I watch and am amazed at the apparent ease at which these workers assemble these boots. Goes to show how much time and effort they've put into honing the skills necessary to do it. Impressive!
Mind blowing! Imagine the hours of muscle memory it takes to nail every stitch perfectly every single time, add to that the stress of working with expensive leather and knowing that once you miss a single hole, there's no going back, no unpicking of threads, no way to reverse the damage. And yet they make it look so effortless. Respect to the masters at Nicks keeping the craft alive.
Wow what beautiful craftsmanship guys!! Worth every Penny!! You get what you pay for. The impeccable attention to detail and styling is very evident in all your boots. The ladies boots are sweet too! Best of luck to you all!!
I'm really enjoying these behind the scenes videos you guys have been posting. I think it does a great job showcasing the skills and craftsmanship of your workers. Knowing what goes into a pair before they leave the shop helps you appreciate them even more. Keep up the quality content 🙌
There is a lot work put into making these boots, justifies why they would cost as much as a leather coach . GREAT work Nicks thanks for sharing the making !
I’ve seen several of these build videos and I always enjoy watching them. Beautiful boots! I’m just going on the start of week 14 waiting for my new Urban Loggers. Exciting!
My next boot will be one of them for sure! In black! Hope you deliver to France guys. I love to watch them working. It’s an art. I have one pair of handmade shoes and I will never buy normal ones again from a shop.
I can smell the leather, and see the high quality of craftsmanship . love to come down to the store , after covid for a custom fit . l live on Vancouver Island Canada . So close, so 49 degrees , Great camera person
I wanna make Boots so bad I absolutely love the process. If I lived in Washington I would honestly go to Nicks and ask to work for free just to learn and help out.
I am wondering if both left and right sides of a pair come from the same maker? I mean the same person who joins the upper to the last. Or just random?
I am wondering .. there are so many nails hammered into the sole of the boot. Are the nails eventually removed ? How is the foot protected from the nails ?
It's a traditional construction method. If you removed them, the heel would fall off. They're clinch nails, so when they hammer them through, they hit a metal plate on the shoe last and fold over on themselves. They then cover the nails with a leather piece, that you see at the end of the video with finishing.
These boots look great, and I love watching these videos. Maybe i'm crazy, but i really feel like the lug soles would make every pair of boots look better, even these.
Ok sorry stupid question, most contact cements like barge, renia etc need to dry before you place the two pieces together. So which type of glue is used where the craftsmen just apply and stick the pieces together immediately (the vamp over lining for example)?
My guess- i know that contact cement still works if simply stuck together, but is much weaker. In certain applications like the vamp maximum strength isn't critical so it makes more sense to do it this way. Any shoemakers here? Let me know if i'm wrong! :)
@@davechuasoup i think so, other times, like when the liner is stuck to the bottom of the upper sole, there is a cut where presumably the glue was allowed to cure and that was edited our.
Question: If I take good care of my Nicks Heritage boots, get them repaired when needed, how long can I expect them to last? I will wear them most of the time, doing light work. I'm sick of buying expensive boots and when they wear out I have to get a new pair. What is the life expectancy of Nicks?
They will last a lifetime, if you use shoe trees every time you take them off, and clean them using saddle soap, let them dry naturally, and wax polish them every two or three weeks until they look new. Also replace the soles before they reach the leather welt. Looking after shoes and boots is part of the joy of owning them.
Question guys! I'm a size 9 on the iron rangers and thorogoods beloit boot and size 9.5 on just about every other shoe. What size should I go with if I purchase Nick's boots?
I will be ordering a pair of these soon. Do you recommend half size down from brannock device for this boot? Or is it necessary to get a try on pair from you guys to test it out?
Hello, i want to purchase these as well. From what ive seen on their website is order half a size down and they do have an option to have a pair sent to you. Just curios if you ordered yours yet?
Did you guys stop using the Nicks logo stamp on the upper in favor of sewn in tags? If so, I have a set of Americanas about to be built and would like to neurotically request the leather stamping if possible.
Hey William, we use stamps on our Work boot line, and the sown tags on our Heritage boot line. If you want your Americanas to be stamped please email, or call our customer support with your order number so we can add a note to your order, and make sure to stamp your boot!
Dear Nicks, I am your old fan, and have been following your releases on TH-cam for a long time. I really like your boots, your approach to work. In my opinion, in the modern world it is very rare to produce such high-quality products, while maintaining old-school equipment. It is a pity that your shoes are not available for me. Not available in terms of price. Unfortunately, the purchase of your shoes remains only in my dreams. Thank you for your attention, I wish you continued prosperity. Sincerely, Tilek Chimanov.

I have a pair of Falcons and love them. It's cool to see how they were made. The skeleton-finger nails were also cool. Thanks for posting!
Often imitated, never duplicated and worth every penny for this American Made hand crafted piece of Heaven for my Feet.

Great video. That there isn't a bunch of narration makes it all the better.
I could watch these all day. I own two pairs of Nick's and they are worth every cent.
Quick Question: What is the piece of black material underneath the shank/ insole? Is it a leather or rubber?
I ordered a pair of Builder Pros last week can't wait to see them . I already have a pair of Urban Loggers that I love .
I think this video shows how difficult it is to build boots. The skill level and dexterity is most impressive. I want a pair. Badly.
I agree and I also want a pair.
RESPECT .. The people who work there to produce such a quality of shoe, that is a strength-muscle work (occupation)
For sure!
What a fantastic display of advanced crafting ability.
Need to see a Wickett and Craig English B boot size 11.5 EE in chestnut being made.
I’ve seen several of these build videos and I always enjoy watching them. Beautiful boots! I’m just going on the start of week 14 waiting for my new Urban Loggers. Exciting!
I find them very interesting and relaxing, next thing you know I'm asleep.

Beautiful Hand Made AMERICAN boots...! Outstanding and those boot makers are "Bad Ass"...! 5 STARS +..!
A new pair of nice boots is hard to beat.
Cant wait for my falcon boots, Nicks employees/craftsmen/women are amazing. Love my Nicks!
This is a real art not just technology. Excellent ...
I'm loving this behind-the-scenes video campaign as of late!
🎉
The falcons will definitely be the next pair after I get my urban loggers. Beautiful
Their mock toe is simply theeeeeeeeee best
Love these videos! Can we get one of u guys making the Rose Anvil boots?!
Real craftsmanship with hand tools and machines !!! 👍👍👍. I will place an order soon.
Man, these are so beautifull i would feel like walking on a work of art and top quality crafstsmanship
I’ve been wanting a pair of mock toe boots, but I think I like these much better!
Mad skills those sewers have. Whole new level of appreciation, thanks. Can’t wait for my new Falcons!

What a nice pair of boots! Awesome work!
I am wondering if both left and right sides of a pair come from the same maker? I mean the same person who joins the upper to the last. Or just random?
So what’s happens if when stitching the seamstress makes and big error? Do you have to get a new price of leather and rebuild?
Amazing, they really are no different to an artist painting a picture
It's a work of Art!!!
nice to see a craftsman at work
Nicks Falcon! Beautiful boots, got mine two weeks ago. Greeetings from Sweden!

These boots look great, and I love watching these videos. Maybe i'm crazy, but i really feel like the lug soles would make every pair of boots look better, even these.
I prefer them, too, in terms of looks. I’ve got a pair right now with a “Christie” sole and when I get them resoled, I’m putting lugs on them
One set leather shoes Courier available
I love my Falcons

curious. is the same pattern die cutter (used to cutnout leather upper) used for both left and right shoe? cheers.
