Wow, thanks for reacting to ALAMAT's Dayang. Good catch: the MV highlights the Tausug culture: with the choreo, visuals, and a line from the song! This is also a homage to "Dayang-Dayang" which became a viral hit in the Philippines -- one of the few songs, that are not in Tagalog or English - to make it into national attention -- a rare, rare phenom that OPM has accommodated a song not in Tag/Eng. ALAMAT's advocacy of representation aligns with this -- for more Philippine languages to make it into a national body of music (OPM), without having to have its separate label (eg Bisrock). They also did this with 'porque' - they did a cover of the Chavacano song (another non-Tag/Eng hit that became OPM). React to it next, please? Plus points if you can guess the genre they did in the cover! haha Love your reaxns, Jose and Smile!
Thanks for this RV.. Been waiting for this 😍.. The Tausugs - one of the many colorful indigenous tribes in Mindanao.. Dayang could also mean "Princess" or a "Noble Woman".
Thank you for reacting to Alamat! I did a marathon watching of your RV for Alamat and I WANT MORE 😭😭 ALAMAT has a really wide discography but all are soo good! Hope you can react to ABKD, Aswang and Gayuma plus all their wishbus since their vocals are really much clear especially the adlibs! I'm subscribing for more hehe, love how the outro of the reaction is just full of discussions about the easter eggs in the MV!
Thanks you guys for your RV. Alamat is always incorporating Filipino culture and traditions, and using local fabrics, instruments, folk dances, languages, etc. Have you watched their‘DAGUNDONG” Official MV or KASMALA? If not, I hope you guys can do a reaction video of those songs too. Thanks again 🤎 Alamat Handa ‘rap!
The concept of the group is all about Filipino culture, and the members represent and occasionally sing their parts in their respective languages on where they are from, here are the members representation: Tomas: Bicolano R-Ji: Waray Taneo: Ilocano Alas: Bisaya Mo: English and Tagalog Jao: Kapampangan You would notice that prevalently in their debut, that they were singing in 9 different languages in one song
Thank you for the member info! We did notice on the first few songs we listened to that they sing in different languages, and thought that was cool.☺️🇵🇭
I love that you guys mentioned that the chorus sounds like waves cos Tausug is a tribe located in tawi-tawi which is an island in mindanao and some also live in the waters. I think they intently want the music to sound like waves to pay homage for the habitat of the tribe.
You are right in saying that ppop groups and other current artists in the Philippines is trying to incorporate Filipino culture in their songs. Felip of SB19 highlighted folk legends about the phases of the moon in Bulan, BGYO hinted on it with having Haliya in one of their MVs (don't remember the title of the song at the moment) and EZ Mil using Ilokano in his song, Panalo, is just a small sample. You have checked out Bulan, right? Have you heard EZ Mil's Panalo?
Filipino kids need to learn the language and culture, I'm glad modern music incorporates them.😁 I've seen Bulan but haven't listened to anything EZ Mil.
Alamat's vocals 🔥

The coreography incorporates two of the tausug dances. One is kuntao, a warrior dance, and Pangalay, a courtship dance.
Thank you for that! I'm curious to see what the actual dances are like.☺️ (TH-cam search!😁👍🏼)
🔥
☺️🤍
I recommend for you to listen their acoustic & rnb version of it ^_^
