Just listened on Spotify after watching this video, and what the hell is up with the drums? The cymbals sound so flat and buried compared to the guitars and it really drags the energy down. And again, just like with the other two singles, everything is way too separated and clean in the mix. It sounds like an AI interpretation of Metallica. I was really hoping they’d have something special for us, but here we are yet again with another safe, uninspired outing by one of the biggest bands in the world.
Sounds good! But the solo was dissapointing. Has Kirk lost it? He has played some legendary solos, but now he only keeps playing wah-on blues stuff that sounds something like every other axe-man could improvise in a jam session.
Thank you for your review. However, I liked this song very much. To tell you the truth, this is the strongest song they have recorded since Some kind of monster. I liked its slower groove, heavy rhymes, and strong melody, as you admitted. The bass sounds good here. This is the song I wanted from Metallica for a long time. They became softer and older. However, this song is an exception. George from Ukraine, Mariupol.

I think that too many people are "stuck" in first 4 Metallica albums. They will dislike new ones anyway even if they are amazing cause "tHiS iS nOt tHe oLd mEtAlLiCa". I'm so happy that the trash era has ended because it would be too monotonous. If Metallica kept playing trash to this day, these people would be complaining that this is boring and they can't make anything else... I personally prefer Load/Reload, Death Magnetic (my favourite) and even St.Anger than first albums (which are great too). Metallica is legendary because they were not afraid to change their style and try something new/different/experimental.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, I love every era of Metallica and I appreciate each album for what it is. I find myself listening to Death Magnetic/Beyond Magnetic era more than any other era, I even love St. Anger and I find it therapeutic to listen to when I'm in a bad mood/period of time. That album saved Metallica imo, St. Anger was one giant therapy session for them and that's the effect it has on me.
here's my thoughts, the entire album is a story. It's called 72 seasons which is supposedd to referece the first 18 years of the band, right? so it's unlikely many songs are "complete" as much as they're meant to be complimentary of each other. Still like what, 9 more songs to go? 8 more?
Metallica always tells a story with their sound. Repeati.g the temptation part is no different than titling a chapter of a book. I love the reminder. Its as if they speak of the duality of it with each verse. The duality of..temptation. darkness and light intertwine.
I tried to watch your video, Metallica is Finished BUT it wouldn't play Not sure if youtube took it down or you deleted it. its NOT Dave specifically on the copy right strike thing, it's The Record companies that do that. Not sure if you were Joking there. & my choice is the Green Pill which would be Choosing Exodus & Over kill over both of them.
Kirk hasn't had a decent solo since the and Justice for all album . before he started using the wah as a crutch . Mega Dave's new offering is far superior imo .
unfortunately, this album so far has been like a solid 4/10 for me so far, really enjoyed hardwired but this just doesnt really hit home. hopefully the rest of the album will change things up and kirk can get his solos into gear
It's not bad. I don't mind it. I don't overly enjoy the produced sound. It's like a heavy radio friendly song, which isn't a bad thing, just would prefer a more raw sound
That’s the biggest criticism I’d have to give current day Metallica albums. It’s like the treble is too high on the production. They’ll sound much better live.
James taking his lyrical inspiration from Lenny Kravitz?? “I wish that I could fly, up to the sky, so very high, just like a dragon fly…” so much rhyming!! 😖

The only thing about this is you know all about music notation and what it sounds like you were composing about the solo to me it sounded amazing nothing wrong with it.
It’s sad when you start to see the closing curtains of an era. Once hungry determined musicians, keen to take over the world are now holding on to name that meant something so much, Metallica. With fame and fortune, it takes away the passion that once fuelled the fire of an almighty energy that effected us all in some way. It’s understandable after the black album they wanted to try new stuff, that’s what creativity is all about. I really thought the last song of the last album spit out the bone was a message, a signal for what to come, but it may be the last decent song Metallica will ever right. Thanks for the music Metallica it has been a part of my life for over 35 years, but now I close the chapter on Metallica, as I don’t want this bland sad attempt to ruin the memories.
That’s cuz you’re an optimist. I seriously don’t know how TF anybody can sit back and bitch at anything about this. You want the first 5 albums then go listen to them. We will say right here enjoying this kicksss album THE WAY IT IS. Cuz I love all 3 tracks as well !!
