The skills are also hard (maybe not rocket science), but the game mechanics are lot of work to get right. Passion is always der. I feel passion is more. But it's more passion with no skill, so that becomes day dreaming. Becoz not everyone likes the typical IT job. People want to try a lot of different things. They lack the discipline and hard work to learn and acquire complex skills and also lack access to good tools. Vfx is different vs actual coding, game engine are all complex. That's why India does more of outsourced vfx work than actual creative design, coding etc. And if passion is lacking as you say, then Indians only want to consume rather than create. And let the creation work done by others. Then this is laziness or maybe a cultural mindset. I really don't know exactly what Indians are passionate about. Majority of the things are just cheap copies or rip offs.
Very simple - because rather than making a game, Indians will argue how Wukong is copied from Hanuman and India conquered China 2,000 years ago without firing a shot using Buddhism. Therefore, India wins and everyone feels much better, and every uncle and aunty goes back to sitting around and passing the time with their favourite hobby which is talking for the sake of talking.

When all of India's poorest rural areas are covered with cement roads or even asphalt roads with green belts and guardrails, where children have clean and decent clothes and nutritious meals, 4G/5G networks cover every household, villagers can afford motorcycles or cars, and new houses are being built, then India will naturally become as confident and prosperous as China. In recent years, I have traveled to many remote rural areas in western China, including Tibet, Xinjiang, and Gansu. The above is the scene I witnessed.

It was happened when a series of conditions were met, because continuous progress of education and technology. Also because large number of technician has been trained , the increase of economic income, and the expansion of the consumer market. If India wants to make a game like Black Myth, then India must first complete the country's industrialization, popularize basic education for all, let more people get rid of poverty and have time to get in touch with video games.
yes. agreeable points. Just like you could have not have expected China of 1990s or 2000s to make a high quality consumer good, you can not expect India to produce high quality goods out of low skilled low income mass suddenly.
Most people never bothered to learn deeper truths. Wukong initially had a small team, but after the first trailer, passionate developers (many with industry experience) around the world applied. Something like 10,000 applicants.

A game based on Indian mythology would never work because people will get offended VERY quickly and on every step. The developers would basically be walking on eggshells with it. The history is so rich in our country and could lead to insane masterpieces but the sensetive feelings on religion and mythology by the population will always hinder the possibility heavily.

You still need a strong domestic market first to at least absorb the majority of the sales just like wukong. Then the question is why? soft power projection of course. I am a game developer, and trust me, we can build AAA games in India. The only problem is whether the game can repay the investors and if global players will accept it. Just look at the film industry, only a few films have been accepted in foreign countries. For example, despite having a big budget and extensive marketing, films like Kalki didn’t get accepted by international audiences. The thing about Wukong is that everyone around the world has heard about the Monkey King story. Their cartoons and movies were already globally popular, giving them an advantage when working on the game. When they released posters and demos, the world was already interested because they were familiar with the character and connected with it through movies and animation series. To my knowledge, we don’t have any such character or story from India that is globally recognized. When people talk about India, they often think of poverty, chicken tikka masala, or Gandhi. There isn’t a story or character we can sell to the international audience. Obviously, we can’t make a game about Gandhi fighting the British with his stick because Gandhi’s freedom struggle was about non-violence. Additionally, we can’t make money from the Indian market because the majority of people don’t have high-end laptops or PCs at home. Even working professionals in IT or other industries who have high-end PCs are unlikely to pay ₹2500-3000 for a game when they can download it from torrents.

I agree with your comment for the most part. We don't have to make a game that only showcases India. The Japanese don't make games that only showcases unique Japanese culture, on the contrary they make just fun games. In India we could make games which are just clones of games and try and sell them. This way we can develop talent and increase adoption by everyone in India, then focus on a game that uniquely displays Indian culture.

