In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about Srinivas Ramanujan. (22 December 1887 - 26 April 1920). Having no formal training in pure mathematics, Ramanujan made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems that were considered unsolvable. In 1913 he began a postal correspondence with the English mathematician G. H. Hardy at the University of Cambridge, England. Hardy arranged for his travel to London and in a short duration of 7 years Ramanujan published some great works of Mathematics that were later used in quantum mechanics and string theory. देवीय कृपा थी ऐसे बहुत ऋषि हुए जिन्हें ग्रह नक्षत्र का ज्ञान भी देवीय कृपा थी
रामानुजन को उनकी कुलदेवी गणित के सूत्र बताती थी, रामानुजन ने हमेशा उनकी आराधना की थी। एक बार रामानुजन ने कहा था की मेरे लिए गणित का हर वो सूत्र बेकार हैं जो मुझे परमात्मा के करीब ना ले जाता हो।

And that so called kuldevi couldn't guide him about his health habit in London that he shouldn't sleep on the chill floor and must consume nonveg to protect him from pneumonia, which took his life in 30s, people like u have caused us to get in 21st century a PM who is a complete duffer. Go for a mental, rehabilitation, because to get a degree is easy but not the common sense.

@@nadeemjsr2958 भाई जब रामानुजन से कोई भी गणितीय सवाल होता था तो वो सवाल लिखने से पहले उसका उत्तर दे देते थे। इस्टीफ़न हॉकिन्स महान वैज्ञानिक थे इसमें कोई दो राय नही हैं। रामानुजन ने ब्लैक होल का गणित पहले ही दे दिया था, जब न थ्योरी थी ना ही कोई कॉन्सेप्ट था। हर वैज्ञानिक पहले कांसेप्ट देता हैं फिर थ्योरी और फिर गणित लेकिन उन्होंने पहले गणित तैयार कर दिया था।

Ramanujan was a genius or a savant. This is rare. He was someone who was beyond modern mathematics. Perhaps that allowed him to think beyond. His work remains still subjects of PhD and still remain mysteries! Pity he had to go to the UK where his life was cut short

Very well written and presented. It was unexpected from an Indian media house that they will talk about the role of proofs, rigour and intuition in mathematics. That someone from Indian media will tell that "for example is not a proof". Otherwise every Indian video on Ramanujan I have watched is either sensational or mathematically incorrect. This was a fresh breeze to my ears.
P.S The video mentions Jacobi and Euler as Fathers of calculus but as per my knowledge Newton and Leibniz gave birth to calculus. And Newton is also considered one of the greatest mathematicians alongside being a physicist.
Jacobi played a very imp role in the development of the theory of Partial differential calculus along with linear independence tool wronskien was based on his idea.....leonherd Euler was also creditor of playing major role in theory of modern differential equations and their Power series solution....
@@aimersclasseslko9089 We have studied wronskian and Jacobian. I know about their immense contribution to Calculus. But if someone asks who "invented" calculus, then the answer would be Newton and Leibniz.