@@novalover5033 The thing is, we know they are not going to release an album of the same quality of the 80's run, we are not asking that from them, but these singles are so disapointing, kirk sound like he is barely trying to glue together a decent solo, lux sounds like a wish version of hit the lights and most riffs are absolutely boring, they are not in their prime, but they are not a garage cover band to release these average songs, they are the biggest metal band in the world
The start of a bridge reminds me the beginning of "Slipknot - Before I Forget". Outro has the difrent E-galop/march and why the hell don't they use that in the intro? I really like this chromatic vers parts (something new in Metallica). Neverless I like this one better than the last two. And about solo let's not talk at all.

Everyone has a different nervous system. A different ear. A different way they process audio stimuli. Yes, I like this song, I don't like the song Sacrifice. Crying like a baby over it is pathetic.
@@TheNothing6 LOL I caught you being an obvious fanboy and partisan whilst presenting as a objective and fair-minded person.. Remember you said winding up Megadeth fans and being an obvious troll is fun... Yeah well I find it fun ruining your little charade..
I've spoken to you what.. Twice... Yup sounds like an obsession.. Why don't you point on the doll where the mean Megadeth man touched you you whiny bitch 🤣
@Phantom Deth You sound like a child. You cry like a sissy girl because I don't like all of the songs on the new Megadeth album, which I said was good! How pathetic are you? Are you that in love with Mustaine that you snap at any criticism of your precious lover? What are your thoughts on Mustaine's rumored collaboration with Michael Sweet from Stryper? I bet you'll be the first in line to praise it! If Metallica collaborated with Stryper, you'd be eagerly waiting to bash it. You are a hypocritical mess. Megadeth has many flaws and has done many things Metallica had done. Risk is a horrible album! It's the worst album ever released by a metal band! It's more Bon Jovi than Bon Jovi! I like both bands, though. I'm not one of you "only Megadeth" douche bags that think you can't like both bands, and feel the need to swing on Mustaine's balls all day every day, and bash Metallica, I prefer Metallica. But I love both bands. I can't help that you cry uncontrollably over any Megadeth criticism.
Ok I guess, I like new Megadeth better personally.
Considering the first 18 years of life, 72 seasons, temptation is a huge part of adolescence and the teen years as well. I like the song. The guitars do seem to get knotted a little during the solo. It's a bit long but I likely won't skip the track because there are some really great riffs in there and the vocals are on point for me.
😴💤
You can really feel the emotion that comes from James. It's a great song.
Compared to old Metallica it's kind of mid
@@bobandblackeyfanclubsucks they're 60+ years old now. Stop comparing it to music they made 40 years ago when they were young and angry. Y'all look made goofy repeating the same shit over and over
@@bobandblackeyfanclubsucks you are mid
@@vm6729 got him
I’m gonna hard disagree. I can’t “feel” the emotion with the bland uninspired riffs. You can give credit to the lyrics, but musically it doesn’t give off emotion.
Megadeth = Red Pill
Metallica = Blue Pill
Man, that chorus sounds like classic Iron Maiden (but an octave lower).
Mastodon The Wolf Is Loose
Mannnnn the temptation part is the best
This song is great in my opinion. Not as great as Lux Aeterna but good enough for me to feel that the album is gonna be decent, maybe better than Hardwired. I pre ordered it already.
@@cryptoholica72 I like Lux's It Cool song been fan since 84 So I'm old School when it comes to them
@@cryptoholica72 Lux is the closest current Metallica will be from sounding like classic Metallica, in my opinion. It kinda fits alongside with the classics from them as well.
@Endergamer.mp4 there's a TH-cam video where someone put Lux Aeterna on Kill Em All and the riffs Metallica created on that song sounds exactly like something from Kill Em All.
@@endergamer.mp4lux feels like a throwback to hit the lights it’s great!
