The TSA application site in Chattanooga was in a Staples on the other side of the county from me. Update: I walked in and was out in less than 10 mins. Then it took 2 days to get approved. I do not regret it.
You don’t pay the 85 fee until you go for interview and get fingerprinted and photographed. You don’t have to wait for letter in mail. Their is a link in email confirming your interview. Sometimes get approved next day.
@ Zoltannd, I don't have to get my letter of approval??? before I can start using the TSA pre-check ? I'm afraid I won't get it in time before I travel...
Freetheppl after you pay 85 and get fingerprinted and photographed you get receipt fir payment. Go home and next day go online and enter ueid and number and your. Status will be displayed. If your trusted traveller number is displayed print it out.
Stumbled onto this video since I have my interview on Friday and I am already a sub and about to binge so many of your videos. I’m a travel nerd. Thank you!
I just got back from my trip yesterday. I will say that Clear & TSA pre-check are worth it if you can afford both one of my credit cards actually pays for TSA pre-check. It was a good experience I would definitely recommend if you could get both to try it out if not just go with TSA pre-check. However, if you travel international a lot, I would go with global entry.
If you are a u.s military member or a DOD employee you also get this for free. Your dod id number acts as your KTN. DOD civilians need to op in military are automatic.
6/27/23 11:36 AM I am curious. The only advantage I see for CLEAR is you cut in line in front of TSA, at least at the airports I have travelled in and out of. The disadvantage is it requires an annual membership fee. It maybe global but we don’t travel that much out of the country. I am hearing TSA lines are getting backed up.
I quite often get the random PreCheck. I've heard they are going to stop this, at least they threaten this. It's super nice when it happens. The first time it happened I thought well I must look like an old man because they were letting me keep my jacket and shoes! :D
Hi Laurie: I have a question since your husband is a pilot. Do pilots have a sort of Global entry for each country they fly in? I have always wondered if pilots and flight crews in general have a particular status that allow them to clear immigration and customs of the countries they fly in. Your clarification wiould be much appreciated. Thank you By the way I just got approved for the nexus card. Got my enrolment interview 3 days ago in Blaine Washington.
I always opt out of passing through the body scanner machine... My question is... Does being a TSA Pre✓ passenger still require you to pass through the X-ray body scanner or is opting out of the scanner possible and still benefiting from not stripping down, removing shoes/belts, unpacking large electronic devices, etc...?
May I ask, if you have TSA in your flight tickets and choose to go through the regular line check up, can you do it? Are you allowed to do it?? (Just in case we want to follow friends that don’t have TSA if we get it)) thank you
You sure can! If they say wrong line, just tell them you want to go through with your friends. You will probably have to take off shoes and take out liquids bag though. Thanks for watching!
I’m applying today hoping I have the right documents. I have been married twice. Only have the marriage certificate for my current marriage. I have the divorce court papers from the first marriage. We’ll see. Good video. 😊
You can get precheck multiple ways: (1) TSA Precheck $85 as described in the video; (2) Qualify for Global Entry, Sentri, or NEXUS through the US Customs and Border Protection (Nexus is joint operated with US CBP and Canada Border Services Agency and has additional benefits relating to Canada as well). You also qualify if you're military active duty or reserves. This applies for both military travel and personal travel. If you get precheck through TSA Precheck (no adds), you'll use the Known Traveler they give you. You won't receive a card for this. If you have a US CBP program, as soon as you're approved you'll use the PASS ID number. This number is on the back of your Trusted Traveler card that you'll receive. If you don't have it yet because you just got approved (don't try this until a few hours after the officer confirms your active status), this number is also on the letter you were instructed to bring to the interview and on the website. Military members, use the DOD number as your KTN. Note: KTN is different than redress. Redress number is used to specifically identify you apart from someone on a watch list with a similar name.