Indian gaming professional here - Good summary! Here are my 2 cents: - Gaming is high art. We have not done it well with animation industry as of date in India for the last 2 or 3 decades, let alone gaming. - Having high end technology is akin to having an expensive pencil and that alone does not make you an excellent artist. The missing pieces are compelling story telling skills and extra ordinary visualisation skills. A combo of these two are rarest gemstones one can find. This won't come just because we have funding, or tech. - The few Indian gaming companies are copying other globally successful games(mostly casual or mobile games), with MAY BE a few trivial changes here and there. - When it comes to engaging the player, patience is the name of the game. I have not seen one company putting in the discipline and patience in building a really successful and truly delightful casual game, let alone AAA from India. Summary: Patience, discipline, compelling story telling skills, brilliant artistic abilities are gravely missing. We have all the money, talent, and resources. Honestly, with the current mindset of any average entrepreneur, we can't build successful games, let alone great games.

Gamer: this game plays like it was made by someone who was making a game they wanted to play themselves. So many games nowadays play like they’re trying to manipulate you. This one just feels genuine. One can really feel the heart the developers pour into this Game. When the producer of the game, Feng Ji, was a still fresh college graduate, he wrote a magazine column "Why Games Fail". He went into quite a bit of details of the Chinese gaming industry at the time, but the main point he had was that developers don't play their own games anymore. To him, a game can only be successful if the guys who made the game in the first place had an unstoppable urge to create something fun, and even after years of working on the game, they are still excited to play it. Seems like this is still the mindset Feng has decades later, with millions of dollars of budget on the line.
If you don‘t tell your own story, someone will tell it for you. Many Japanese and Korean games were based on Chinese mythology. US games were based on European myth and stories. Soon, Chinese will tell Indian myth and story and make a game of it, and sell to the world.😂 You snooze, you lose.
Can India make a AAA Game? no. you talk about unreal, do you know how much resources is required to produce game designers that can use unreal effectively? it took China 15 years from when they started training on unreal to develop it talent pool to what it is today. it not like you can drag anyone with a game development degree and he is able to produce the quality for a AAA Game. it goes deep if you want to create the best game, you have to become the best in the field first. AAA is not "entry level" and you can't use entry level designers who doesn't know what they are doing. furthermore AAA game ROI is not good, so it does not make sense for anyone to upstart in the game industry making AAA Game, Wukong is their 3rd game after they have develop their team to take this challenge. as to market, domestic market is really not important since game function effectively as retailable services, just like how you can sell Indian software to global market, you can sell Indian game to global market, the market penetration of India itself is not that important. of course for Wukong, they did take advantage of their domestic market, but it is not a requirement to be successful, it is just harder to capture the global market which is more competitive. I do game development in Singapore, we hardly have an domestic market. on government policy, you can attempt to attract major studio to establish a base in a city, and build a digital media cluster around that city. possibly tax free, with free office space, get them to come and they will figure out how to create the talent you need, and once these talent exist in India, they can found their own companies. lastly the point of outsourcing, you imply it is difficult to outsource the development of games. when it reality most of the work in Wukong and many AAA games are outsource, and this is the result of the production cycle of game is irregular, another words, you need different people for different duration for different stages of development, if you hire everyone to work inhouse, you will have to keep hiring and firing people continously, it is just easily to outsource a different part of the development to different specialised studios that can then pack their schedule by working for several different games. watch the credit carefully, and you will see there are alot of outside involvement in games development. this is why I mention you need to build a digital media cluster, because these companies don't standalone, they support each other and offer each other services. as to sensitivity of Indian culture and religion, that you maybe right. in which case you can simply choose not to make historical game and focus on future or scifi. why I make games is because I can make anything. the most important thing about game development is not to limit yourself to an idea on what a game can and cannot be. if you describe to a 100 people, the concept of flappy bird, 98 of them will say it a stupid idea, yet that "stupid idea" works, and people are willing to play it. you don't have to make your game like everyone else. i hope that can inspire some to try their wildest ideas.
If you have a deep understanding of Chinese You will love games even more because words and conversations are filled with profound philosophy and worldview
The first thought that pops into my mind is that for an international audience, they have to deal with the Indian version of Wukong dancing before and after every boss fight.
One of the biggest problem is most Indian teenagers don't even have a pc, even if they have, it's a regular one. We also don't even a high-end phone that can support the game. That's why free fire blew up more than pubg. I still remember there was only one rich kid in my class that could afford to play pubg, maybe 5-10 people at max in our entire school and it was a private school. And also job vacancies are pretty low so most people either keep grinding upto middle age or continue their family buisness. Ultimately, most people don't even think about these luxuries. For India to build a game like Wukong, we have to be economically better at door to door level and be more than just lower middle class families. If some Indian developer even manage to cook a masterpiece, they have to rely on international sales. In India, it'll be just streamers buying that game and a few others pirating it
What makes you think the have to target teenagers? All the people I know who played Wukong are over 22 and even most streamers who played it are well over 20. Also not every game needs to be as expensive and good looking as Wukong to sell good. Look at Elden Ring or Tears of the Kingdom. They still sold over 20 million
It's not like nobody buys games in India, me and my friends in school had PS4's or xbox consoles, I still am an avid gamer and have a great pc and Ps5. Steam and epic have a decent market in India. The ps5 has sold 1 million units in India which is again above average but it's better than nothing. I saw a kid in a game store in a mall, he wanted to buy 2 games but had money for only one, he wanted The last of us 2 Remastered and Dying light2 for ps5, so I bought him DL2, earlier he didn't accept as I was a stranger but then I gave it to him as a gift, honestly the best feeling in the world. I feel happy when I see more kids and adults game and enjoy it as a hobby. Hopefully it will expand soon and India will also make a masterpiece like Wukong.

