add rice accordingly. Put everything back in the pot , bring to a boil and then simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. (2 cups water to 1 cup rice always works like a charm). Love Deddy's seasoning tips though!!
Dear daughter who does the recording. THANK YOU for all the questions you ask your deddy 😁 for clarification. Our parents, who are practically professionals at cooking, don't always give ALL the details. We appreciate you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