Robin, thank you for watching. I don't think it would be worth it because you get to go to the front of the line anyway. But not as fun as at an amusement park. But waiting on them to wand you or open a gate thing for you takes just a bit of time.
Thank you for posted your video , I have a question I am owner operator of expedite cargo van and I want to get Tsa card or (tsa pre check) to use for loads from airport, I had an application with fingerprint and background check online , so what is the next step after fingerprints ?? please And I have confuse if tsa card same as tsa pr check
Hi, thank you so much for sharing this, but I have to say this: I subscribed to the channel last week because we're having a fly to Tampa from Atlanta and I need some info packing, we flew on Wednesday and come back Saturday at midnight. And we check the luggage, they give us pre check fly, we are 56, 54 and 13 years old, my husband, me and my daughter. I definitely see the Lord's hand on our fly, why? Because we keep the Shabbat as a holy and we went to give His Word's to my causin and her family that's all!!! So please whoever read, go back to our Phather Lord and keep his commands and trust in Yeshua who said if you love me, you will keep my commandments!! Forgot to mention we are not militar, don't n travel often and was the first time going in Spirit and I am not citizen but my husband and my daughter are and didn't buy this program. So thanks to the Lord!!! Blessings for all. Sorry for my English.
I wish I had Amex card so I could had precheck for free! A friend told me about card but I did airline card for specific miles instead . I heard Amex covers fee and you can get miles Thru flight partners bc going thru specific airline. I wish I had current passport bc if I did I would have global entry instead when coming back from Tx
Hi, Laurie, just want to say that a couple of your packing videos have changed my life! Thank you! Sometimes my boarding pass says I am Pre-Checked, even though I haven't applied for it or anything. I call this winning the Pre-Check Lottery! Any idea why this happens?
Margaret Shea I was gonna ask the same thing! My last flight I was TSA precheck approved as well without even applying! Laurie??? Any comment? Love your videos!
I hope this gets to both you and Margaret Shea. It may be if you are over 65. My mom sometimes gets it and sometimes does not. You can ask an agent on the tsa.gov site. Thank you for watching!
The reason why pre check sometimes shows up on your boarding pass is because either you are a frequent flyer, or you have global entry (Global Entry comes with TSA Pre Check) It has nothing to do with the airline, They do not have the authority to do that. I'm an enrollment agent for the TSA pre check program. Please visit: universalenroll.dhs.gov To enroll today!
I fly frequently and have gotten it automatically many times. Please tell me how, I haven’t applied for it and have wondered how I got it?? I always fly on American, and usually first class, could this be how I got it?
LauriePOP Hi, thank you for your reply! Actually I’m 56, not there yet😉 Maybe it’s from frequent flying, not sure. Either way, thank you for sharing your knowledge!❤️
Hi, it does not seem like any of the brand new requirements apply to precheck thankfully. I do not know the turn around time. Do you get to travel this summer?
Yes, when I travel if I forgot to put my ktn before I just give the check in counter or you can do it online... (did it a couple times at different airport)
Hi can you avoid having them search your body or having this they can still search you.i hate that part even if you go on that search machine they still touch you.
Hi, Ana. I do not think you can avoid it. But you can be smart and dress correctly so nothing sets off an alarm. I do know you can request a female IF this happens. I do not think it would happen. Don't wear a belt, take everything out of your pockets, and take off your watch just in case. Thank you for watching!
In the "you do not need to remove" section of the TSA Precheck page, it doesn't list food, so yes, you still have to take all your food (including ham in a baggie) out of your bags, and it will likely alarm if there's food still inside; it's not odd that food inside a bag alarmed and they did an extra scan on it - it's normal.
I have had TSA Pre for 4 years, and it is the BEST travel accessory I have ever purchased.
So. True.
Thanks for the video. My husband and I have TSA Precheck and it's a big convenience. $17 per year per person.
Thanks for watching again, Gail.