After observing the Indians for years and hearing many stories from pragmatic, objective ppl, I have found one huge flaw which the Indians couldn't compete on the big stage. That is they have great ambitions but do not have the will to carry out the difficulties in achieving the objectives. Give u an analogy. It is like a person who has primary school qualification but wanted to take the exams of an undergraduate. The foundations is not there, my friend. China took 4 decades of continued hard work to achieve her dreams on all levels. India doesn't have the patience.
Yes. Their foundation is weak....very backwards...jumping to IT before having a manufacturing base. Their strategy wasn't great because Westerners whispered in their ears great BS which they followed. China rejected western suggestions, while India listened and became a democracy WAY TOO EARLY, before they developed. No developed countries were democratic at their time of rapid development. It slows you down so hard when you really need someone who can forcibly drag the country upwards with an iron hand, without the slow bureaucracy.
Indeed it's many cultural flaws that severely limit what Indians can ultimately achieve. Also it's important to understand that most Indians value superstition and religion over reality and common sense. Chinese don't have these problems.
Imagine playing Lord Hanuman as a character. You would never lose a single fight-not because Hanuman is the strongest (which he is)-but because studios wouldn’t want to be reduced to a pile of debris. For argument's sake, let's say they never touch any religious topics. Even then, we would rarely come up with good storytelling, similar to Bollywood, where there are hardly any watchable movies in comparison to the huge amount of content produced. However, I still remain optimistic about the future of Indian gaming. You never know what surprises the future holds.