All 3 songs are average at best, jesus christ, people really do accept anything these guys release
Aye Shred! Love your vids, they've helped me a ton as a metal guitar player. Any chance you could do a breakdown of the solo from Necrophagist's Fermented Offal Discharge, similar to the one you did for Tornado of Souls? Would LOVE to hear you analyze it
Never seen Shred analyze or react to anything beyond traditional heavy and thrash metal.
with every single ı understand the greatness of megadeth again. thanks midtallica
The first two sound like new Metallica... Ok stuff, cute, do not stand out in any way. The third one feels like the Metallica I used to know. 🤘😎 Finally.
The Metallica I used to know ( AND LOVE) Died A LONG time ago....😢
The Metallica I used to know and liked played 10x faster and had interesting riffs that progressed. SUre if you have bad taste and think their 90s stuff is their best you'll love this song. Thrash died within Metallica with the release of the black album and from then on they became dad rock
SAD....BUT TRUE..LOL.
Will you put a note at the center of the circle of Notes or the footprint Muse? Actually we are blessed to witness a chaotic scorpion solo, cutting through the mud?
Go easy on the LSD, bro.
@@hinjurock70 Into the Lid
Papa Het is an unmatched lyricist.
In his older songs yes.
This song? Hell no.
@@victorthemusicman7243 hell yes
This just showed that Megadeth will always always always be better than Metallica. Thrash had a son its named Megadeth
its so weird when you speed(1.25x) up the video the song speeds up but scott doesn't 🥴
I like it much more than Lux Aeturna. I like noise so the whack solo and clashing key sigs don't bother me at all. I don't mind if he is rhyming like Avril Lavgne either...if they want to reach the youngsters that is good.💀🎧
Elitist don’t understand innovation.
They are stuck in the past.
And fail to see anything new as relevant. It’s very boomer. I hate that word. But it’s true. If you don’t like it gtfo.
@@novalover5033 Nothing I said was demeaning to the song or band. I don't get why you are offended by the comment.
They need to trim the last two about a minute in a half each
It’s my favorite track, out of the 3, that I’ve heard from this album so far. Lux Æterna is second best, in my opinion.
I didn’t like this song that much at first but after listening to it a few times the beat grew on me and the song became sorta catchy
This is like now that we are dead , same feels
more like Eye of the Beholder
@@Gtu9107 true, i feel like the dragging riff sounds a lot of older songs
Broken beat and scarred too
Confusion too.
And a bit of Just a Bullet Away. At least the verse riff is original :D
That’s cool lol. I like how you broke this video down lol. You’re skilled, bro!!
So far the strongest song out of the three they have released. First two for me were not repeat value. This one is a great Metallica song. 🤘🤘🤘
lol
That solo is just one dumb wah player i hate it so much.
Damnit what’s that brand and model of your cutaway acoustic guitar?? Thnx
The words plain and uninteresting comes to mind when hearing the new Metallica songs.
Got that 👁 Eye Of The Beholder feel to it this album is gonna be sic Tallica Rules!!
Sounds good! But the solo was dissapointing. Has Kirk lost it? He has played some legendary solos, but now he only keeps playing wah-on blues stuff that sounds something like every other axe-man could improvise in a jam session.
So far I place them Lux>Screaming> If Darkness. Still a solid song.
Let’s hope it’s the worst on the album
Thank you for your review. However, I liked this song very much. To tell you the truth, this is the strongest song they have recorded since Some kind of monster. I liked its slower groove, heavy rhymes, and strong melody, as you admitted. The bass sounds good here. This is the song I wanted from Metallica for a long time. They became softer and older. However, this song is an exception. George from Ukraine, Mariupol.
Love this song. Not too sluggish at all. It's a menacing chugger. Everything is, as it should be 🤘🔥
No analysis, here-- I just know what I like, & I like it🤘
Metallica sings about inner struggles; Megadeth sings about the military industrial complex. One appeals to beer drinking sportsball fans, the other appeals to the thinking person.
One appeals to the soul and inner struggle and one appeals to the conspiracy theory tinfoil hat crew
Mega is arguably more artistic with more music coming through the speaker
here's my thoughts, the entire album is a story. It's called 72 seasons which is supposedd to referece the first 18 years of the band, right? so it's unlikely many songs are "complete" as much as they're meant to be complimentary of each other.
Still like what, 9 more songs to go? 8 more?
this was sad
Am I the only one that's hearing a little Ozzy in the way James singing style is so far?
