    Bunnings do a felted acoustic board in big sheets. It stays flat, takes flock, you can glue features to it etc, and trees can be fitted with pin ends to just stick straight it!

    • @thecraftsmansguide1357
      @thecraftsmansguide1357  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Doctor! You can definitely get a fantastic finish with a paint job but it's my personal preference to add flocking! My painting skills aren't quite there yet so this is an easy alternative!

    During play, do you find that terrain often gets knocked over? If so, how do you secure it to the board? PS. Can we see more of the cat!

    • @thecraftsmansguide1357
      @thecraftsmansguide1357  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Some stuff does get knocked over a lot, the best way to counter is using heavy materials like the decor rocks and gravel that weigh them down. Otherwise wish has some super cheap big packs of magnets you can build into the base and scatter piece 🤙
      I dont think it would be possible to keep him out the videos, he's the boss 😂

    Got some more question. About what size are your battle boards? I've been thinking about making some myself for some 1/285 mm wargaming, and have been trying to decide on the appropriate size. The module size I was considering was about 1 ft by 2 ft (30.5 cm by 61 cm). The problems I foresee right off the bat have to do with joining the modules. First, what's the best way of physically connecting two modules together? Two, can you do a video about creating adjoining modules which have changes, such as hills, streams, trenches, gullies, etc.?
    Thank you.

    • @thecraftsmansguide1357
      @thecraftsmansguide1357  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey again! The exact size isn't super important, I tend to make my boards 60cmx44cm. If you have a hotwire or take care to get straight and even cuts, you can simply push the boards together and with the flocking and vegetation, it should cover the seam to an extent. If you want a more durable bond, I recommend buying a big pack of small but strong magnets off of Amazon or the likes and magnetising them!

    What do you do with all that cat hair? Also, you may want to highlight the cracks and crevices in the rocks by using a mixture of a flat black and clear paint. You can simply brush paint it on and let the resulting black seep into the cracks.
    Finally, how do you handle things like hills and streams. And could you do a video about blending two different modules together, such as a forest next to a riverbank?
    Thank you and keep up the good work.

    • @thecraftsmansguide1357
      @thecraftsmansguide1357  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John! Thanks for your support, as for the questions:
      Being my first video a while back, I hadn't really ventured into wash territory too much but wish I had! I plan on making an updated version of my battleboard video with all the techniques I've learnt since!
      As for the blending of various terrain, It's a little tough, what I tend to do when I put two boards side by side is use a lot of scatter terrain to help the transition. Things that draw the eye and cover the crevices/help blend and shift the terrain types.
      I hope this helps!
