I have a feeling that... in about 40-odd years I'll be sitting there just like this fella, in my mancave, still collecting knives, happy like a little boy on Christmas eve, apart from my old, grey wife nagging about which joker I bought now! Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
I bought 2 jokers. A folder and a fixed blade. I smoothed up the wood to metal transitions. Stroped to super sharp. Olive wood. 1.4116 moly van. So nice!
Thank you George for spending my money. After watching this vedio, I ordered the Joker Arrui 12. I especially like the olive wood scales. It will match up with my beloved Opinels. The deciding factor though was your comment "yeah, it works for me…"
Hi George, I'm from Barcelona, Spain. I have had the Arrui 10 for a long time. It is a basic knife but it will not disappoint you. 420 steel, which is soft (52-54HRC), will allow you to know with the type of wood you are used to how far you can go without damaging the blade, and you can extrapolate that to knives of better quality and price. Linseed oil on the handle until it no longer absorbs and then a layer of beeswax. This will leave the olive handle well stabilized and beautiful. It is very easy to sharpen and very capable. Use it without fear. Good video and greetings.
I don't know of a knife maker besides Opinel that gives you as much value for your money as Joker. For about $100 USD they'll give you a knife that's the equal of all but the finest available at any price, and for this, about a third of that, you've got a dandy knife, nothing special steel-wise but nicely made and very attractive. I have a slipjoint folder from Joker, 3.5-inch carbon steel blade and olive wood handle, a great knife for the price. This fixed-blade looks like a similar proposition. You really can't go wrong with Joker.
Just picked one out, been seeing really positive reviews on Joker knives, and I've been looking for a fixed blade, wood handle, leather sheath between 3 and 3.9 inches, went with the Arrui 9 can't wait to get it.
One of the advantages of leaving the edges of the scales as they are on this knife is that they can be sanded down to fit each owner's hand. Obviously it's a bit difficult to add material (I've seen it done). I just wish it had a lanyard hole. I do appreciate your comments regarding the sheath. Two rivets, in lieu of the loop stitching, would be a good idea, but a single rivet allows too much twisting. How about a review of your Stihl folding saw?

You pronounce "arrui" just fine, don´t worry. Arrui is by the way the name of wild goat from Northern Africa (Sahara area)