The cost of entry into proper AAA gaming is very high in India. Earlier it was only hardware but now even software clients like Steam have ditched regional pricing. Earlier Steam games used to be priced according to purchasing power of the country, nowadays it's directly 60$-70$ converted to ₹5k. Also the basic idea of what a 'video game' should be is very much flawed here. Indie games and platformer type games don't get respect as people think they are made for kids. Indian rookie gamers prefer graphics over gameplay. This same thing used to happen with anime few years back until the advent of OTT after which people started respecting the idea of animation being a proper medium for storytelling and not just limited to kid's entertainment. Hopefully things change. As a country of 1.4 Billion people one can only imagine the potential of a gaming market.
Here is my perspective as Game Developer. You have same Misconception that every Indian Have. if India don't have market of PC & Console Gaming. It Doesn't mean we can't achieve this level of Success. I always repeat this line "We Don't sell games in Sabji Market, Games are sold on Internet Globally" so Market is same for any game no matter it's from India, China, USA or Uganda etc. Actual Problem is We Missed Revolution of Gaming. Because "India is still Unemployed & Poor Country". many of us still can't afford basic Technology & Computers & All Current and previous Politicians are responsible for this. So Simply It Doesn't matter if India have PC gamers or not. Because We have easy reach to global Gamers including US, Europe, China. So Market is same for us. only thing we are missing is Basic Technology reach which will plant Tech Creations like AAA Games, AAA Movies, AAA Billionaires. "Gamers are Pure souls they don't care about Country of Origin. Only thing they care about Experience." I get 100's of messages from students. asking for help to get Computer to do something in Tech, Gaming, Films but they can't afford Computer required for these things. This is Reality.
This may be true. Growing up in Mumbai, we had the resources to go to lamington road to buy cheap parts for assembling decent gaming PCs . But to build a game development setup from this is near impossible. I remember an animator friend of mine who was working on a short film, leaving his computer on throughout the day to render 5 seconds worth of frames while he went to work. And this was not too long ago. Meanwhile you have one person development studios from Eastern European countries, who are also poor, but are at least able to afford computers.

Hey dum dum. China is only slightly less socially conservative as India. As for religion. India has more useless left wing progressives than China by a wide margin. Hell the Chinese have successfully blended socialism, a Leninist state and nationalism without falling into left liberal f3t1zhes. Indian secularists are busy running defence for Islamists and crying about hindutva and ISROs pre launch pujas. This is a question of coherent culture and spare capital. India has neither.
As a guy developing a game engine and aspiring to setup a game studio, more truer words cannot be said. Most people pressure into learning things that what the companies require and do not focus on the creation and innovation side of things.
Two reasons you forgot to mention for Wukong's success: 1. Woke game journalists and activist tried to cancel the game because they tried to blackmail the studio into putting DEI propoganda in their game and when they refused to do this, all the journalists tried canceling the game, they were giving the game negative reviews even a few days before its release. Gamers saw this and as they've seen games with DEI become souless, a game that is completely against DEI was like heaven to them. It also showed that gamers no longer trust journalists and journalist no longer dictate what becomes popular or played in the gaming market. 2. "Journey to the west" the origin of Wukong's story, is one of China's four great pieces of literature and possibly the most popular of them, so its success in china was invevitable. And in America, many schools students read the story for school projects as well. So it was also popular already in the west, like man come on, its the literal inspiration behind Goku. Bonus: Just like how Elden Ring got so popular even though other Fromsoft games like DarkSouls didnt, was because it came out in a time where the market was saturated with trash games. And this is the same thing that happened with Wukong, the game industry in the west is is very bad right now. Like look at Concord💀It had double the budget of Wukong andsame development time and staff number yet the game couldnt supass 700 all time high players and Sony shut it down after less than 14 day. All because the game was just bad and also infested bad DEI charecter designs and the game was paid in a market where Hero shooters struggle even when they're free. "Its life span was outlasted by a bug in my backyard😂"
Bloodborne was a success and is considered one of the greatest games of all time, because it was breathtaking and what they did was commendable, people literally beg sony to release a port for pc. That tells you how high the demand is.
Piracy isnt the problem, most people who pirate it wouldn't have bought the game none the less, and to be fair the reason that india even has a gaming community is due to piracy, many of those people who were introduced to games through piracy are buying games now.
There is no potential as of now Pc gaming is going backwards in india because of prices or computer components and laptops New Consoles always have low stocks and are heavily overpriced Mobile gaming is only big because mobiles are cheaper in india and are a necessity for people.
1) Gaming in India is a luxury. 1 lakh for a pc build along with games ranging from 3-5k. Good luck convincing parents to buy these. Also some families(even today) aren't earning enough to eat or have a sustainable life. 2) India is very sensitive when it comes to hindu mythology. People have backward thinking. Government is backward too. Hate crime in the name of religion happens everyday in India. Good luck convincing them anything related to hindu mythology. 3) Development whether it's a game, website or anything is like a passion. You can't compete with someone if you're not passionate enough. In 2020, government banned pubg. In the name of nationalism, we got a competitor. How good was it? Crap. 4) China as a country is far ahead of India. Look at Olympics table if you need to clarify. To sum it all up, gaming is expensive. We have government too sensitive to handle anything. No passion from developers and competing with someone that's far ahead of us.
I've always wanted to create a game based on the stories of Raja Raja Cholan, Karnan, Ramayanam, and others. However, I can't dedicate my life to it while I have to provide for my family. I hope that one day I'll be able to do something just for myself.
"Imagine a game inspired by the Mahabharata, where you can play as one of the five main characters, guided by Krishna. The boss battles could feature epic fights against Karna, Duryodhana, Dronacharya, and others. It would be such a beautifully crafted game!
I find Raji: An ancient epic shots to be a good point, the game is an indie game developed by Nodding head games and the story and mechanics are good. I hope Varun can do a podcast with them on the their game development journey and other things.
Something to add here is that Wukong is inspiration behind Son Goku and Son Goku is behind Goku of Dragon ball series, one might say wukong is inspired by Hanuman ,Dont know about that but lot of similarities exists between their individual stories and myths, also wukong text is known as "Journey to the west" where west is India 🇮🇳 as wukong makes the journey in search of immortality. Easy, in comparison, India has a very radical society to the world. A AAA game is an art form which needs the wings of creativity and freedom to which, the Indian population will always raise criticism and potentially violence against the developers and the company developing the said game. Imagine a product that is so hampered by your own country's people, politicians, bureaucrats and investors, one would simply accept their losses and move on rather than making a game like Wukong in India.
Will not be surprised if it was. A lot of the animation for Hollywood movies does get done in India - have a look at the credits of a few movies. Which makes it even more frustrating that we (Indians) can't make something homegrown with the talent we have. :)
The mythology point is so accurate. India has so much to offer, with countless storylines to explore. We just lack the minds and resources to bring them to life. It’s like having a Lego set in a box, just waiting to be assembled and shown to the world.
It will happen eventually will take lots of years tho once india develops, purchasing power increases and pc/consoles are made in india just like smartphones are now only then it will happen Mobile gaming only became big in india once smartphones became cheaper earlier taxes were really high

