COCKLE CREEK IN TASMANIA BLEW OUR MINDS! WE GO ALL THE WAY SOUTH AND WE FALL IN LOVE!

  • Listen...I know how it always sounds. . ."So EPIC!" "THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!" "COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!" But seriously, a lot of the places we went to in Tasmania were just that! We didn't think we would be going to Cockle Creek. Plans changed again, met an old fella in Franklin who convinced us that whole trip would be worthwhile. . .and he certainly wasn't wrong! When you see the footage, you'll see what I mean. . .it was just such a sick spot.
    Very well protected from the winds and unfortunately the swell also, which was a bit of a bummer. But the calm waters were nice for swimming and the kids too.
    On the way there we stopped in Franklin for a cheap night and then did a long weekend at a packed Huon Valley Caravan Park for the kids. Not heaps of footage from there as I was editing a bit and hanging out the rest of the time. Plus, I prefer to shoot the nice stuff - vans packed on top of each other isn't exactly that nice.
    Huonville was nice though - we went op shopping and bought a bunch of warm stuff. A scarf that I still have with me now saved my life as we travelled through Tasmanaia and again along the Great Ocean Road a month or so later.
    Anyways - the construction of this one is a bit disjointed as we didn't actually film many pieces to camera as it turns out. But I think it's come together alright. Well, we enjoyed watching it hahaha! Our own worst critics too.
    Hope you enjoy watching! 🙏
    Please like, comment and sub if you can. We really appreciate it. 👌

    I love your video ! My great great great grandfather came over from Oxford England and was one of the first settlers down at cockle creek I have and know most of my family history from years gone by . My forefathers worked in the coal and timber mills down there .

      @@SaltEarthandSun they lived all over the place down there . My family followed the work down there . Some of the houses still stand today . My family also used to sail on the may queen that used to sail the milled timber to Hobart . And is docked in Hobart today

Seems like I can’t buy the music on CD as you did not reply and we are not one of those doing TH-cam etc, making a living off it as we are just retired old buggers who love to caravan and enjoy watching vids like yours (the best by far). Loving the vids and this one makes me want to go to Tassie! Do you have any preferred LUTS or colour grades for Davinci as everything you do looks very natural and cinematic, love it!! Such amazing memories!!

    • @GrabLifeByTheGourlays
      @GrabLifeByTheGourlays 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also since your van tour vid showcasing Safiery, we have been doing heaps of research and are now thinking of doing the same! Those lithium systems look schmic!

    • @SaltEarthandSun
      @SaltEarthandSun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man! 🙏 Yeah, we want to go back too... Still so much we didn't see and we'd love to finish the trip properly down there. 👍 LUTS? Only transform LUTS for the RED as it gives you the IPP2 Colour and what not that I want, Canon as a transform for the log to REC 709 and sometimes for the DJI LOG, but sometimes I get better without the transform for that stuff. . .
      Can't stand the LUT movement to be honest. I just grade to my eye and what it looked like in the moment, with a little creative license.

    • @SaltEarthandSun

      Awesome! Yeah, they are a great system! Get as much solar as you can!

    • @GrabLifeByTheGourlays
      @GrabLifeByTheGourlays 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SaltEarthandSun I've only just discovered Davinci so my manual ability to grade is poo! I know I should learn but trying to find the time... We hope to order our van in a few months and then decide on what Safiery package to put in it! You got any recommendations?

    • @SaltEarthandSun
      @SaltEarthandSun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GrabLifeByTheGourlays Yeah, it takes a long time to begin to even see what you want to do. . .practise. 👍
      Get as much solar as you can possible get. If you're going full electric, you'll need a lot. Especially in winter. Charging from the car as fast as possible definitely helps. 👍 We used it a lot in winter and in SA when it was cold.
