Since it has been mentioned, for comparison to anyone who is interested, my PC (AMD 2950x, RTX 3090, 64GB RAM) has the following fps numbers with color correction, grade, glow, and the mentioned noise reduction: Full: 10-11 fps Half: 23-25 fps 4k timeline 25fps h.264 10-bit 4:2:2 footage on a 25fps timeline Although I usually only use chroma noise reduction, I put that on a shared node and turn it on before rendering. @ristow I don't know how I ended up at your video, but good luck with your channel and your laptop!
Welcome to the club… The Mac club. I would never own a PC but then I’m not a gamer. Very happy to see that you bought a Mac. You won’t be disappointed. And yes, resolve is so much better than Premier Pro. I have the M1 Ultra with 128 gigs of RAM… Waiting for the M4 ultra before I even think about upgrading. But right now I really have no need all of my projects in my client projects run perfectly smooth on the M1 Ultra.
I'm most likely not gonna review more on the M4 Pro Max, but I'm sure there's people out there that are putting it to the test, so I'd definitely look at other videos. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Thanks so much for sharing this. I would love to see u make a video to run Speed Warp on Davinci with this Mac. The Speed Warp speed on Mac is always the thing that bothers me when comparing it to my RTX laptop...
You are right the apple silicon M series is pure power and efficiency epitomy on the current market I really hope others like intell AMD come up and give us this efficiency and power in PC's The situation is so much different these days laptop recommendations for under $1000 we can only recommend Mac's Like windows laptops are not just worth it Their only upper hand is gaming This would have been far from reality before 5 years Like I'm recommending apple computers for people looking for budget 😮 It's only issue is gaming And the fun of pc building.and all that niches BTW great video I've tried the M4 max and got similar results in resolve ❤
@@AlexRistow Do you think it would be possible to check it next time you're editing? I'm trying to figure out how much ram I might need. I'll be purchasing a M4 Pro or Max based on the amount of ram that I'll be needing. I currently have a i7 13700k, RTX 4080 PC, 32gb ram, but I need to have something that I can use to edit on the go, however, my budget will either allow for more ram on a M4 Pro or the base version of the Max (14/32cores), I figured that the max with 36gb of ram might be better because of the dual encoders, but when I'm editing on my PC I sometimes notice davinci using 10gb of ram + another 10gb of Vram +. Since I've never had a macbook I don't know what to expect from the system in terms of ram usage :X
@@VictorMatsunaga sorry for the late response I would recommend at-least 48gb of ram. Obviously budgets can differ but personally I would rather spend more now than having to upgrade later.
On your thumbnail is the M4 Pro chip. This is a little mistake. Would be interesting to see the activity monitor and the usage on the playback. Also if there any difference on High Power Mode when its connected to a power supply
@ Yes I know, you said it also in your Video, but you did a good video better then the normal tech Reviewers that show very often a lot of garbage. These are just little things …
Why do every MacBook video start with the owner telling us why they bought it? Not trying to be funny, but I noticed every time I watch a Mac video the creator says the reason I bought this is because I do X&X and so and so. But no one ever says I bought it because I love shiny shit, or I saw it and I just wanted it.😂 I would still respect it.
@@AlexRistow Yes sir. I pray I did not offend. It was just an observation I noticed when I saw your video. By all means If that's your thing no one can come against it. I don't know you personally to make an assumption in any which way. So as a viewer my apologies if I offended.

Great video, man. I have been looking into the M4 max. Can wait to see what you create 💪🏾
I just upgraded from the base m1 macbook air to the M4 and the speed blew me away! Its insane how powerful it is

Hey that’s me:)
Would love to see more color grading videos.
What kind? :)
@@AlexRistow quick tips, challenges you overcame. Maybe some BTS then edit session.
Does it over heat?
hey :) can you tell when the fans kick in?
They take awhile to turn on I don’t know the exact time though.

for true computer power try raw footege and then denoise itl. anyway macbooks now are the tanks indeed :) powerfull on the go man!
How much ram are you seeing being used in those complex color grading nodes? Are you using S-log 3?
I'm not to sure and yes I'm using slog-3

Is the video used for color grading 4k or 6k?