Biggest reason is, we are a country of engineers and doctors. Taking arts a career path is looked down upon. The pool of good artists is limited. To make a game like wukong you need a country which respects art as a career. Let's say you try to make a game like this in India, the engineers who do not have a sense of good art would have more say than an artist because well, that's how it works here.

Indian gaming professional here - Good summary! Here are my 2 cents:
- Gaming is high art.
Deeply believe that
Successful games are the highest form of expression of technology, culture, art, and creativity

Ask yourself why there are no Indian software or websites or code in anything.

The Chinese builds a bridge in 3 years. We Indians pland and ponder for 3 years, then there's debate between different groups. Then there's further more discussion about benefits and disadvantage of building a bridge. Then we start doing it.
3 years? no! chinese can build a bridge in 3 days if it is necessary
I'm not joking with you. You will never understand how intense the competition for jobs is in China. If I assume that I buy something on Taobao today, I would theoretically receive the goods the next day, and the prices are unimaginably low. Two days ago, I was in Shenzhen, dining at a restaurant where I ordered a table full of dishes, and if i cant see the dishes on my table in 30 minutes, it would be free.
The competitiveness of Chinese people is beyond what Indians can imagine, and you definitely won't understand how much pressure there is to study in China.
@@chingtowong130 I am aware and I respect it. But three years it just an example not exact time
@@MrBiswas123 I know you were just using a metaphor, but I just want to tell you that you may still be underestimating the drive of the Chinese people. I am from Hong Kong and worked in the toy industry, collaborating with American companies. Americans are also surprised by the competitiveness of the Chinese. In China, people use the term 'juǎn' (卷) to describe this somewhat pathological competitiveness.

