This is all new to me, even the word dormition, a totally foreign concept. It's beautiful. Growing up Protestant in Texas I was clueless about Our Lady of Guadalupe also. Us Protestants were certainly denied the full understanding of our Christian history and faith. I have been freed to embrace my heavenly Mother.

It's not dogma that she underwent the dormition, but I believe it because it goes hand-in-hand with the assumption. Also, the "death" of the dormition was very unlike normal death. This is because of Mary's sinlessness.

When watching these
videos the saints and our lady play a significant part in all the original Christian traditions. Yet .... I totally cringe when Protestants type in their very slim kingdom of god and pencil thin ideas of god’s holy church on earth which excludes the mother of god and humans who are infused with the grace of god to the extend we can declare them saints. What I am getting at is Catholics and orthodox do a very poor job explaining why the mother of god is venerated and not just a dead human as Protestants claim. Also Catholics type in they can’t figure either why these humans are not just dead people. For tor the church just to explain that Mary is tend mother of god doed not explain much at all to Protestants and young Catholics.