What you say is true. If you can afford it, I would do CLEAR and PreCheck.

Hi, they have to buy it.
Did a walk in at the enrollment center, received my known traveler number in 72 hours and added it to my ticket
Excellent, didn't know that existed! I will keep it in mind for future trips.
Very helpful, thank you!
Ty Laurie.. I've never heard of "PRE•✔️"! Good to know!
If you fly 3 times a year it may be worth it

I bought my ticket online (trip is next month). Is it too late to buy Precheck? I don't have a ticket, just the receipt and itinerary from United.
It may be.
I’m applying today hoping I have the right documents. I have been married twice. Only have the marriage certificate for my current marriage. I have the divorce court papers from the first marriage. We’ll see. Good video. 😊
Hope it goes smoothly!
Thank you 😊 All went well! All I needed was my passport! Yay! 👍
I have it and so far, well worth it. Do you also have Global number as well??? My daughter & son in law have it for their travel. Do you need both???
You do need both. I do not have it because I don't fly int'l more than once a year. Thank you again for watching.
If you buy Global entry, you get TSA pre check included for only $15 more than just pre-check. Well worth the price.

Good info. I wonder if it Is worth it for disabled people in wheelchairs to pre check?

Yes, you are correct. It would be a waste of money for me to pre check. I have to be patted down along with the magic wand. :-)
Got my pre heck done and was so easy...only took about 10 minutes in person.
Awesome update! Thanks.
What about tsa for global travel Do we need tsa for us travel also?

If you travel internationally and pay for Global Entry ($110 for 5 years), TSA PreCheck is included! Same interview process as well.
It's such a helpful thing! We just got a puppy so I'm taking a few weeks break btw. Thanks for watching!
Don’t go to the airport for the in-person appearance. I got mine done at a Staples. In and out in five minutes, legit.
Yes just read the directions online so you know where to go for your airport/state.
When I got my TSA Precheck in Miami, I got my application and fingerprints at the same time.
Oh that's wonderful! Thank you for watching.

I fly frequently and have gotten it automatically many times. Please tell me how, I haven’t applied for it and have wondered how I got it?? I always fly on American, and usually first class, could this be how I got it?

Is this only for Americans. We live in Israel and visit USA once a year. Would it be helpful for us
Love your iTunes. Thanks
Thanks for watching! It sure is.
I had to take my electric curlers out of my carry-on bag and put in a tray. Is this normal? Does anything electric have to be taken out?
That is odd. But they made me take out my sliced ham that was in a baggie so I don't know.
Thank you for your help

I keep my TSA pre check # on my cell phone under T.
There’s actually a number of countries that the USA has partnered with, for Global Entry. And Global Entry includes TSA Pre Check.
Are there any updates re TSA Precheck since COVID? Great channel btw. Also what is the turn around time from application to approval?
Hi, it does not seem like any of the brand new requirements apply to precheck thankfully. I do not know the turn around time. Do you get to travel this summer?

Do they randomly give you tsa precheck to get you hooked so you’ll apply for it?

When do I pay the 85 dollars? in person at my interview or what?

Global Entry for $15 more if you travel internationally. It’s amazing! I feel a bit like a rock star strolling through security and customs.
I should! They do zoom through. Thanks for watching!
Good to know.
I'm going to international. Do I need TSA pre check?🤔
No; it is only for convenience in the US. The quick one for customs is Global Entry $$$. Thank you for watching!
Global entry is worth the extra $15 if you are live near the Mexican border as you can access SENTRI lanes.
There is also nexus for the Canadian border
Do they email you the known traveler number
Hi yes! And once you enter your KTN for that airline, it will remember you on that airline every time.

It's so funny to me.
What questions do they ask you at the TSA Precheck appt?
I don't remember any. Thanks for watching.
Went today. No questions asked. Just gave my birth certificate and ID, verified my information, did finger prints, paid $85 and left. Took 8 minutes
At age 73 isn't pre check automatic due to age
Yes, I forgot to say that. Thank you for watching, Betty! Sometimes my mom won't have it automatically and sometimes she does. She's 71.
“Airline family” 🙄
Sounds like it's not worth it to me.
If you dont fly often then it's not, but if you do travel frequently it's a blessing. It's only $85 for 5 years. That's less than $20 a year.
We are airline family too , travel 2/3 times a week ..... different airports everywhere... DEFINITELY NEED PRE-CHECK !!!!!!