@@MrBiswas123 I hope that when Indians compare themselves to China, they will take the time to understand the stories behind the Chinese people. They should reflect on whether Indians can match the same drive and sacrifice as the Chinese. You know, every time I hear these comparisons between India and China, or even the audacious claims that India will surpass China in the short term, as a hong kong chinese, I feel deeply disrespected. The Chinese are a group filled with ideals and responsibilities, behind every success, there are so many sacrifices and struggles.
There is a saying in China: 'Attitude determines success or failure.'

This is such an underrated comment. We Indians simply lack an artistic temper. We thrive in mediocrity and therefore lack the ability to do the mehnat it takes to build a breathing gaming world. I have had a chance to see concept art from gaming studios such as Ubisoft Pune and Gameloft. The kind of work emerging from our Indian studios is very generic and almost always an indianized version of foreign art. Raji is a pleasant exception

Exactly.
If you don‘t tell your own story, someone will tell it for you.
Many Japanese and Korean games were based on Chinese mythology. US games were based on European myth and stories.

I do game development in Singapore, we hardly have an domestic market. on government policy, you can attempt to attract major studio to establish a base in a city, and build a digital media cluster around that city. possibly tax free, with free office space, get them to come and they will figure out how to create the talent you need, and once these talent exist in India, they can found their own companies.
lastly the point of outsourcing, you imply it is difficult to outsource the development of games. when it reality most of the work in Wukong and many AAA games are outsource, and this is the result of the production cycle of game is irregular, another words, you need different people for different duration for different stages of development, if you hire everyone to work inhouse, you will have to keep hiring and firing people continously, it is just easily to outsource a different part of the development to different specialised studios that can then pack their schedule by working for several different games. watch the credit carefully, and you will see there are alot of outside involvement in games development. this is why I mention you need to build a digital media cluster, because these companies don't standalone, they support each other and offer each other services.
as to sensitivity of Indian culture and religion, that you maybe right. in which case you can simply choose not to make historical game and focus on future or scifi. why I make games is because I can make anything. the most important thing about game development is not to limit yourself to an idea on what a game can and cannot be. if you describe to a 100 people, the concept of flappy bird, 98 of them will say it a stupid idea, yet that "stupid idea" works, and people are willing to play it. you don't have to make your game like everyone else. i hope that can inspire some to try their wildest ideas.

if you have an game idea then start developing. it doesn't need to be AAA budget. it doesn't need to be 3d. just show the world your imagination.
yes do you remember fou g ?

I get 100's of messages from students. asking for help to get Computer to do something in Tech, Gaming, Films but they can't afford Computer required for these things.
This is Reality.
We have to pay "Double Price for Computer & Tech Hardware's" Currently. Means Indian Governance is busy making things hard to reach.

Two reasons you forgot to mention for Wukong's success:
Yes, this one exactly. It is the DEI controversy that gave Wukong most of its popularity in the west.
Bloodborne was a success and is considered one of the greatest games of all time, because it was breathtaking and what they did was commendable, people literally beg sony to release a port for pc. That tells you how high the demand is.