Kirk hasn't had a decent solo since the and Justice for all album . before he started using the wah as a crutch . Mega Dave's new offering is far superior imo .
unfortunately, this album so far has been like a solid 4/10 for me so far, really enjoyed hardwired but this just doesnt really hit home. hopefully the rest of the album will change things up and kirk can get his solos into gear
After this song. Megadeth is for me now
This one’s probably my favorite of the three so far, but I’m still gonna wait til the rest to come out before I stack it up against TSTDATD
My favourite since Hardwired 🤘
James taking his lyrical inspiration from Lenny Kravitz?? “I wish that I could fly, up to the sky, so very high, just like a dragon fly…” so much rhyming!! 😖
Hope you will make this kind of videos with the whole album, I Will watch it definitely! Cool! Always MetallicA drops out a New music I am looking for your video! It is awesome! Like the music theories you bring in this videos ...
Honestly I thought this new song was kinda boring. The intro was cool but it just doesn’t go anywhere interesting
Upon the second listen there is definitely some cool parts but this song needed some speed. A little bit of momentum goes along way, especially if this song is gonna be a 7 minute slog…
@@benjamindavis4974 I might try that
@@benjamindavis4974 tried it. You’re right it’s classic Metallica that way. Some of the transitions in the middle were a little garbled but they could change them up and it would still sound cool
Metallica:
1988 " Opposition...contradiction...premonition...compromise....Agitation...violation...mutilation...planet dies"
2023 " Temptation Temptation Temptation Temptation"
We need to get Marty to take over for Kirk now. Kirk is done with this type of solo work.
You have to listen to the studio version it's actually shorter
Forgettable. Of all the 3 singles
I felt this one had the most potential and kept waiting for a classic Metallica riff change or tempo change…anything!
It’s monotonous. Cmon dudes, this band can do a lot a better and we know it.
War never changes
The intro sounds like a sequel to Confusion from Hardwired....
The only thing about this is you know all about music notation and what it sounds like you were composing about the solo to me it sounded amazing nothing wrong with it.
In speed 1×25 is a masterpiece
If darkness had a son he'd call him torchlight.
SHRED I THINK THIS IS THE BROTHER TO LUX AETERNA AND I LOVE IT. GREAT ALBUM SO FAR. LOVED THE REACT STAY REAL
I love all 3 songs so far
That’s cuz you’re an optimist.
I seriously don’t know how TF anybody can sit back and bitch at anything about this.
You want the first 5 albums then go listen to them.
We will say right here enjoying this kicksss album THE WAY IT IS.
Cuz I love all 3 tracks as well !!
Same here.
@@novalover5033 The thing is, we know they are not going to release an album of the same quality of the 80's run, we are not asking that from them, but these singles are so disapointing, kirk sound like he is barely trying to glue together a decent solo, lux sounds like a wish version of hit the lights and most riffs are absolutely boring, they are not in their prime, but they are not a garage cover band to release these average songs, they are the biggest metal band in the world
Megadeth congratulations you are the winner!
❌
The start of a bridge reminds me the beginning of "Slipknot - Before I Forget".
Outro has the difrent E-galop/march and why the hell don't they use that in the intro?
I really like this chromatic vers parts (something new in Metallica).
Neverless I like this one better than the last two.
And about solo let's not talk at all.
Death Magnetic is by far the best album they release after black album. Some good songs from Hardwired but not entirely the album is good.
for me this song sounds like Eye of the beholder at the beginning
I had a choice today… pause your video while my wife was in the kitchen or explain to her why the Heavy Metal Duck Dynasty lookin dude is going “Lick-lick the G string and bathe in holy WAP juice…😂”. Huhhh… so glad I paused the video. Stay true Shred.
I usually love their new stuff, but this one made me lose hope for the album
Megadeth destroys Metallica on many levels. Metallica doesn’t have to try anymore and it shows. Megadeth has way more talent on all fronts. Always have and always will.
Metallica still alive and kicking, that riff is a bad ass as it get!!!
Cool, but since St Anger they are so longwinded.
That is their weakness.
I wish somebody close to them would tell them that.
Go back to Kill Em All song structure like they did on the first single from this album.