I feel the best game on indian mythos and stories will be made by indians outside India, sadly.
Great video, Varun.❤ Loved your take on this topic.
dude its amazing how youve made this whole video with ai..🔥🔥🔥 some parts missed the lipsinc other than that its awesome .. excited to see how far can you take this
Thank you. That's the first thing I noticed and it's crazy how many people are NOT talking about it.
More game analysis, thanks Varun for picking this up.
I am from Malaysia n in the Animation industry. This is the most comprehensive, well researched, non bullshit, practical, yet humble video on--not just video game--but media business in general. Some of the hurdles u mentioned India is facing is just the same as us in Malaysia. I hope u keep making more practical business content like this. God knows TH-cam is riddled with too much get rich quick gurus n clueless salty gamers.
Without earning from the game for minimum 5 years If a company can pay developers and designers, then we can make a AAA game
India should develop a Phantom Blade Zero type of game focused on Indian martial arts instead of Wukong.
Also a fighting game like tekken,Mortal kombat will be great start as well.
maybe stop comparing and realise that China is on a completely different level. Having a good understanding of yourself is the first step towards self improvement
6:30 bro what, Interstellar was animated in India? 💀
Your script writer was stoned before writing this ig
He was talking about the visual effects, cgi development in many hollywood movies being outsourced to countries like India.
Man, I’d love some amazing new AAA games from India ❤
we wont get it
@@shubhsharma19 give it 5-10 years. Game dev is becoming more and more democratized just like the video said 😊
@@stanis_gaming I agree with you. We just need time
@@stanis_gamingMore like 50-100 years. Trust me, we won’t be seeing a AAA game from India in our lifetime.
Basically impossible, unless the AAA game budget becomes lower, even in countries like China, AAA game is also a huge investment
As a Westerner, I think it would be cool if India launched a Ramayana or Mahabharata inspired game, for PS or mobile
It will happen eventually will take lots of years tho once india develops, purchasing power increases and pc/consoles are made in india just like smartphones are now only then it will happen
Mobile gaming only became big in india once smartphones became cheaper earlier taxes were really high
Dude, do you want studios to be burnt to ground 😅
That will only happen if they disrespect it, its Hinduism not !slam
Hindus are way more tolerant thats why so many people who are openly mocking Hinduism are still alive@@metaterrestrial197
Gaming chapris should stay away from our culture.
😂bro cancel culture is in peaks in Indian market
Don't forget the constant attack from Gaming Journalists, calling the developer team misogynist and the game lack diversity and inclusivity which just make gamers want to support it even more.
Well said
Next thing you know there would be a million how to make videogame coaching centres in INDIA instead of actually making a game
Chinese respect their culture. If I make a hanuman ji game no one will buy it because it's hindu or Indian culture.
That's because China already united, with same culture & languages.
For India, u have too many different languages, cultures & religious, to make successful game, u should think of character, story, form, or something that the most Indian will accept. Or it doesn't need to be Indian religion related, u just need a funny good game (like most of the successful games), then the whole world will buy it.
@@emhgarlyyeung Yes. But not as much as black myth wokong. It's the most successful single player game now. Only because of the culture it belongs to. It had the history, company did the marketing....Boom. And about India, the moment I started talking a game about Hanunan Ji, you immediately jumped in bringing other unknown cultures. God knows what you'll do if someone actually makes a game on Lord Hanuman. And for your kind information, Monkey King Wokong is inspired from Hanuman Ji.
@@connorjade5460 Haha, nope, there is no proof, and these two are totally different in every expects. WuKong were actually expanded based on China older character Wu ZhiQi, WuKong and Wu ZhiQi were both demon/monster, both powerful and able to shape shift or transform, both were suppressed under mountain by someone stronger, both were rebellious personality. Compare to WuKong, If Hanuman similar 2%, then Wu ZhiQi similar 30-40%.
@@connorjade5460 Pls be confident on your own culture, good luck in making your AAA game.

This is literally the first video that came as soon as you type sun wokon and hanuman
We cannot do this because even today if you get placed in a company with even a ₹2L/month salary, the first question that gets asked it,
"WHAT IF THE COMPANY FAILS?"
so forget being able to work in a GAME STARTUP that initially will definitely not be even paying that High Salary.
Yes, but if we go to Europe, US or Canada and do this same Game Developing job there, then it is okay, cause that is a STATUS SYMBOL.
so it cannot happen here.
Also, encouraging people to use AI like you do in the video will result in the most generic ass looking games. Wukong works because you can see the insane art that went into it. Art specific to china. You tech bros are part of the problem. Good movies, music, books and art do not always have a "tech solution". It needs culture behind it.
